Gosh, what I noticed most in this video is what a difference skin color makes. Two young black students living in a vehicle going to school to make a better life for themselves and making their way through parking in a city near campus. Good job 👍🏻 kids! I thought it was hard going to college and working my butt off in Alaska during my college summers as a driver guide and again part time during the school year, but still I had my parents financial support. Amazing. They were wonderful Bob. Please show more of this. 👍🏻♥️
I stealth parked in San Francisco and the parking signs are confusing , so I called parking enforcement to ask them about signs I came across. They explained them and where helpful.
Yes, It does say Pre-Recorded and I also have watched this one before, but I do think it is a message worth repeating… Lovell and Paris are smart! I trust Bob’s choice to repeat messages we either need a reminder or haven’t watched😉
cheap rv living isn't only a great thing for nomads, but also a great thing for folks trying to live an affordable life anywhere, in this time of sky high rent
That is evil that someone slashed their tires. If i lived in SF i would offer them a parking spot at my house either driveway, back yard or infront of my house.
I think there is an app called Driveway surfing where someone might let you park in driveway for a bit, maybe you pay their electric bill or something.
Maybe we need a page where good hearted people can offer safe free temporary parking even if only for one night/day ..what a wonderful world that would be..
My heart goes out to this young couple I grew up in San Francisco I escaped I live in Oregon now .South of market down marin street near the Bay used to be a place where you didn't get bothered but that probably has changed by now.
What a great interview! We are RV park campers, but have recently dove into boondocking for privacy & to save some money. Man, street parking sounds tricky & a bit stressful. It’s too bad folks aren’t more accommodating. If someone is quiet & minding their own business, who cares where they park? Safe travels.
Yeah you always got to be alerts around your your surroundings because you never know what's going to happen it doesn't matter where you're at a nice neighborhood a bad neighborhood or whatever you never know that's why a lot of people like living on the outskirts of town since they don't say much just what I do I really be up there and then in the city
Good timing, so many are facing eviction, so I've read. I'll stick to backcountry boonedocking...just listening to these Folks got me paranoid. Closest I came to that is a Advance Auto parts parking lot in Flagstaff, had to replace radiator...
I’m wondering if there is somewhere on campus they could park. Even if they had to pay a yearly fee it would be worth it. They could just move around in a parking lot. The college I attended had a large parking lot that was open to all students at no cost. It was a bit of a hike to get to classes but they already have scooters.
There will be people around who will intentionally make noise and annoy stealth campers themselves to get you to not park in an area. I've tried doing what this couple did, and let's just say it didn't go as planned. World can be so cruel.
Parked in a 24 hour park in Vancouver once. Park security and maintenance showed up at midnight in a car with flashing lights and they were honking their horn constantly. I wasn't even bothering anyone, it was like I wasn't even there, but I guess they didn't want nomads there
SF really should step up and help van lifers, it's a progressive city. It's become so expensive to live there these days and feels so money grubbing. It would be nice for the city to give people a safe place to park. When I was there some yrs ago, I got towed. I was hanging out with family and didn't pay attention to the time. It cost me 500.00 bucks! And I was 5 min late getting back and my beauty was gone. When I did stay there in my van I parked by the Dutch Windmill in front of Ocean Beach almost in front of the Safeway. There were a few other vans there with nice ppl, so I felt safe. There were zero parking signs and I stayed there for 4 nights listening to the waves crash all night. It was great and I would walk to Safeway and get delicious food. Plus, Golden Gate park is right down the street to walk the hound or let him run on the beach.
We have a white Ford Transit T350 mid roof passenger van. We were stralth camping near Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In middle of the night a tow truck pulled up beside us. A man got out and urinated in the parking lot. He had no idea that we were inside the van . Commercial vehicles blend in very well and most people have no idea that someone could be sleeping inside them. Every time I see a white van at a Walmart parking lot I smile and wonder if someone is sleeping well inside it.
The comparison to learning to drive made me think of how driver's ed in high school was my only opportunity to learn the life skill of driving a car. In Summer driver's ed, the football coach teaching teaching driver's ed asked me to wave at the superintendant of schools in the middle of a turn. Later on that day we stopped at a convenience story where he bought candy for everyone in that driving group and thanked me for helping him get a raise. Currently building an old beater van.
Yup, be truthful, Be respectful, and move if authority says to. 🤷♀️ I would even go so far as to ask, where can I go to get rest close by? I truly believe it's all in our attitude. 😊✌
VERY important to know your rights (esp ppl of color) when dealing with cops. You can be a sheeple & let them walk all over your rights, but trust me that can end badly. ALWAYS record every encounter with cops!
these cops are not acting as cops, they are acting as bullies. Treat them as you are treated...the big diff is YOU have the power over bullies when you know your rights! They may escalate things if you dont know your rights bc thats what bullies do!
If someone has a UA-cam Channel with their channel name clearly displayed on the vehicle, this provides some protection for people who are living in a Mobile situation. It helps both people, businesses, and law enforcement to clearly identify whose vehicle it is and why it may be parked in a particular area. Those questioning why these people are in their area can easily send them a message here on their channel.
Lovely to see these two again, and to hear that they are going up in the world (new van). Horrified to hear about the parking tickets, $1000 is a huge sum to find! I don't believe in karma, but wish it was true so that it could bite the tire slasher in the ass! Has this couple tried stealth parking in the campus carpark?
Vancamping in L.A. County is legal. It's where the A.C.L.U. won that case against the County to get rid of ordinances that pull innocent, educated people into the Criminal Justice system. So they got rid of the 'No sleeping overnight in a vehicle ordinance' in 2015/16 ish as a part of the lawsuit. The City of San Diego recently got rid of the Knocking Ordinance as well. They (Cops, Sheriff, State Police) don't knock in L.A. County. At all. The mall Security Guards will. But are often more professional than cops in L.A. I tend to stay out of the sketchy areas of L.A. county. I stay out of residential areas ( I parked on Mason st just inside The Presidio in SF in 2013). (When you still could because no city parking rules) The wealthier the neighborhood, the more likely Karens and Kens in the HOA, or Crimewatch Group will call the cops because of all the house theft. Vandwellers will get suspected. They will call for anything that threatens their property values. And the police say to their Watch Groups "If you see anything, call us". I don't park in Venice Beach, or SM anymore. In CA, all the residential RV/van traffic after 100 years in coastal towns can cause them to call constantly. All the greywater and urine gets to them over the decades. You've heard of it. The old Tourist/Locals Battle. I'm in South Bay. Where traffic is relatively reasonable. The lockdown was lovely. Homeless street and vehicle population is small. I park in strip mall lots that have no signs saying 'No overnight parking' some nights. Rat Beach city roadside parking other nights. Or roadside shaded parking 2miles inland. Away from wealthy neighborhoods. But near commercial areas that allow overnight RV parking and have a lot of lots. Covid Lockdown, Ghosttown South Bay was heaven. I miss it.
Rarely do I comment here on UA-cam. I'm going to outright say this. I FEAR FOR THESE TWO! I can see some crazy Karen/Kyle going bonkers because two people of color are in a van in their white bread neighborhood and hurting these two young people either directly or indirectly via cops or another third party. For that matter I would love to know how many times these two have been harassed in their van versus say a white vanlifer. I've seen videos of an experiment where a black man goes to a white suburb and eats his lunch in his own car...that whole neighborhood went ballistic over it!

They converse as if they are truly best friends, and are very generous with their advice and impressions. Best of all experiences, true loves.
I have watch a video of theirs in the past. I just subbed to their channel. Thank you for interviewing them.

Yeah, that was really childish of the tire slasher. Karma will bite them in the butt one day, if it hasn't already.

I like Novell Kulture's channel. Thanks for interviewing them, Bob.
I enjoy listening to this couple. Thank you all for the great advice. 💕

Awwwww my 3 favorite people. I really want to meet Mr. Bob someday 🙏🏾
Such smart, nice kids. I wish they could be in a dormitory on campus, though. I would be so worried if I was their mama!
They want to be free people, and experience real life, they don’t want to be in that useless dormitory campus.
@@lulolee5325 I know. I get that. But the mom in me...I can't help it.
Really nice couple with some sound common sense advice.

That's great advice from expert van people! Thanks very much folks!!!!
What a knowledgeable, nice and cool couple! Great ideas! Thanks 😀. I subscribed to their channel.
Do they have a UA-cam channel? I'd like to see their build.
He said the Novel Kulture. They showed it as well.

I wonder if it's possible to make school friends who'd allow parking where they live -- several friends for numerous options.

Can't you park at the school you attend?
It is good to look like a commercial vehicle ..attracts less attention..
Thanks for wonderful advice

Walking .driving..or parking one must always be vigilant..
Your wording said it's not that easy to live as you have decided to do. Stay safe and careful God Bless
wheres a good spot to camp in flagstaff. do you really have to move every 2 weeks?
In most places how long you can stay will be posted inmost BLM land it's 14 days

I wonder if they talked to administration if they could park on campus.

SF has a liberal DA who says he will not prosecute petty crimes like car break in, shoplifting, burglaries...so petty crimes there are rampant.
