How is this a debate? If you're at a gig... you shut up and listen. Should be the same for movies, theatres etc.

He called his parents at his age that say's it all, Ray was probably thinking about the other fans having to hear them being to loud and spoiling the experience for everyone else, respect to him he's a true artist he's not doing music to try and be popular and please everyone he does music because he probably just loves music

I'm with Ray, it is rude for people to talk during a gig. And I say to the guy responsible 'Man up you big wuss'.

Appalling behaviour from audience members. Utterly disrespectful.People don't realise just how distracting this can be for the person on stage. Ray Lamontagne, who, arguably, has the most mild-mannered stage presence of any performer, had every right to tell them how he felt - they'd been warned repeatedly. How hard is it to shut up and listen!?

Music, when sung with your heart, is very emotional. Don't cross those emotions. That is the core of someone's being.

Totally agree with LaMontagne. We went to Stevie Nicks and Vanessa Carlton in Youngstown in November of 2017, we were almost in the front row to the right side of the stage, you could barely hear either of the artists telling their stories over the people talking in the crowd! It's RUDE! Go home or stay outside if you want to talk! 20-30,000 people talking over one single artist speaking or singing is ridiculous. You all paid very good money to see these artists sing, play and TALK about why they wrote the pieces you all love so much..so as a performer, I say shut up and listen! There is nothing more frustrating than trying to perform intimate songs ( like Landslide) over people screaming into someones ear next to them. If you need to speak to your friend that bad..LEAVE. Period. You go to concerts to LISTEN! NOT TALK!

If you want to talk at a Metallica concert or something like that, go for it. The rest of the crowd can't hear you. But at a show like Ray's, shut your pie hole and listen to the music. Same thing happened to me at a Trampled By Turtles show. Some guy next to us was trying to impress his girl the whole time and when he started in on his chocolate fondue or some such nonsense I finally leaned over and told him if he wants to talk then either go to the bar or go outside. It's not only rude to the artist but also to the people around who go to shows to listen to the music, not some hipster doofus talk all night. Good for Ray for calling these two turds out and I'm sure he's happy they won't be dancing to his song at their wedding. I'm sure the guys mommy will choose a good song for him.

We had a girl try to stage dive off our row at a Stevie Nicks concert in Youngstown! She was 20--maybe! she face planted into a garbage can behind a security guard who turned around and laughed at her! Stevie was singing Landslide of all songs! Give me a break! Then she gave US the finger! OK?? Grow up! Don't go to shows like this when you have no understanding of who the artist is! WOW!

The man is an ARTist. This rude, yapping couple is akin to sitting behind Monet's or Van Gogh's easel and sticking your hands right in their canvas. Although, you could gab and yap all you want behind Van Gogh..wouldn't matter as he lopped off his own ear. Ray works hard at his craft, and takes pride in his work. If the snowflake couple had just sat in the back row, this wouldn't have been an issue.

You go and and enjoy music at a concert. You don't go there to blab. Especially a Ray LaMontagne concert, his voice is stunning. You fucking listen lol I understand his frustrations. He shouldn't have to apologize.

If someone is willing to get up on a stage and reveal part of his/her soul, you as a listener should have enough respect to not make it about you. If the performer doesn't resonate with you, then leave. I applaud Ray for his actions...

If your there to see the artist SING; then that's exactly what adults do. They are there to hear this incredible man. Band mates must listen; be in sync; know what their hearing so that they can give and be their best musically. If your talking and someone is constantly interrupting you; that's f rude. Go ahead and call your parent's. It sounds like you needed Adult supervision anyway. Your obviously too immature to understand and respect the Artist and the band anyway. Ray and bandmates had asked them to be quiet. When that fails; your disturbing everyone who came there to hear this incredible man and this band.

If you go to a Ray lamontagne gig to have a conversation you need a serious chat with yourself , at home , not at a Ray Lamontagne gig

What I don't get is why you would go to a concert, especially for an artist like Ray, and talk. I can only speak for myself, but when I listen to music I do so to be completely immersed in t. If I want background noise while scrambling eggs I'll stay my ass home and play my iHome.

You're singing not for yourself, but for the public. So if the public is speaking during your concert, throw them the fuck out because they obvously don't appreciate him enough that he's doing all this for them. Yeah, he's getting paid. I get that. But holy fuck have some respect.

Ignorance and lack of manners say a lot about a person. To me these people need to learn to appreciate others and stop being so selfish. It is really irritating and very distracting when performing to have ignorant audience members chatting. If they want to chat then outside is the place to be. The guy and his fiance deserve to be humiliated. All the other audience members didn't pay to listen to their chat!

Always respect the artist/band when YOU'RE in THEIR domain. That's THEIR space to display THEIR art to YOU, not for you to talk up a storm while they're trying to entertain you with their art. Such disrespect.

Wah wah wah... You shoulda kept your mouths shut and been there to see and listen to the band, not to mention being loud enough to disturb others around you. AND that the band can hear you over their instruments and speakers.
Insane that he tries to cry "we called our parents" good! Did you tell them how rude you were during the show too?? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love ray, just saw him in Toronto last month and best show hands down best live and he played the best songs.
AND.. get this... No one around us was talking so loudly that it disrupted us or the artist. GO FIGURE! 😂😂

They got free tickets and went on a lark, not knowing the artist? I've been to boring hockey games in a private suite and I ended up socializing, drinking and eating for most of the game without watching it. That's not disrespectful to the players or other fans, but what these asses did was. You should keep your trap shut at concerts and movies, etc.

More artists should do this to prevent deaths in concerts too like that rapper guy who never said a word
Remaining silent is complicit in potential accidents occurring
    Love Ray 🤍
