- This video demonstrates how to fix an intermittant horn on a 2012 #Toyota #Auris (in the UK) or #Corolla.
It's caused by a bad ground contact for the button, resulting in a lack of horn!
Use a screwdriver to push the metal bars in both the side holes, while pulling the unit forwards, and it will pop out.
You can scrape the metal to give a cleaner surface then just push it back together, and....
Thanks, I have a 2012 model that appears to be a hybrid between 2011 and later 2012 models. However this video applies to my car. The horn that was intermittent but has been completely defective for the last year has been fixed by following this video, so thanks very much.
Fixed or not,i don't think that horn is gonna scare anybody😂
Thankfully it's not supposed to, but is a legal requirement
Same problem I had with my Corolla. Contact problem. Replaced the horn without result until I finally solved the problem like u did..🎉 thank you
Good to hear! It's a rubbish design :(
@@DeannaEarley yh...the horn switch should have been coated with copper to ensure proper ground contact
I have a Toyota Corolla 2013 S. The horn isn’t working. I’m gonna use your video as reference. I hope everything in my car similar to this one so I can fix it
Hopefully it all goes well!
Did it work?
Thank you very much- your video saved my life 😊
Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you very much 👍
Very helpful!
Thanks
Thank you!
Hello sir thank you for your magnificent video thanks to you I managed to repair the horn of my vehicle again a big thank you
Same in 2011 toyota verso
Thanks 👌
I was able to get one side open but struggling with other side. The horn is working continuously but have to close as neighbours will be annoyed
Yeah, the wire clip is stubborn! I also annoyed my neighbours for ages while trying to get it out.
Maybe drive to the middle of nowhere and have a go, you'll get it :)
Also, if struggling that way around, try getting the stuck one open alone first.
One of them out more pressure on the other is opened first, making it much harder.
@@DeannaEarley yea I was thinking of that but I remembered I can remove the horn fuse. So I scraped it but forgot to raise the thin metal contacts on each side. Thanks again.
@@droidhacking all good now?
@@DeannaEarley so far so good.
I don't understand how to access the clip through the holes and unlock them. Should you push towards the bottom of the whole or pull the clip towards one side of the hole? When I put the screwdriver in the hole apart from triggering the horn I do not engage the clip for disassembly. A solution on what to do to disassemble? (Auris HSD 2012)
You push the bar in, towards the centre of the wheel.
The springs should make it pop forward a bit once it clears its catch.
Is it necessary to remove the airbag connector?
If you can support it without removing it, nope. It wasn't any hassle to remove it, and I was doing it one handed so I did.
@@DeannaEarley thanks, does the battery need to be disconnected?
@@droidhacking nope...
@@DeannaEarley just worried about the airbag
@@droidhacking feel free to disconnect the battery if you want, but you don't need to.
