While pickup trucks have always been a part of Jeep's long heritage, it'd been almost 30 years since they've actually had one in their family line up. Sure, there'd been a lot of talk about one being made and endless speculation and rumors as to when that might be but year after year, it continued to be an elusive unicorn... or I should say, up until now anyway. In this episode of the JL JOURNAL, you'll get to see highlights from the 2018 L.A. Auto Show where Jeep finally revealed what so many of us have been dying to get our hands on, the all new 2020 GLADIATOR. We apologize for the audio being difficult to hear - it was crazy loud at the reveal and we didn't have time to mic everyone. We hope you enjoy the video just the same.

OMG, I have goose bumps !!!!!!! The places yall get access to are epic. Cant thank yall enough for always bringing us along for the ride. Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL!! So glad that we can share some of these events with you :)
Great job, Eddie and Cindy in making it to the public introduction of the new Wrangler based Gladiator pickup! And, as always, another great video from the two of you! Thank you both very much!
We really do appreciate it :)
Ultimate vehicle for camping/outdoors. Big thumbs up on this one! Top off looks fantastic!
You know it!
Great to see some of the folks from the Heart and Soul series still doing what they do. Thanks for bringing us the awesome launch!
One of the things we love most about events like this is that we get to see all of our friends from around the country.
Thanks ED and Cindy for your awesome videos and this jeep truck that I’ve been waiting for 🤙🏾
Dude I'm so emotional about the jeep pickup I've waited for 30 years
That Gobi Rubicon. Wow! Thank you for bringing us along!
So glad that we could bring you along :)
Great video Eddie! Must’ve been SO awesome to actually BE there!! A unicorn indeed. Super excited 👍🏼
LOL!! Fortunately, you'll get to see one in person sooner than later.
Awesome Cindy and Eddie... Love the Interviews with all the different Individuals that were there! Love the Forward Facing Camera, and the Off Road Plus Button! 😃
Thank you. We're so glad you enjoyed our video and liked what you saw in it.
Amazing unveil!!!
I gotta say I really like the truck. I dont love it, but i definitely like it
Totally fair assessment.
The JEEP Truck looks awesome! Thanks for the great coverage!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed our coverage :)
Is the JL experience over? I was hoping for another video from that adventure. I appreciate all the great footage and please keep on going on these awesome adventures.
At the end of the day this truck is still a dream come true for me.
Once again Great Video and I’m gonna keep my JKUR and add the Gladiator to the collection I’m in love with the truck I want a JLTR Diesel with the Auto its gonna be a riot!!!! Keep up the good work Eddie
Wait till you see it in person. It really is that nice. Glad you liked the video :)
Holy crap!!!!! My buddy Cuong Tran from work is foaming at the mouth for this with a diesel! No doubt his JK is going up for sale when this comes out! AWESOME rig that is really well thought out!!! Thanks for sharing this video.
LOL!! It really is even nicer in person.
Another awesome video as always. Thank you for sharing this. I'm in love with the Gladiator, I can't wait to get my paws on one.
LOL - you and me both :)
Thanks for the ride along, very cool new vehicle. Really like the add on goodies that Jeep gives with this new "truck" that you would have to pay big bucks on others.
So glad that we could take you along for this :)
I wish they had given it the proper old school looking front hood/grill like the concept had to make it look better than just a JL with a longer frame and a small bed on the back. 100% Original... while using the front 80% of a JL for the truck.
I'm with you 100%. It's what I would have preferred. However, this thing really is nice and if you see it in person, I think you'd agree.
I get that, but as somebody who grew up riding around and offroading with my Dad in a old school Gladiator and J trucks, then a Wagoneer, and once I was 16 a YJ, then a TJ, multiple XJ's, I'm just seeing more big corporate BS trying to get us to buy these gimic build vehicles. I just wish they would build another 2 door Jeep that's slightly longer like the 2004-2006 TJ's were (LJ). They need to offer a long bed 2 door version of this new JT as well or it's useless. I'll just go and find an LJ to build for my next wheeling rig. Long live the Inline 6. I still want to mention here that I may buy one of these in 2020. I'm planning on buying a new truck that year and I was looking at a Tundra TRD but this might meet my qualifications because it could tow a n LJ on my trailer.
I completely agree. I think it's not going to be too long before someone comes out with the old school front end conversion.
Hopefully if it hangs around for a second generation and they change that up
I wonder if some of the goodies of the Gladiator will eventually make its way to the Wrangler; the front camera and the rear diff lock in 4 hi sound nice, as is the off-road + feature.
If I could guess, yes.
I am with the rest of you guys and ladies I want one so bad I love camping. And I rather be out jeepin with you guys really really like your videos you made me want to get a Jeep keep them up your friend David.
Awesome, maybe someday you will be able to join us out on the trail :)
Great Video! Thanks for the behind the scenes and cameos. Also Air down/up assist
Glad you enjoyed our video and seeing us hanging out with our long time friends :)
So Its looking like only a 4 door, kinda sad. I hope a lot of the custom shops out there that have been building the Jeep JK into pick ups might start doing 2 door conversions for this. That I would like to see!
Thank u Eddi this was amazing
Thanks for the review. I appreciate it and love the Gladiator.
Glad we could share it with you :)
Anxious for Eddie n Cindy to get one and start modifying and wheeling it
LOL! We're dying to get our hands on one too :)
New sub! Love your channel love what you guys are doing this thing looks amazing cant wait to check one out up close....
Was it just my screen or did it look like it hazed a bit when Eddie found out about the forward camera. I'm thinking there is going to be some really cool wheeling video coming from a grill at some time. If they could make that camera somehow radar imaging with Google Maps, that rig could guide you just about anywhere blind. LOL Now that they have put out there someone will bring something up in aftermarket. Great video and viewing of the new truck, nice visits and talks about it too. If you buy one, you going to give the look paint wise of your old truck? That would look really something to see the older truck next to the new one.
awesome, I really want to get one...it is great. Only one feature would replace is the front grill for old gladiator grill.. but looks fantastic.
Me too but I still like it.
Can't wait to see one of these in your garage ;-D
LOL - neither can I :)
Was gonna buy an RV...now thinking 2020 Diesel Rubi with a small Airstream… hmmmm…. Thanks Wayalife!
That would definitely be something I would consider over an RV
Be careful with RV’s. Even with the 7k towing you have to look at frontal area of the RV. You most likely will be limited to pop ups and small ultralights. We have the Amarilite 237rk and it only weighs 5400 lbs but we struggle to tow with the 3.6l and 8spd trans which will be similar to the Glad.
This Won't tow max with any cargo and any passengers. Limit it to 5,000lbs or you will exceed payload capacity, GVWR and GCWR.
Hurry up already lol 😆 I need this in my life now 😳👌🏾❤️👍🏾
Great video Brother. Cool to see Rob from Quadratec. The Gladiator is awesome. Can't wait to meet you guys in Moab at 2019 ESJ and see the Gladiator and the concepts Jeep will bring. Safe Travels!
Thank you. Always good to see Rob. Hope to see you out in Moab
I wonder if i could use it to tow the JK for better mileage..... and really want to know the prices!
Thanks for going!
You can wonder that but I would never use one of these to pull my JK.
I was thinking exactly what you said about the front facing trail cam when you said it! Way cool... Seems like the coolest truck soon to be on the market. But regardless of when its available, as long as I have kids in college, its wwaaayyyyyyyyyy outside my price point! :)
Lots of cool features on this truck but the front cam was one of the coolest.
This will be, or should be great for Jeep. For me, a 2 door with the Unlimited wheelbase would be perfect.
oh man I want that rubi truck so bad and I love that grey color gonna try my best to get one, little worried about the MSRP but we will see
It'll cost more than the JL but with any luck, it won't be too much more.
Hey Eddie, when are you buying that Jeep Gladiator? would be cool to do another Gladiator journal same as the JL journal.
LOL!! We'll be ordering one as soon as the books open up to order one. And, you can be sure that will be documenting it just like we're doing with our JL now.
YES! Loving the Rubicon Eddie! Wish they launched with a diesel though. I will wait. Thanks for the great coverage you guys!
Be ready to wait for some time to come.
Thanks again for a job well done!
We appreciate it :)
Considering the break over angle, Jeep should have made a 37-inch tire be able to fit in the spare tire area. 35-inch tires aren't enough for a vehicle with a wheelbase this long.
I'm not sure a 37 would fit.
@@wayalife if you check out this review ua-cam.com/video/izYQ6ztcflQ/v-deo.html he mentions fitting 37s with a tiny lift, but then the problem arises of where to put the spare tire. The guy that designed the JT specifically mentions that 35 will fit in factory location, but knowing the brand like he should and wanting this Jeep to be just a capable as the new Wrangler, bigger tires are always going to be necessary comparatively. I'm interested to see where companies place the 40-inch tires. Overall, though circling back to my original thought, why not make 37-inch spare tire fit in the factory location. It seems like a bit of over sight. It's 2018, the 2008 Alpha 5.3 V8 H3T Hummer fits 35s factory. I just think 37s going to be much more common place.
Be very interesting to see the aftermarket support for this thing, especially in the area of overlanding.
Oh, I can almost guarantee it'll be HUGE
And the aftermarket company’s go “awesome”!
LOL - pretty much.
Nice video, good content ! damn this Jeep... mhh truck... this "Treep" is great looking !
LOL - so glad you liked it :)
Great video. Any info on the parts on the Mopar accessorized Gladiator ?
I’ll be ordering one late spring. Will you guys be adding one to your fleet ?
Anything in particular you're wanting to know about?
Yes, we will be ordering one.
Awesome. Can’t wait to see yours and what you’ll do to it.
Mainly the suspension. What was added for the lift on it? How much of a lift was it? Tire size they are running. And any info on the bed storage. Is it just a drawer system or is there more too it then that ?
Great video, as always!
Thank you
Is the rubicon also going to have a 4.10 gear ratio or just the max tow package from the sport? Also I heard all the models will have the Dana 44s front and rear 👍🏻
Yes, the Rubicon will ONLY come with 4.10 gears, it's an OPTION on the Sport S. It is my understanding that all models will come with 44s front and rear.
Thanks for the preview. I've been wanting that front camera so bad, I hate not being able to see in front of me. Crescenting hills. My new Fords have 360 cameras. Need that on the Jeep.
Can I put it on my JL Rubicon?
Dang auto correct?
It wouldn't surprise me if an upgrade option becomes available from Mopar.
Great video, thank you!
We're so glad you liked it :)
hmmmm... it feels too long like it was an after thought. i bet it would look way better with a regular 2 door cap, now that would be cool
Yup, 2 door and slightly longer bed
I really hope jeep later offers different cab sizes and maybe a hemi. I would personally want a single cab 6 foot bed. Im also fairly confident that people are going to do gladiator front clips like they had on the jk for this, a little dissapointed that jeep didnt fo that classic grill design.
A classic Gladiator grill would have been nice for sure but, this thing really is pretty nice as is too.
@@wayalife im sure someone will modify the jk gladiator grill to the jkt.
Finally, that looks amazing 😉
Wait till you see it in person :)
Maann how good!!! Want want want
LOL - I think there are a lot of us who feel the same way :)
Do you think it will have a brake controller installed by the factory for pulling trailers?
Unfortunately, it does not have one installed by the factory but Mopar does sell one.
I sees it and I wants it...so DEADLY!
LOL
Have they fixed the welds and put a heavier frame under it? The welds look like something I would do out on the trail.
Welds haven't been an issue for a very long time.
You had me at hello...... you had me at hello
Hey Eddie, will you and Cindy be getting the gladiator with the 3.6, or going with the diesel??
While we would be interested in a diesel, I don't think we're willing to wait for one and truth be told, I can't really see a need for one being that I would never use it to tow. Needless to say, we'll be getting a 3.6L.
Awesome truck!.Great overlanding Jeep
Yup, that's what it'd be best for.,
Step 1 - make a baby.
Step 2 - sell baby.
Step 3 - buy a Jeep Gladiator.
Well played Sir, well played
Bad-ass! A lift and 37s will take care of the break-over and departure angle.
Yup, and it'll help make it look even better :)
Sure cant wait till you guys get one and watch how you build it up to the wayalife specs. Lol
LOL - neither can we!
Who the fuck thumbs down this guy seriously
when they drove it up the stairs I could stop laughing. That looked sooooo bad
Since you are a mod genius 😉 Please do a video on how to add a front facing camera to the JL wrangler and make the video appear on the radio screen! 😃
If you have the right radio or head unit, I have a feeling Mopar will be selling this as a kit.
Have to admit... I didn’t like the gladiator. The pre pictures just didn’t like good for me. But it grew on me. I could see myself in one these for sure.
Great video. Love the new JT
Thank you
Hows the audio setup? I finally got a nice setup in my JK and Im not giving it up now!
Didn't get to hear the sound system on this but if it's anything like the JL, it'll be way nicer than the JK. Trust me, I've own both.
@@wayalife sweet because the alpine system in chief is not bad at all.
Eddie by any chance did you hear anything about when the 3.0 diesel will be available on the Wrangler?
It's supposed to be available in 2020.
They are cool, And I'm betting it will be around September of next year before anyone gets their hands on one.
More than likely, you're probably right. As it is, FCA is "hoping" to open the books to order one at the end of the 2nd quarter.
Hi Eddie, are you going to buy the Jeep Gladiator?
You know it!
but the Rubicon has 4.10 gears like the Sport with Tow Package so the towing capacity should be there same?
Yup, have the same gears. Not sure what the difference is but I suspect that in part, it's a weight issue. The Rubicon is heavier.
I really like it, but I wish Jeep would make the Hemi an option for the JL, and this Gladiator. Nothing wrong with the Pentastar V6, I have it in my 2015 JK Rubicon, but the V8 would add so much more low end torque, and mid range power.
You never know. The Gladiator was just released. Give it a few years.
@@wayalife I understand the truck was just released. This is my opinion..Jeep should have had the Hemi as an option even in the JK. Then as the JLs rolled out the Hemi would have been established in the Jeeps by now. But yeah, we'll see as time goes on.👍
Another nicely done vid. Did you get any hint on pricing?
Nope. Nobody is willing to say. Everything points to it costing more than the JL though.
Yea, that's understandable, @@wayalife. If the starting price is, lets say, a $3000 premium over a comparable JLU, then sign me up. But of course I'm going to wait for the diesel before I consider pulling the trigger. Until then I'll just keep enjoying, and modding, my Sport S.
Again, great vid man. You and LiteBrite are my fave jeepers on UA-cam. Keep it up.
This is awesome!!!
Yes it is :)
Love it, wish I could own one.
I just hope they do a 2 door for those of us who dont care about rear seating. Or at least a halfcab.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's gonna happen.
I saw another video where the Jeep dude said that a 2 dr will not happen. Disappointed.
I'll never own a 4 door Jeep
What are these new axles for this gladiator to handle the truck payloads?
Can’t wait to see the price. Gonna be a small market.
Not gonna be cheap.
I can't wait to see what people do with these
I can't wait to be one of those people :)
Looks totally badass, where’s the rest of the JL experience videos?
We're working on them and would have preferred to finish them ahead of this video but felt this reveal was worthy of bumping things for a week. Sorry for the delay.
No problem, I agree with you
We appreciate your understanding :)
Can you find out if it will be offered with HALF DOORS?!?! And when?
There are no half doors available for anything as of yet. Not for this or the JL.
How much the rubicon gladiator runs for ?
Outstanding job awesome thanks
Was somewhat excited, saw the wheelbase,....nah, I’m out!
theninja001 come in man that truck is wanting ( was made for) 40” tires
Needs a 2 door version!
Did AEV have any input or did jeep ask or collaborate?
I don't think AEV has been involved with anything Jeep for a while now. If anything, they've been working with Chevy to create the Bison.
I WANT ONE!!!
ME TOO :)
Yes please!
What a Jeep! Love it!🤟🏽😀👍🏽
It really is nice :)
Thought I'd never want to trade my 97 Tj in but Jeep is making it really hard 🤔😁
LOL!! I thought I'd never sell my other JK but had to after seeing this truck.
@@wayalife if you get your hands on one I'll be looking for your vids! 🤙🏽
Let's hope a 2 door version with a 6.5ft bed is in the works. I'll never own a 4 door Jeep
Looks like you'll never own one of these then.
$40-50k saved on a fiat product. It is unlikely this monster jeep will do any better than my GMC sierra 4x4 with the same tires and wheelbase at many thousands less
Can't wait to see the gladiator on 37s
Hoping my Gladiator will be one of the first :)
Was that Rubicon in Gobi? It looks a little bit lighter in color?
Yup, that would be Gobi you're looking at.
So a Sport Gladiator can tow 7,600, but a Rubicon Gladiator can only tow 7,000 which costs more. I'll wait for the diesel or a v8.
The Sport comes with smaller tires than a Rubicon, weighs less and the rear springs are also more heavy duty to carry a greater load. The Rubicon rear coils are softer to allow for more flex.
I think it’s just ok.... wondering if the price will hit $70K loaded.
Nice video
It very well could be.
I sell both my kidneys for this and live off dialysis.
LOL
Wow can wait for the diesel option come out so i could tow my jk to the trail. 👍👍👍
Good luck trying to tow your JK with it.
Nice off road truck with a long wheel base.
Yup, super nice :)
That introduction made my testosterone level rise lol
LOL!! Jeep does some epic reveals for sure :)
I'll take two!
LOL - there ya go :)
@@wayalife I wish brother still trying to get a JKU.
Nice 👍 video. Thanks 🙏
So glad we could take you to the show with us :)
Nice ⛺
