The Noventa is the most exciting strat to come out in quite a while IMO...It's next to impossible to find hardtail strats anymore, and this has p90s on top of it. Amazing!
@@xxx-tj6cj I've been looking at that (online). I was at my local Guitar center a few weeks back looking to check one out but they didn't have one....What's the neck like? Fat?, Thin? Medium Jumbo frets?
@@thestratman7903 it got like a medium C I think, feels good in the hand, not too thick or too thin, and a dark rosewood fretboard, alder body to, Not sure what the fret wire is, but they are definitely thicker than vintage, a wild guess is medium jumbos? I think its the best bang for your buck strat, if you dont like the new pau ferro boards, besides that, hardtail strats are few on the market. its a great guitar:)
I have a couple of strats and a tele, all worth more than $2k each. I’ve been playing my friend’s Vintera for a week now and I have never heard single coil Strat pickups sound as good as these. And I have Fralins, Seymour Duncan’s and Van Zandts. The Vintera is an incredible guitar. It stays in tune well with the locking tuners and the appointments make for a great vintage vibe all around. I do like the improvements of a modern c neck and taller frets. It sounds like U2’s the Edge, Streets Have No Name or Hendrix. It has a great vintage sweet clean tone. The pickup magnets pull a lot so keeping them a little lower solves that and adds more chime and bell like tone. Just turn the amp up more if it sounds like the volume decreased from setting them low. They have more output than my SSL-1s.. I use the tremolo a lot and it stays in tune well. I lubed the contact points of the strings. There is nothing I can say bad about it. It is truly inspiring to play. The neck is smooth. Really an incredible deal for the money!
I have the modified strat, & it’s honestly one of the best guitars I’ve ever owned. The neck is so comfy. I write my songs with lots of barre chords so it’s nice to have a comfy neck that doesn’t make my hand feel in pain while playing. I’m getting the noventa next cause I love those p90’s
If they made the p90s aged white to match the pickguard the noventa might look like a decent guitar. It looks like someone slapped emgs in a perfectly good Stratocaster.
@@andrewclemons8619 these things sound so good, the black pups on cream will be the least of anyone’s worries trust me. After owing one for a year it’s one of my favourite guitars. I’ve the surf green Noventa Strat since October 2021 and it’s a beautiful guitar. I love the neck position the most. I bought the blonde Noventa Tele soon after! Awesome axes!
I have the MIM Stratocaster Noventa. Other than the vintage placement of the truss rod screw, this guitar is now my fav. I was also a little hesitant about the pau ferro fretboard. Those P-90’s are what sold me in the beginning! The way the entire guitar resonates when I play it has stolen my heart. This guitar is a living, breathing, BEAST of an instrument!! NO REGRETS!!!
The the vintera is a 50’s vintage pickup. It’s supposed to sound like that. You ain’t getting no quack with P90’s. Quack is the quintessential Strat tone used in tons of recordings.
Tasteful playing - truly - thanks for this demo. I’m left thinking a big difference exists, the noise-cancelling 2 and 4 positions on the Strat add a diversity of tones - though they are not unique by any means. Anyway, good demo.
I bought one of these Noventa strats new. I have pretty specific standards of how I like a guitar setup and had to spot level a few frets moving past the 12th. Now it plays really good! I think they're pretty good guitars.
I had actually assembled a frankenstrat with 2P-90's a few years ago (with a Seymour Duncan 1/4 Lb Jazzmaster pickup in the middle position) and it's one of my favorite electrics. I used Duncan Vintage P-90's and opted for the 1/4 lb Jazz master with fatter pole pieces in the middle position to match the output of the soap bars. It's a wonderfully rich sounding guitar with a nice variety of tones. Plus, the 2 & 4 positions sound incredible!.
I think I preferred the Noventa - as you said, it just sounded fuller. I love your playing Cooper; I watch videos for guitars I don't even care about just to hear what you play.
thanks for your super honest review, and the awesome playing! i prefer the noventa too, want to try the strat and the jazzmaster and decide between the two
I built my Squier Noventa and I must say that is my no 1 from now though I have 2 signature Ibanez guitars, that one is spot on, P90s massively exceeded my expectations.
I am very pleased that Fender has started thinking outside the old paradigm, but it has been too long in the coming, so as far as buying one of these, if it had been 10 years ago then I'd have dropped the cash in a heartbeat, however... I actually took an old Samick TR4 Greg Bennett double cutaway and dropped two GFS P90's in it and it is SO amazing that I can't justify this purchase. Of course, it's closer to a Gibson than to a Fender, but I paid maybe $250 total to build that simple machine and it's all I want to play now. Had I not built that, then I'd have sold off a couple of MIM Strats to get this Noventa. I do love the idea of it.
If I didn’t already own a Strat I’d go with the Vintera because it’s more traditional. But seeing I already own two Strats I’d take the Noventa in a heartbeat
I just today picked up a flawless red Noventa Strat stupid cheap, $500. Still has plastic under the knows. I freakin' love it, although I can't make it sound as sweet as you do. I like the Fender P90 more than the Gibson P90, although admittedly I can't recall hearing the Gibson P90 in a 25.5" scale guitar.
I actually had the choice between the Noventa & the Vintera (60s road Worn Ltd edition) I ultimately chose the Vintera. The Noventa looked like an ideal guitar for me. I love Hardtail Strats & p90s. But having watched Troglys review of the Jazzmaster, I realised that I would upgrade the electronics in pretty short order. Nothing really against them, but they don’t have CTS pots & generic p90s that my snobbishness would play on my mind. The Vintera I chose was an Anderson’s exclusive (I’m in UK by the way I think CME has these) in candy apple red, along with 59 pickups as found in the Original Series so I wasn’t going to change anything anytime soon.
Left the middle pickup our for some inexplicable reason, maybe so they can add that in a year and get people to buy the new one (i.e. the Apple model). Until that is fixed (and they add a rosewood fretboard option), the Reverend Jetstream 390 is still the only way to go.
I think I prefer how the Noventa sounds, moreover the hardtail is a plus for me. There is another difference not mentioned, the Vintera has truss rod adjustment at the neck but where is the Noventa?
@@sjazzp Sure. I understand where you are coming from but truth be told how often do you actually need to adjust your truss rod?
