- In this video recorded by Ross IELTS Academy, we share an IELTS Speaking Mock Test of a candidate with a band score of 6.5. We have inserted the examiner's feedback and the reason why he got that band score at the end of the video.
This mock test was held in Istanbul, Turkey, as a part of our international tour.

I think he deserves 7. The reason why he didn't, I believe, is because of his accent.
Accent doesn't matter, what matters is pronunciation. However, he had problems in other criteria, as well

I was also there, at the show. 13.06.1999. I was 19 years old.One of the best shows of Metallica. Their first show in Turkey, in 1993, at Inonu Stadium was also great.

He had some issues which are explained in the feedback part. He is able to get 7 and higher if he fixes his problems
the difference between 6.4 and 8.5 is really small.
his english isn't perfect, he makes a few mistakes.
he does have some good vocab but his grammar has some flaws
also in part two, he didn't finish the 2 minutes so I think that dropped the score a bit

I think I made the same mistakes in my real exam which were trying to answer question quickly and without thinking well :) and I got 6 . I hope I will get a higher band score in my next attempt . His English is pretty good actually and I am sure he would get higher band scores in case of avoiding some mistakes that you have already mentioned at the end of the video.I am also from Turkey and greetings to all candidates who will take the exam :))

the examiner was so patient but i think in 12:40 examiner said "you should performance" i think its wrong and the correction is : "you should perform" totally he added grerat points and it was impressive.

Dont make a big deal about it. Its nothing serious
So many times you face things that you don't have idea about it in your real life, you can just come up with an idea or say that you didn't have a happy childhood and explain about it for 2 minutes

You should avoid memorized language or you will lose mark.

Just after he finished his pharse at 6:28, Examiner said "Ok, right" and he stop talking. And then examiner crictisize him because he didnt continue for 22 seconds. Comon :)

Hi dear ross Ielts academy, I took an Ielts exam 6 months ago and to be honest you have been showing the most realistic Ielts exam on your channel for candidates and my first exam's result was 4.5 So I'm planning to take a new exam in a month and When I was taken my first exam i was full of naked for the Ielts exam because I thought That was should have been a normal English exam then I got that 4.5 point without any preperation and now I have been preparing myself by my first experiment Ielts exam especially the result. I am going to thank everybody in the academy. I have got a question according to band scores. I saw a girl who got a 6.5 score for her speaking performance, however,she had lots of repetitions such as uhm, umm. But I noticed that that candidate had a good lexicon and mine is a bit less than hers and also I don't have any repetitions. Which score can I get for my this performance. Thank your dear Ilhomjon, please remember that you'll be evaluated based on 4 criteria and not only fluency and coherence. Each criteria has the same score of 0 to 9. At the end, the examiner will sum up the scores and divide in 4, which will be your overall band score. Thus, you can't say what band score you'll get this way. What we do recommend our students is taking a mock test to know their band score and tips to improve
