@@wickedlee664 Pretty sure bstang93 meant the time depicted in the scene from Andy Griffith. And I fully agree. I'd never come back, knowing what I know about the world now.
My family sang this to us as kids. I know the kids version, instead of washed we say warshed, and instead of suppers over and dinners cooking, we were taught suppers over breakfast is cooking.
The Andy Griffith Show and Little House on the Prairie are the only ones who sing this version I know and love i looked online for other people singing this version but everyone else says "you're to late to get your supper" when its actually "he's to late to get his supper" and other lyrics online are screwed up as well
I always sing "It's too late to get your supper." There are a lot of different ways people sing this song and I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it.
Nine years old. This youngster had a very good future that others helped him build. I wonder, though, if it was just as easy giving oral book reports, in school.
America is much better now thanks to the Democratic Party. Life was Hell back in these oppressive days at the hands of these heirs of Colonialism. You didn't even have flamboyant, openly gay people back then. What a racist comment, bigot.

That is confusing. Supper is usually in the evening in contrast to dinner at roughly 12 noon. I like both. Fix Mr. Tucker a nice dinner. Roast chicken!
Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of Mr. Edwards on little house on the prairie.
My dad used to sing it too. I probably knew the words when I was about Opie's age here. (come to think of it, Opie - Ron, that is - IS my age.)
Same at my son's school its says it at 3C-2 on lil house on prairie
When I hear Mr Edwards sing it I think of Andy and Opie.
Same. I think of Mr. Edwards right away.
Yesssss
One of my favorite episodes. Little Ron Howard was such a cute little boy.
Andy Griffith was a carbon copy of my Grandad. Best man I ever knew growing up. Lost Daddy at 5, but Grandad was always there.
One of my favorite shows ever.
Same
When the world was a great place to live in. Too much weird stuff going on now
You got that right.
I mean there was segregation and racism but okay
@@grandone126 and it's better now?
No thats Hollywood America at the time. Life wasn't like that.
@@Jason-qc4ty Well you are certainly living up to your name... LOL
Actually, yes it was - I lived it. Of course, I'm ancient.
If I could get out of the world today i would take a time machine back to this time period. They call them the good ol days for a reason.
I would do the same.
The time period Andy Griffith was made it the time Old Dan Tucker was written? They are separated by roughly 100 years.
AOC says those were tragic days and it's all the white man's fault.

One of the best versions of this song!
I argee!
Does it get much better, a "dad" and his "son" having a moment in the best show ever...classuc!!
it might've been the one time that Ron Howard ever sang and he sounded good with Andy 😃
He sang in "The Music Man." He played Winthrop.
He sang toot toot tootsie
This is a great episode of Andy Griffith. I love the looks that Mr. Darlin is giving Aunt Bee.

Mr. Edward at the LittlecHouse on The prairie 👍
Thank you ,that was awesome.
i like that song old Dan Tucker.
You can see how Ron is trying so hard... And Andy is proud
Opie is sooo cute
to bad people anit like this no more
I like Opie singing and Andy
I didn't know Opie could sing. Pretty good though.

Not for black people.
I like Opie one thing he did great he one never rat out on his friends
This song is always in my head
Me too.
This show is my "safe place." You get what I mean by that??
Love that tune.
yep andy griffith.. an now we got jersey shore, dont it get better..
Here it is 2024 and I can’t even get my 9 year old son to say hello to me.
Love it!!!!!!!!!! 🥰
I love Drisco Darling in those episodes because he was quite a character.
I visited Dan Tucker's grave in Elbert County, GA only 20 miles from where I live in SC
❤
Bet Ron still remembers the words...
Yea
I think Ron’s reputation was he never forgot his lines .
Although I am a Ron Howard fan, there never will be an actor that can sing Old Dan Tucker better than Victor French!
Where is the volume? I don't hear it.
I heard it now. It's great.
I like the way Brisco Darlin was looking at Aunt Bee.
Aunt Bee’s return glance of horror is classic.
Love this song...lol.
Sometimes I wonder if Ron Howard remembers singing this and hums it to himself on set or whenever
nice back up band, I think that interior stone has some acoustics y'all
hey he is cute and you should look at him now
FIRST TO THE RIGHT, THEN TO THE LEFT THEN TO THE GIRL HE LIKES THE BEST❗❗❗❗❗❗
andy griffin shoulda put out an album
Cute Opie awwwww
I'm here because of Little House.
Supper's over and dinner's cooking never made sense to me, doesn't dinner come before supper ? Lol
whats the difference between supper and dinner?
In the South, dinner is the mid-day meal and supper is the night meal.
@@southernyuppie and traditionally in England too
wait, aren't supper & dinner the same thing?
Supper's over and dinner's cooking?? I've always been confused by these words! I thought dinner and supper were the same thing??
Supper just means a small meal in the evenin. Kinda like an appetizer
in the south, dinner is lunch and dinner is supper.😃
Supper is dinner.......I think.
I still haven't figured out how Dan Tucker had a toothache in his heel.
That is confusing. Supper is usually in the evening in contrast to dinner at roughly 12 noon. I like both. Fix Mr. Tucker a nice dinner. Roast chicken!
How's supper over but dinner is cooking. Isn't supper and dinner the same thing?
Depends on the country.
He ended up choosing the wrong career path.
Sickening
I hope you are joking. Or at least mean sickening in the sense of, "That Opie has some sick singing skills!"
@@dolam Your conclusion is correct my good man.
