Coelos Ascendit, Stanford

This is the second of three films recorded prior to Lockdown, and features the Cardinal Vaughan Schola Cantorum singing Coelos Ascendit by Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924), a short motet composed for the Feast of the Ascension.
Today has gone up into glory
Jesus Christ, the King of glory,
who sits on the right of the Father
and who rules heaven and earth. Alleluia.
Now all the songs of the Patriarch David
have been fulfilled,
now the Lord sits with the Lord
on the throne of God. Alleluia.
In this great triumph
let us bless the Lord,
let the Holy Trinity be praised,
let us give thanks to God. Alleluia. Amen.
