  • The morning we had to pack up was extremely cold, so we started the day with a warm cup of coffee.
    As we continued towards Mabua, taking in the never changing scenery and enjoying the freedom on the twospoor road, we can’t help but reflect back on a spectacular few days we had on the South African side of the Kgalagadi with some fantastic sightings.
    A Recap of those sightings includes a fair share of leopard sightings some which made a lasting impression
    Some remarkable raptors in the Auob Riverbed. If you go to the Kgalagadi for Raptors, you have to make sure to spend a lot of time in the Auob
    Not a lot of lion sightings but it is still noteworthy
    Fantastic next-level honey badger sightings
    And one of our all-time top-of-the-list sightings was the hunting caracal.
    We Stay over at Motopi Campsite 2 and then head over to Khiding Campsite 2 where we camp for four nights.

    If there is one place that fits the definition of peaceful, it is Kgalagadi. Nice video all round.

      True that. The tranquility of the Kgalagadi is just something that cannot be explained but needs to be experienced

    You are clearly very conscientious when it comes to your overlanding (cleaning up after others, not using campsites that you did not book etc.) Very happy to call you a fellow South-African. A class act. In all probability you are also fellow followers of the Lord Jesus Christ Who is God and His Holy Ghost 🙌🏿 ✝️ 🧎🏾. All the best to you and your loved ones - may the Lord be with you...

      Thanks for the comment and for watching.
      It sometimes gets difficult, but one has to be open minded, especially when traveling to an area visited by so many people. It should never spoil the trip.. that is our rule. Rather fix it and keep things in tact for the next visitors

    Awesome episode. Thank you for sharing. So great to see how the track looks from Nossob to Mabua. Last time I I did the route was in July 2010 and it’s amazing how the track is opened up. Good to see that toilets have been built at Motopi as it was a minefield of toilet paper the last time we camped there.
    Thanks for sharing another great adventure. Looking forward to the next one

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching Bruce. The route has changed quite a lot. Even in the last couple of years.
      The irony about the toilets that have been built is that right behind it there is still a minefield of toilet paper lying around. It still is an amazing place though, and we will continue to return there

    Baie goeie video. Terloops wat was jou banddruk in daai dik sand. Dink jy moes hom meer laat sak het. Jy kan self so laag as 1,2 bar gaan

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому

      Hi. Het hom laat sak volgens my TPMS in tires. Dit was foutief-raak daaraan in my volgende video. Ek ry gewoonlik so 2bar agter met companion gehak, en so 1.4 voor. Het uit dik sand gekom n paar keer selfs laer as 1.2. Ek hou maar in gedagte dat die 3ply wiele nie van lae druk hou nie

    • @TheJKreef
      @TheJKreef Рік тому +1

      Ja ek wil saam stem...jy kon dalk bietjie laer laat sak het as 2 bar agter...maar dis ook belangrik dat jou sleeptuig se band druk ook moet laat sak word...anders sleep jy later n ploeg agterna. Ek stem saam dat 3 ply bande nie hou van te lae druk nie...maar as jy stadig ry...behoort jy nie sidewall damage te kry. Kom dit nou van n Sandvelder af🤣

    i would like to ask where did you build the modification on your 79 n the camper as well, its look very nice and well geared for offroad trips. Great trip otherwise

      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому

      Hi,
      Most of the kit is used that I bought and fitted myself.
      The Companion is basic and most additions I made myself.
      Thanks for watching

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому +3

      Hi. We actually prefer campsites to be like that. It makes you feel closer to nature. Really love it. Over commercialized campsites are becoming the norm and takes away the tranquility of the real bush!

    • @bonnyfacemoswetsi
      @bonnyfacemoswetsi Рік тому +1

      Wow okay 👌 if you say so
      One question though, what is the maximum traveling speed when towing a trailer?

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому +1

      @bonnyfacemoswetsi depends on the road conditions. In the bush I would say that it depends, as you should always slow down, even without towing..

    Hi. What was you avg fuel consumption? Curious what the v6 with that trailer gave you.

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Рік тому +3

      Hi. We normally average around 4.5km/l on loose sand roads. 6km/l on slow going roads and around 5-5.5km/l on the open roads towing the companion This time tough we averaged 3.6km/l, but we had a fault with our tire pressures. Was way too low.

    Daar is niks so mooi soos n v6 of n v8 wat sy keel oop maak nie.
