We always get the poor peoples version of the apocalypse and this isn’t an apocalypse movie it’s not world ending it’s more about the US and how divided it is and how quickly we’d descend into chaos if attacked. And it perfectly shows the levels there is to wealth although they had money there were still people with more who were better prepared.

You could see how much Rose was struggling with her loneliness when she kept reaching out to her brother only for her feelings to be brushed aside. I think her telling her mom the story about the flood and her saying she wasn’t going to wait anymore was her refusing to give into all the outside forces that were taking everything away from her. She was going to go out and “ do something” for herself, by herself. Although she could not have known she would find her “friends” again, the fact that her self powered journey took her right back to them gives us hope! Would have been a relief to see the family reunions, but this might have interrupted Rose’s own brief reunion with her comfortable, young life. We pretty much know everyone else would be at the bunker soon. Let her have her moment!

I knew a lady that tried to get a young Doe untangled from her fence and it kicked her SO hard it partially collapsed her lungs and cracked multiple ribs! Also when I was middle school age, I remember riding in car with my mom and a deer ran out on front of us. She stopped easily in time. But then about 6 more deer followed behind and one ran full force into the driver side rear door so hard that it cracked the window and warped the door so badly that it was jammed closed. And then the flyers... the only part of it I hated was that they littered in the middle of nowhere lmao. At least do it over the set house, that's way more dynamic and interesting since it would imply being watched, paranoia.

What i took from it is that even though these people just went through something so unusual and terrifying, a familiar yet essentially useless logo like Starbucks is all that it takes to make them momentarily forget. They don't want to learn anything, talk to parents, doing anything fun apart talking to their friends on-line even though they are two mins away. It's not the parents wanting screen time, its the parents worried about this generation! @@lynnette9046its a great book. Its way more subtle, nuanced, and thematically complex then the movie. There was just so many scenes that were beautifully written and executed in the book that just came across as goofy in the movie. And then theres a bunch of scenes written just for the movie that were just weird and cringey and ugh… yeah i dont like this movie lol

The use of the color blue was to symbolize the coldness in people and how we treat each other. You will notice that there isn't a lot of love and warmth between Julia, Ethan and their kids. The dance scene was the "warmest" scene.

To me Rosie finding the buker and truly "leaving the world behind" when watching the show, represented the feeling some people get (me included) when we watch Friends and truly feel everything will be ok, regardless of what we're going through. Like, I have Friends, the world could end out there, and I wouldn't care.
