- FROM, is a new series on MGM+ that brings back all the feels of watching LOST for the first time, and for good reason! It is a horror mystery that builds a great suspense about the creepy things happening in this town. While the rest of the world seemingly has no idea, the unlucky souls featured in the show are trapped, haunted by nightmares made real.

100% agree, i've always believed TV is a character medium specifically because it gives people a form of "moral gossip." As in it allows people to talk about other "people" guilt free while getting the same social benefits as gossip.

All these years later, with tons of series come and gone, the LOST experience still sits on the top of the pile for me. Been wanting to give this show a shot and just haven't gotten around to it yet. It's time.
Even with all its flaws, Lost is still my Fav TV show of all time. Every time I rewatch it I feel like I am reuniting with old friends I haven’t seen for a long time.
One thing about Lost is that it was one of the first shows to have a well known internet forum, so even if you didn't have real life friends to discuss the latest mysteries with, there were thousands of people across the world that would be on the site the second and episode ended writing out their theories. It was a magical time... up until the final season.
When I saw the title of this video, my first thought was that I'm still too pissed at the last LOST to watch the next LOST, but I'll hear you out at least.
Ahh! We started watching Season one right after this video and are on episode 7... I'll say this much, it's not the same watching this type of show without the weekly breakdown and theory commentary by Hax!
FROM season 1 is great, interesting, intriguing, etc. However, season 2 becomes everything everyone hated about LOST. Characters making out of character choices, plot twists just for the sake of confusing the audience, appearing as if the writers have no idea where they’re going, etc.
I think this is fair too! Sometimes it feels like they are trying to rodeo a bunch of volatile things, but I really think they got it! Seems like a good team behind it
As a Lost nut, I may be a bit hurt here. I very much dont like when viewers say the "appearing as if the writers have no idea where they're going."
Because we don't understand, they clearly don't know where they're going?
The mystery is a big part of why I believe we watch. If it was clear cut, would it be a mystery? If all the answers were easy to figure out, would we be intrigued?
"Everything everyone hated about LOST." Another broad assumption. I've heard it all with LOST. I've defended it for years. As well as my obsession with it. I fear I'm falling down the rabbit hole of babbling so let me cut this short. The "not knowing" thing just stung me.

@@marcuspearson2587 if the Lost writers knew where they were going with the plot, then why did they leave so much unresolved? As a viewer, the entire series felt pointless, except for when the audience was initially intrigued.

As a huge fan of LOST, I remember waking up that extra hour to catch the previous night episode before heading into work.
I could forget about doing ANY work that the following morning. I was too busy searching the net. Reading different reviews, i practically lived on fusage (??) site. I made connections with folks that, as of today, we still remain in contact, and they too are enjoying FROM.

I keep hearing folks talk about this show as a successor to Lost. In short, it's on my list.
For how great Lost started, it also lost itself in adding more and more bizarre mystery jst for the sake of it, without any resolution planned. so ever since if i see a really good mystery, i hoooope so much they dont lose that red string and overindulge themselves and add thngs "because they can". its like the mystery curse.
a show that gave me that same "unraveling this layer by layer" feeling was Severance (except for that goat scene. taht really wasnt necessary and is the same mystery trap i just spoke of)
LOST has no re-watch-ability to me.
I don't know if the general public mostly watches media to talk about it. I really can't say one way or the other. I imagine plenty of people do it for its own enjoyment. But, of course, you've certainly cultivated an audience that specifically enjoys media in that way. I personally love when I get to share these experiences. I so often can't with people IRL, because my friends/family just don't care about the things that I like. So I'm grateful to communities like yours and others I've found. For instance, the UA-cam One Piece community has MASSIVELY increased my enjoyment of the franchise. It really does feel great to feel like your part of a group experience.

I watched 3 episodes into season 1, and although I was enjoying the show, I stopped intending to return to the show. This video has convinced me to get back into it.
Never watched it, heard about it a bunch, still never watched it, but I'm gonna let this video run for the plays, like, comment, and ad runs.

Oh those were the days!
I was all in to their big forum and all the side stories and dead-end "clues" they'd come up with to throw us off. And that's actually what ruined it, because when people guessed what was going on they were told it wasn't true, and then after the ending they said "but it's not REALLY what you thought it was, it was something else that was exactly like what you thought it was".
I honestly don't think though, that I'd enjoy it nearly so much having it all in a big package you can binge on. Part of the excitement was the wait. So many twists and turns and after all those years the characters became part of your family, especially with The Lost Experience feeding in to the frenzy.
And I do love From. I can certainly see some similarities but I feel like LOST was epic whereas From is intriguing.
I have been wanting to start this series. I love Lost!

From how you described it, it sounds like an odd version of The Leftovers, which is one of the best shows ever made.
Also, does that town surrounded by woods not have a chainsaw? Any chokers or chains?

I've been enjoying From. Is it the next LOST? Nah. Is it like LOST? It shares some elements and kind of feels like it at times. Also because Harold Perrineau is one of the leads.
But it's a lot different on so many levels.
LOST changed TV. That show brought a lot that none had before it. Bringing high concept serialized drama and intrigue to the small screen. It was a phenomenon that sparked a new generation for TV.
From feels more like a Stephan King adaptation than anything else. But sprinkled with a little bit of LOST's DNA.
Looking forward to season 3.
Speaking of LOST. They were not dead or in purgatory (except the "flash" sideways). Everything before that happened, the island and all the wacky shit & events, happened. The flash sideways was a purgatory for all the characters who died on and off the island to meet up after atoning for their issues. Serving as a Ferrymans Passage essentially. I originally hated the ending, but after I realized what it actually was. Have loved it ever since.
Yes, do a 5h video on the next Lost.

The show sounds like a Stephen King short story I once read. Can't remember the name of it.
This video made me decide to watch the show, which my girlfriend and I have enjoyed, so thanks for that. I have to say, Season 2 was a big drop off from Season 1. I'm willing to chalk it up to ripple effects of the writer's strike, but I'm definitely wary heading into Season 3. I'm hoping there is some kind of overarching end game in mind here, and the show will run no more than 5, ideally just 4 seasons. If they start spinning their wheels like Lost did, I'm bailing.

what do they do about the food? does it respawn?
The food is somewhat part of the mystery, and it’s on my mind every time they are feeding people… then they start running out 👀

You are a little late to the game but it's okay. Welcome to Lost meets Wayward Pines.
Mystery box story telling. Engaging but no actual plot. Character driven.
The amount of dumb characters decisions in this show is incredible
Been watching it and it has some of the same problems of Lost as well. But I think it's coming off worse, some of these actors are quite bad/mediocre. I kinda wish the main family get axed, it's just mediocre acting across the board from them. The wife and daughter are kinda okay, but the wife's accent keeps going in and out. MGM+ also isn't available in all regions(worldwide) and when it seems to have wonky availability on Prime. I wouldn't advise anyone to cancel their Netflix subscription to watch it.
It's kinda running around in circles right now, dropping a bunch of mysteries and ignoring answering most of them and we all know how that ended up in Lost. I'm also not sure how long it'll be around, it took awhile for the 3rd season to get greenlit(it wasn't greenlit right away or before the season ended). SO you might end up blueballed with it spewing out a bunch of mysteries and never reach any proper conclusion. Even if it gets it's full allowance of seasons, I'm not even sure it'll get there.

FROM has some LOST vibes, but they're only vibes.
The quality of the writing and acting and direction simply isn't there.
This is a very B-grade show, IMO. Even the final season of LOST is better.
I think they are still just hitting their stride, and it will only go up from here! I think we can agree it's not perfect, but what is right? :D
