I find it bizarre that nobody talks about how cool it looks.
ugh look at the huge white warning text on the right side of the slide. yuck. HK did it best by printing that crap underneath the trigger guard.
I love the looks and the brand name. It looks more aggressive than Glock. Glock is smooth and solid.
It looks better than the Glock... but not as good as the Canik
Exactly! Just ordered my .40 version, should get it tomorrow!
@636lover1 the glocks look too boxie
Damn! Sootch00 you have sold me so many guns with your reviews, my wife said in order to get this one I should trade something in for it, So I said farewell to my wife and traded her in for it, and man was that the best thing I have ever done.
Brewski478 #winning!
Rain sounds
😂😂🤣🤣
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣crazy 🤣🤣🤣
I get it. You tell the pros and cons without needlessly bashing products.. that's appreciated, also your videos are family friendly with none of the yelling and constant F-bombs.. it's why I subscribe and watch. Thanks!
Dana V Because Sootch is the Godfather of firearm reviews imo. He reviews them in a classy, meticulous, and organized fashion. When I want an opinion on weapons, he's the first channel I go to.
Dana V sooooo you're a fragile vagina, got it.
He gives terrible reviews because he's not critical. He gives overviews, not reviews. He's never disliked anything.
Maximus Joseppi Did you not listen to his video? Where he says he gives pros and cons? Go to hell man. Seriously if you don't like him don't bash him and ruin it for the people that do like him. Why are you watching his videos if he gives "terrible reviews"? You're still apparently subbed to him. One does not need to curse and yell and rave to get a point across. I so happen to use bad language, but if he doesn't, more power to him. I've been watching his videos for about 3 years and at least I know if I'm buying a firearm, if he has reviewed it, it's going to be good.
Ultimatecoincrazed haha I didn't bash him? I said he doesn't give reviews, he gives overviews. That didn't mean I don't like his videos, they just are not truly critical. A review implies a critical analysis with the possibility of it being negative.
Go find a video where he said something sucked and not to buy it. I won't hold my breath, ready set go.
He reviewed the Gen 5 glock 19 as being a good gun ROFL. Thing is the shittiest pistol you could possibly buy today. Real reviewers will say that, not sootch that gets given everything for free.
Maximus Joseppi You need to listen and watch his videos before commenting. He said he won't review it if it sucks. So everything on his channel has passed his stamp of approval as far as quality. And saying he gives terrible reviews and insulting a fellow subscriber just makes you look like a jackass, and does, if I'm not mistaken, fit the definition of "bashing". One does not get well over half a million subscribers by not creating quality content. How many subs does he have? Let me check, oh half a million. How many do YOU have? 421. And since you are so quick to jump all over the dude, where are your "reviews"? I see one or two at most on your channel.
That S&W makes that Glock look even uglier than they normally do hahaha
The SD9 was the prettier Glock.
Just purchased this for $420 as my first pistol. First generation gun owner here in WA. Recovering from years of anti gun propaganda growing up in CA. Thanks for your solid review and enthusiasm about this pistol. I can't wait to take it to the range!
My first gun too. I think I've had mine for four years?
Also here in WA, this was my first gun too. I bought it for around $500 a little over 2 years ago. I knew nothing about it and the seller was impressed by my choice. I just liked the way it looked 😆
$100 cheaper than a Glock and a LifeTime Warrantee, that's a good selling point!
I own this gun already and it has some Hang-Ups I don't know if it was because it wasn't well-greased but dry as it came with dry ammo every time I tried to cock the gun slowly or at a medium speed it would hang up the 9 mm
U got clean factory grease out an lube it good i got the 3.6 and its fone
Fine
And way better lookin.....
And made in the USA
great review as always.
Thanks Mike! Always appreciated Brother
sootch00 sir.. i knocked the texture down with 800 grit automotive sandpaper. Worked awesome. Cant even tell i did anything

Mrgunsngear Channel yes I agree, now waiting on mrgunsngear review!
sootch00 Hey Sootch! Hey Everybody!!! The new M&P 2.0 compact looks almost as sweet as My delicious instant banana bread muffin mix made fresh from the oven! Who whoooo whoo whoooo!
Just bought this gun and its great. Fits exactly what I wanted.
Compact, easy conceal carry, reliable, and good handling.
I'm purchasing this firearm.
@@hurricane4500 I want a smith and Wesson M&P but not sure which model yet.
And made in the USA!😎🇺🇸
Who's here because California just got this pistol on the roster?
I'm thinking this will be the Glock GEN 3 killer because everyone already has one or two. Time for something new or begone with the roster all together
Ah, yes...the good old days when we were actually able to buy ammo without taking out a second mortgage.
Been getting 1k rnds 9mm for around $300-350 nowadays. Still not as cheap as before but at least they are now readily available locally and online.
No one is forcing you to buy
@@briandaniel931 No one is forcing me to breath either, but shooting comes as natural to me as does breathing. Thanks for the advice.
You really should be doing voice overs for Home Depot or Ace hardware. You'd make a shit load of money.
Lol! Thanks Sean.
Been a Glock guy for years. My job dictates I carry the S&W 2.0 and I've come to like it.....a lot. I've since bought this firearm and I'm very pleased with it.
Got mine at Academy today for $399/ with a $75 gift card. That made it $325' sweet. Tennessee
Jeff Carter I got mine last week for $399 plus 500 rounds included. Looks like we hit the jackpot.
@@matthewgood7665 Awesome
Matthew Good Online? That’s a steal
Smoky Mountain Knife and Ammo has them for $349.
Jeff Carter just picked 1 up, $309 on sale w night sights
Just picked one of these up an hr ago. My first firearm and this seemed like a great all around gun for home defense, target practice or to carry in the future if needed. It was between this and the glock 19 which you included in the video. This feels better in my hand which is what ultimately made my decision. Thanks for the review!
Glocks are overrated. S&W has been making guns 150 years before Glock
MEDIC MIKE yes and best of all, made in the USA 🇺🇸
How and where did you buy it? I live in xLos Angeles CA. Gun shop told me its illegal for some reason
Jessie Castro I’m not too sure but they may not make a California compliant version of this gun. I live in Ohio and have the M2.0 compact 9mm that holds 15+1. In California I believe you guys are limited to ten rounds in a magazine?
@@ohiobassangler8781 thanks bud! I did my research and it turns out there is a very little amount of handguns that are California compliant, and you're right. Limited to 10+1 in Cali... Need to move ASAP!
You could serve dinner on the slide of the 320
Haha I know right !
Hahahahhahahah
Haha
I've had multiple s&w m&p's, 2.0s, etc and they really weren't worth their price in quality, manufacturing or reliability compared to better & cheaper alternatives. They are not worth more than hi-point. I haven't even gotten to 200 rounds and already my m&p 2.0 is malfunctioning. Failure to extract, failure to cycle, double feed & not to mention the slide kept locking up after each shot (mind you I'm using good quality ammo & oil like I do with my Caniks, Tisas or Sars, and runs like a clock). I've heard horror stories of the m&p literally blowing up with symptoms like this so therefore I have deemed this joke of a firearm unsafe & not recommend to anyone who doesn't like hot dangerous garbage. And s&w is an even bigger joke as their only help is to say "use good ammo, oil it good" or "here's 5% off on the same m&p as an apology for our hot garbage gun".
M&P's Blowing Up LOL! You're an AssHat!
I think it's better if the grip is too aggressive from the factory. It's easier to sand down the grip if you don't like it, than to have someone stipple it if you need something more aggressive.
Andy agree completely! Give me the rough texture all day.
good point
I think I’m looking at my first firearm
Did you get one?
I’m picking up mines today 😊
I guess I've never had a problem with S&W m&p triggers. They aren't the best I've ever used, but not even close to the worst. Reliability is what I'm interested in. So far the m&p line has never made me question it. They feel great, shoot great, built great, and are reliable.. not to mention made right here in my favorite place, the good ol' USA! I chose to put food on American tables when I can... It's getting harder and harder to do.
John W well said
Agreed. We've become little pansies when it comes to triggers. If you shoot the gun accurately then whats the problem?
Thanks
I have a first generation Shield and some say the trigger stinks on it, but I manage to put good groupings together without much fuss. Very serious about getting one of these as I love the Shield and it's a S&W so I'm confident that it will last. The one time I ever needed to use their warranty service I was impressed with what they did to correct my 622 that was having issues going into battery, stove piping, and failing to always eject. They put a master gunsmith on it and he signed off that the gun was fixed. That was 25 years ago and I've shot thousands of rounds through it since without a hiccup which is very good considering 22 ammo isn't always the most robust or consistent in quality. A company that truly backs up their products is hard to find these days.
And if you train the trigger becomes irrelevant. Shot some really sloppy triggers back in the day, but the more I trained with it the trigger became irrelevant as long as I stayed with the fundamentals... GOD Bless and good shooting..
It’s a 10 for me. I always wear a T shirt and a shirt so no issues on the grip. Love the tactile grip and the accuracy of the gun. Lastly, those palm swells make a huge difference on your grip, unlike Glocks. Great gun, and I would add that you get more of a gun with Smith and Wesson than Glock with those cheap sights, which most everyone swaps out for an extra $100.
Holy smokes what a neat offering from S&W. Great review as always, Sootch!
$339 at Cabela's. I saw that price on their website and had to order it.
I purchased my full size M&P9 M2.0 with a 4.25 in barrel ,and 2 17 round magazines for $409. Full size but it's not some giant gun. Fairly compact for a full size pistol. Only slightly bigger than the compact version. Maybe not as concealable but a super comfortable shooting gun.
Yes the MP 9 2.0 4.25 LE is the BEST Fire arm everyday congralutationns friend 👍🏼👏🤠🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
It's so dumb how they make their full size gun a quarter inch shorter and sell it as a "compact". There's nothing compact about this gun
S&W all day everyday
Love this gun! I've been begging S&W to make this gun since 2005. I never could figure out why they chose not to even compete with the world's most popular handgun -- the Glock 19 -- for more than a decade. It just didn't make sense! Thankfully they've finally decided to do so, and I got mine!
Sootch, I am VERY sorry for thinking/saying you get perks from BCM, I felt terrible for buying into that and I truly apologize. Also I was not meaning to say anything bad about you, I simply thought you had an honest bias, like if I were to ask the owner of Daniel Defense what the best rifle is, it wouldn't make sense because to me he will sell me a DD, Nothing wrong with that but in my experience ive learned the best info comes from those with no bias, I meant no harm, sometimes I'm just a bit to blunt and forthright, I have been a big fan for years now. I hope you can forgive me and I have asked God to help me with making false assumptions. Justin.
Hey Justin, You're good. There's a lot of drama going on about UA-cam channels making lot of money. I understand where it's coming from and there should be disclosure. Just like my deal with Gun Pro deals. Gun channels have lost 70% of their ad earnings. If it wasn't for Patreon, I'd be in trouble. If I receive money or items from a company, I'll mention it. Gun Pro Deals want their name out there, they have great prices and service. It's a win win for all.
The truth is, I've been on UA-cam 9 Years and if people can't trust me to say what I really think, I'd never have grown to this size. I will never say anything dishonest about a product.... ever. My preferences change so I may have different a opinion of a product 5 years from now, but I will only be honest. No ones agrees on everything so we need each other to see it from different perspectives. It keeps the Gun Community Honest. Thanks for your comment.
Bought mine from iAMMO they gave me a voodoo tactical bag and a extra mag plus it came with night sights for 457 shipped
Say whaaaaat? Tax return can't come fast enough and or, anyone wanna buy/trade for a AK?
Waiting for mine to arrive at the gun store for pickup. Didn't get all the fancy stuff though
G19g5 Og same I cant find it for under $499.... I’m seeing comment of people getting them for $350 $400 years ago, wtf?
G19g5 Og that’s the first place I look they normally do have great prices. It’s 499 on there right plus it’s out of stock
JeffTheChef I may have looked at the wrong one but I saw one for $469
They should come with an Apex trigger from the factory though 😅👍
CONSTITUTIONALLY CORRECT yes!
I agree the Apex kit is superior to the stock trigger, but the 2.0 trigger is perfectly adequate, and actually very good after about 500rds. Which is the minimum I put a new handgun through before even considering it for carry.
Irish Rover a good carry gun doesn’t need a break in period to function flawlessly. Stop buying tight-toleranced gun safe queens like 1911s and nothing needs to be broken in.
BluewaterBoof You didn’t really read what he wrote, did you?
I wish lol
You've sold me. I will buy this before I buy a Glock 19 (Gen 5).
That's what I did and now I'm looking to buy a glock 19
@@hectorortiz8633 Tell us all about your experience...
I'm not normally an S&W fan, but will give them credit. There's a lot to like about this gun, w/some neat features.
Sootch, you should do a video on proper pistol grip......you shoot rapid fire like a boss.
2.0 compact is the perfect sized handgun in my opinion. 4 inch barrel for accuracy at the range and home defense. Excellent features for the price point. I'm just an average shooter, my groups are tight at 7 - 15 yards. 20-25 yards I can still hit center mass. 500 rounds of different ammo through mine and zero malfunctions. Hard to beat at the 310 I paid for mine new. They're much more expensive now.
I found a few for $400 . Still very good price. I was wondering if you dry fire at all? Will it damage the firing pin?
That Smith sure looks better than that Glock.
jared lee looks better but its not....
Danny Day that's debatable....alot of people think it is
They’re both great guns...just a matter of what the shooter is comfortable with, but you can’t go wrong either way
jared lee...James Yeager has this as his carry weapon...In his own words "Well it is a Smith&Wesson Glock 19"😂
@@The-Homecook-0000 ...someone needs reassuring huh?
Picked mine up for $439 a few weeks ago. Been carrying it every day. Great review Sootch!
I got the same gun it an excellent and beautiful M&P 9mm compact ...
I have always thought the M&P series are great looking guns and I always handle them when I go to a gun shop, but I cannot add another platform to what I own. But if I did it would be some M&Ps. Great video as always. John
I love this gun. I was contemplating between a Glock 19 gen 5 and this gun and you’re damn right I went with this M&P. It looks far way better than the Glock. I have the canik tp9sf elite and love just as much, but the all black on this M&P, the looks, and the gun itself makes it my favorite.
Great review. I just recently switched from the Glock 22 to the S&W M&P .40 M2.0 for duty use and shoot the M&P way better than I ever shot my Glock. Even just screwing around, I shoot better on an IPSC target than I have ever done on my best qualification run with the G22. The only pistol I shoot better with is the 1911. I'd certainly have no reservations getting a compact M&P in 9mm for concealed carry.
Just a note for those who care. The slide stop really shouldn't be used to release the slide on a mag change and isn't even designed to do so. The proper, more efficient and reliable method, is to bring the support hand down on top of the slide at the rear to mid-point grasping it with all four fingers and the heel of the hand, rack it violently to the rear and release it so the slide travels forward at full velocity. This is so it can reliably strip the first round from a full, tightly loaded magazine and feed it into the chamber without hanging up. Trying to use fine motor skills while your bacon is about to drop into the fire could cause you to lose precious time making you Runner-up, which is no place to be in a self-defense event.
Good point. S&W magazines do get tight as you fully load them. Even the ones that have been used for some time get that way.
Looking for a new carry gun. I almost bought a Glock. This helps, thank you.
Probably the most thorough review I have ever seen excellent 👍
The bloopers at the end are always a favorite part of your videos, not just because they're funny but because they show how much effort put in to produce and edit the main video. Appreciate it buddy!
M&P pistols are very accurate.
Yes thanks
Barely accurate, m&p 2.0s are not worth more than hi-point. GREAT GUN... Smith & Wesson nailed it!
Just picked one up and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Yes I am a glock fan and usually carry my 19 but now my glock is going to sit in my safe for well....a while. This gun in my opinion rocks!! I had the money and choice between this gun and the gen 5 glock 19 and I am glad I got this one for sure!!! Could not justify spending more money on the new glock when its not really different then my gen 3 glock 19. again just my opinion.
@Nikola Tesla would you recommend for a first gun?
If you hadn't already had a glock 19, would you have gone with the M&P over the Gen 5 G19?
@@AriezGirl_78 Yes. First gun.
I really like this Smith & Wesson. I have had it for about 6 months and runs flawless. Sootch00 really helped me on this decision. Could not be happier. I was able to buy mine for $400.00 on a hot deal from Academy Sports.
I still have my M&P from when they first came out probably20 some yrs.ago & it still looks brand new. And also trigger sucks..lol very spongy, now I also had the 2.0 very nice gun. Anyway nice video.🇺🇸 MERICA
Trigger trigger trigger. I get tired of hearing about all this namby pamby BS about the trigger. If you can't hit the 10 inch steel at 25 yards, it's not the trigger. It's you. Get over yourself and practice.
No kidding.

Best comments from the crew...
Its manageable.
Its upgradable. Trigger questions.
Trigger operational. But not great.
To many users go for after market trigger.
Handling is good. But why do we continue to compare this pistol with a glock.
Smith& Weesson engineers.
You can do better.
Another thorough review. Will also watch this video on the other place. :)
The Glock 19 Gen 4 or 5 is a much better deal and gun the S&W .02 all anything else is just not for you
The points are very complicated
That's why you order police departments use them for the last 20 years they work 100%, it's nothing less than had so many problems a lot of the their guns go back and you got to wait months till they send it back to you 😢👎
I have both the 9mm and .40cal 2.0 compacts and a 9mm 2.0 shield. Love these fantastic pistols.
Finally this has become CA compliant. The question is, will this have a 10 lb trigger like it says in the S&W website?
Picked up my 4” compact for $360 😁

Anything specific for you that makes it better then the 19? I carry a 19, so I'm interested.
Or is it just personal likability/shootability for you?
Joe Morrell I carry a 27 and honestly I don't like it because it only has the trigger safety.
She’s beautiful!
Great review brother. M&P has always been a great platform. This will be my next purchase.
I am a die hard Sig guy but also have a 9mm M&P along with my 10mm. It is a BEAST !!!!!!! So far no issues after about 500 rounds. Did yours come with that nice box?? I got the old crappy cardboard box. S&W needs to step up their game !
I began my migration away from my Gen3 and Gen4 Glocks, which I carried for almost 10 years, to the S&W M&P 9 M2.0 series beginning in 2019.
All my M&P gun boxes are the cheap cardboard.
On the bright side, they're neat and easy to store.
I have one with the Manual Safety, can you recommend a good case for it?
I bought a S&W case from Natchezss..com for 10.99 today 11-24-20 on sale
Would you consider doing a review in the late model with the new front serrations and flat face triggers? Even better gun!
Definitely a much and better finish than the new Gen 5 Glocks.
Love mine, great gun. Mines the optic ready version. Mine has front serrations all the way up
I just came here for the music and the mustache.
Just picked one up last week range bag,s&w knife and 2 boxes of ammo for $370
Sootch is dead on with this one! Just got back from the range with mine. Love it! The rough finish is no problem shooting as I had thought it might be....he is dead on with wanting to wear an undershirt between you and the gun if you are going IWB.
Congrats to S&W for introducing a gun that should have been introduced 10 years ago.
Alex K. The M&P line was introduced in 2005 or are you referring to the M&P Compact?
Yes, to this very model. Of all the pistol "size" categories, compact is the most important one.
@@HelplessTeno Well said. It is to you. If you own one then it's just in time and if you don't then why does it matter?
True. The flip side is, congrats to Glock for making the same pistol they've been making for 30 years and calling it new.

JayzBeerz u got it buddy. Good luck. To me these 2.0 compacts are the best thing going right now
Wow! 3 years ago it came with a hard case!!! 🤯 all this money I paid for a cardboard box
Could you do a review on the taurus th9, been thinking of getting this pistol but I'm not sure!
I see he promotes Freedommunitions. Y'all think that's a good ammo brand?
I found the trigger on the 2.0 compact to be pretty good, Id say it's comparable to the glock, It's just that the hinged shoe design makes it feel odd. I also shot my p10c side by side with the 2.0c and found that though the trigger is definitely better on the p10, The m&p 2.0 compact is the flatter shooting pistol. Just my opinion.
Thanks for sharing this observation. Would you say, then, that a 2.0c with an upgraded trigger that was comparable to P-10c's would then be an overall better shooting gun than the P-10c? At least for yourself?
Paul Stella I would say if you put an apex in the 2.0 compact, you have a damn near perfect carry pistol. The controls are all much more smoother than the p10c right out of the box. The mag release, the slide stop, all much more easier to use. When you push the mag release the mag comes flying out of the bottom. The CZ fruitcakes are going to hate me saying this but I think the m&p 2.0c is the best new polymer pistol of 2017, not the p10. If there was such thing as the “glock killer” it’s not the p10c. Also we are starting to see in the CZ groups people are finding stress fractures inside of the frame where the main trigger pin goes through. I’ve seen multiple examples of this happening. People just don’t see it till they take their pistol down. I haven’t got around to checking my p10c yet but it has about 1200 rounds through it and I’m definitely concerned.
Really a great grip and trigger is improved, not VP9 land but better. I really like this compact pistol and i will get this soon! Thanks!
Xbridgeman1975x thank you for the detailed reply. Thinking I might have to check out a 2.0 Compact
Personally, all I did to mine was put in a flat faced Apex trigger shoe. I did not put in the trigger bar or any of the other springs or parts. In my opinion that was all it needed, it smoothed out the little bit of grittiness it had with the factory trigger. I have a full size 2.0 with a full Apex trigger kit in it and there is little difference between the two.
I always figured you were just like me; you genuinely love firearms and shooting. I'd be hard pressed to find anything that I absolutely hate. Everything has pros and cons for sure, and this is all very subjective; what I love, others may not, etc.

sootch00 oh so sorry... FIRST .. FIRST!!!! OMG I'M FIRST!!! BAHHAHAHA
You're the man!
I've carried a first gen M&P45 since 2009 on duty. When the slide is locked back, it auto-forwards every time I insert a magazine. It's a flaw, but it does it every time, so it makes for a nice, fast mag change because I don't have to manipulate the slide or slide stop. I purchased my own 2.0 9mm compact a few years ago and despite the "extended chassis" and spring loaded detent on the slide stop, it still auto-forwards, but it does so less reliably than my duty pistol.
I called Smith and they agreed that this shouldn't happen. I sent it in for work, they kept it a month, said nothing was wrong with it and sent it back. When I called to ask why they didn't address the issue, the rep basically told me that this can happen with a polymer pistol and that I'm causing the problem by inserting the magazine too aggressively. Seriously, that's what they said. The only pistols that do this are my duty pistol and my 2.0. My Shield 2.0 doesn't do it and neither does my Bodyguard .380.
I like the pistol and the way it shoots, but I will not carry a pistol for defense that I can't trust. I used to be hard core pro-Smith, but now I'm done with them. Just a friendly heads up to anyone that's considering this pistol.
she is beautiful baby America made🇺🇸
Nice review but never do that to your mustache and beard again. Lol
Best gun reviewer on youtube hands down!
Features alone are worth the purchase !! Metal sights that Glock should have changed , years ago and so many other things !! Looking at the Smith for sure !!
Those plastic sights on a $550+ gun from Glock Profit Center drive me crazy.
Great pistol, been carrying my 3.6 for a few years now!
95% I’ll purchase one, “just on your review 👌🏻🙏🏻.. Tks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience. God Bless!! Just subscribed 😊
Really regret selling this beauty. I might just pick her up again
I sold my .40 variant and bought the 9mm variant two weeks later there’s not much else in the price range as smooth with a pic rail and some come optic ready
S&W M&P is going for $300. That’s a steal
Glocks are overrated you pay for a cheap gun that don't have nothing on it
I don't know that they're overrated. They are overpriced.
I got the subcompact, great gun for concealed carry and for light easy wear
