How to chrome nails French tip
Hey guys! This tutorial is how to do a french chrome/mirror tip with gel polish. With this method you can do any style tip: french, chevron, diagonal or whatever you prefer. Play around with it and have fun!

I'm in love with chrome and the holo powders. I'm 44 and have never been into doing my nails but that's all I do now.
They're stunning, fabulous and so glam I can't help watching it over and over again to see if they magically appear on my nails LOL You're like so pro and creative that I wish you were in my city so I could get my nails done with you. Beautiful look! I have several different chrome pigments and yours is by far more of a mirror look than mine! Thanks for adding the link. I will purchase yet another chrome pigment. LOL!
I keep my nail pointing downwards to aid gravity to keep the smile line clean by stopping the clear gel from running while perfecting it and a great lamp so the light helps with it, too.:)
Absolutely LUV them ! :D What kind of "no wipe top coat" did you use ? One that needs to be cured or no UV needed ?

use the french brush make the smile line using alcohol , same way you do the french tip
those came out pretty can't wait to try these I have some mermaid and chrome powder.

It would look better if the black was matte and of course to use a nail vinyl so the line is cleaner and clean up is easier

LuxaPolish I havent tried either actually but Im sure there's a way to go about it, such as applying a top coat over the whole nail and using a nail vinyl to cover the chrome section so you can apply matte top coat over the black section. :)
+SilentSecret with gel polish achieving certain looks can be tricky. You cant cure the gel polish with a nail vinyl on as the vinyl will then be stuck. So that leaves removing nail vinyl while the gel polish is still wet...since gel polish doesn't dry until its in the light....when removing vinyl the gel polish can then start to self level....which then wont give you a crisp line. But if you figure out a way and are succesful let me know! ;)
LuxaPolish It may self level but im sure if youre quick when curing it and do 1 minute under an LED lamp it will be fine. not everything has to be so difficult :)

Friend when you start to put it Chrome the nail has Crome base cured? And how sticky does he apply? Because I got it Crome but I did not ask for anything else.

And order the dust, now which top should I use please? I have many finishing gels uv these will work, I have gel finish universal will this serve me? Or do I have to buy it that goes with it dust? Would it have worked to tape the smile line instead of painting the top coat and removing the leftover chrome?

can you use no light gel polish
I think it'll be much easier if you use a masking tape next time, so you get a really clean line.

No. The polish is just the back drop. It sometimes will give you a different color chrome depending on light or dark polish. If you put it in the polish it'll get chunky & nasty

how do you clean up the chrome? I have a hard time getting it off the skin and sidewalls of the nail.
+Julia Pinciotti after I apply any pigment I dust off excess...then take my time top coating. Then cure. Then I'll have my clients wash....always have your clients wash off their hands after pigment application. You would want them walking around with that all over them. Just my option and what I do for my services.

Yes that's what I thought lol. It would also cut down some time with sharper lines. SOOO excited to work with the chrome. Still waiting on my best friend the mailman lol TICK TOCK. I've only watched 2 vids! LUV THEM!!!

My no wipe top coat changes the texture of the chrome. Why?
+Martha Newsome hmmm....are you dusting ALL of the excess chrome off before you top coat? Also what layer is under the chrome?
Yes, completely and it still messes it up. I've tried 3 different chromes too and 3 different no wipe top coats. I saw on another video where they used a thin layer of builder gel to top coat the chrome and that will be my next step. I always used black gel and then one coat of the no wipe top coat over it before putting on the chrome and it looks perfect and clear until the last step.
+Martha Newsome that's odd. Here is what I do with my gel polish chrome application:
*Base. Cure
*Black. Cure
*No wipe top coat. Cure.
*Wipe each nail with alcohol before applying chrome (I have another video about this)
*Really press the chrome in well and make sure to use enough chrome so it covers well. I use a eye shadow applicator ...it works best for me.
* dust off all excess chrome
* float your no wipe top coat. Cure.

this was also confusing to me. it seemed like it was a few too many steps. so put on your 2 coats of gel. cure. then ad no wipe top coat. cure. now add your french nail guard. add chrome. remove guard, top coat. cure. yours are very pretty though.
+lori wargo yeah there are a lot of steps and I am sure there are other (maybe simpler) ways. This worked for me and didnt take me long but find what works for you :)
