I went and test rode a z1000 earlier this week, UNFREAKEN BELIEVEABLE!!!! I had a big grin on my face the whole time, it's a big step up from my Bandit 1200 in every way, well except fuel range, but holy crap it is awesome. So I decided to buy it, picking it up from Wellington (NZ) this Saturday - sweet. Thanks again for your review Kev it helped in making my final decision between z1000 and GSR750, I did ride both, the z is superior for sure in many ways.
This is a fantastic bike, I test rode one today and it was mind blowing. I've never ridden a litre bike that felt so light to throw about, it tracks so well through conrners, mid corner bumps did not change my line. Phenominal torque, it just pull hard in any gear at any revs. Might be a bit too short geared for freeway work. When I get mine, it might try running some difffernt gearing to go a bit taller.
Very nice review. Very nice bike too. Not a pure sport, but that's okay. Its a comfortable street-fighter, and a wheelie bike! It needs a fender eliminator kit and a good exhaust system. Loads of potential!
Did you already decide on one or the other bike? Concerning the Z750 vs. the Z1000, my experience is that the Z750 is more than enough for the twisties. If you want to do more than 40% touring, especially in questionable weather conditions, I recommend the Z1000SX, if it has to be a Kawa and you know how to handle the high torque. If the make is debatable, I´d personally go for a Street Triple R with ABS now. The SX might still be the powerhouse to go for concerning sporty touring. Hope I helped
This is my future bike...I've set a goal on saving $6k for a down payment.....and hopefully to get the 2012 model ....hopefully Kawak will add a seat cowl, possibly a brembo front brakes, better looking electronic gauge, bigger tank than 4 gal.......single sided swingarm.......I ask too much LOL.
This bike have only two bad thing, the first one is that orrible plate holder, it would be the first thing to replace. The second one is that you cannot replace the exaust, no one will look best
big fan of this bike...but the price in my country is goddamn expensive because of the stupid government taxe and bla bla bla bullshit......wish can own it by next year....

Strange how videos filmed in 2010 look like they were filmed in the 90s. HD has spoiled us
I've ridden a few Kawi bikes, and have even owned one, and they all had great-shifting transmissions

This was a very comprehensive review, I've been looking for weeks and this is the best one I've seen yet. Good work guys!

awesome bike and very detailed and comprehensive review
I can't decide between this or the Ninja 1000! I prefer the styling on the Z1000, but I like the larger fuel tank and wind screen on the Ninja.

Quite good, except for the tasteless electric guitar rubbish which spoils the whole thing for me.
