Wow, at 12:57 (and @ 14:39) somebody has some scratch. The lead boat on the dock at Coinjock, white over champagne/grey downeast style yacht, that's a Zeelander Z55. They're a dutch built luxury yacht that are some of the absolute best (the Rolls-Royce of 50'-70' motor yachts).
We live in Goldsboro, NC (just moved here from Indiana 18 months ago), thank you so much for your utubes! It provides me with knowledge of exciting places to go just 2-3 hours from home 😍🌞💐
Hello, my name is Bjorn Herman and I’m commenting from beautiful Seattle Washington. I have a 1979 35’ CHB NorthSea Trawler. You guys are awesome. I’ve watched all your videos and I love them. Safe travels and thanks for keeping me entertained while I’m sitting at my desk at work. Safe travels, BJ
You took a little bit longer to pull up the thumbs up and here I was saying out loud; "where is the thumps up!?? And then a couple of seconds later there it was!!!! I can start my day now!!! Phew!!!!! Love you guys!!!
I absolutely love following this adventure. Really like the brewery stops and cool places you find food I’d love the cruising piece. We have 41’ houseboat on the upper Mississippi
Glad to see that you didn't have a repeat of the day before. That would make a sailor cuss. Good decisions were made today and now you can enjoy the rewards. Peace
I Cant believe I came up w Agnes a few days ago and hadn’t yet seen this video. Just proves great minds think alike. Question. Once Ollie potties on green outdoor grass how do you store the doo for non stinky keeping?
Kona was excited to see herself in your video!!! 🐶🙌 Those tacos looked sooo good (y’all were also eating Adam’s FAV chips!) and we love the shortened name for the anchor. Shoutout to AGNES!!! ⚓️⚓️⚓️
Towards the end of your vlog you mentioned another set of loopers you enjoy watching. I believe it was Adam and Katherine. Could you please give their link? I enjoy following anyone doing the loop. Thanks for another amazing episode!
Thanks Dennis! We were watching some friends that are doing all the national parks in a van ua-cam.com/users/adventuresofaplusk - they make fantastic videos and are nice people 😁
I am working my way backwards through your Loop videos - doing a section at a time. Boy you guys have grown as the trip went on. You said you were watching Katherine (sp) and Adam who I also follow. Do you also watch Kara and Nate? My favorite.
I’m so happy your cruise was smoother and that Elliott and Ollie made it back to you before the storm hit. Those tacos looked amazing…right up my alley of what I like to eat! Ollie stealing your chair was cute and funny. Keep traveling safe!
Hello from Whidbey Island, Washington. Michael and I have been watching your journey now for many months, always looking forward to each episode. We cruise Puget Sound and the San Juan islands on our 31’ Camano. We’re looking forward to cruising to Desolation Sound in Canada for three weeks in September. Watching your channel is helpful to us to anticipate different situations and how to handle them with grace.
Thanks Debra! The PNW seems like an amazing place to cruise, we would love to check out those areas in the future... Desolation sound looks magical, not desolate at all 😁 Good luck!
Been following you for quite a while and never commented, but since you want folks to drop in and just say ‘hi,’ then …HI! And many thanks to you for taking us along on your journey. We’re ‘old fart’ senior boaters, but there’s always new stuff to learn, and we’re enjoying learning as YOU learn. Your zest for life and adventure is enjoyable to watch. Cheers from Grand Traverse Bay in Michigan!
Jen and Elliot, You may want to get a marine clam shell covering for you your anchor locker drain holes if you don't have them. They will decrease the water that is pushed in by waves in bigger seas. Quick, easy install for about 10 dollars! Less worries about bilge getting water. Love your vlog! Bob and Linda on Breeze. (97 MT34DC} We'll be leaving Sturgeon Bay to go to Toledo in 3 weeks. Then going to leave to go Mobile and St Augustine the end of August. Enjoy!
Just curious….what are your general plans re the Erie Canal…..entire canal and the U.S. Great Lakes or Oswego Canal then into Ontario Canada? We are currently in Brewerton, NY preparing for the Oswego and the Trent Severn Waterway. Dennis Clinton, MV Saltie.
Hey William! We are not too far from you in current times 😁 We are actually docked over in Rome, NY heading to Brewerton soon-ish (getting over a cold). We will be taking the same route so our paths may cross. Check out our Sunday-Summary to stay up to date on where we are IRL!
I can't imagine anyone leaving a negative comment..... you three are awesome and I reeeeeeealy appreciate you sharing your experience! Wishing you fair winds and following seas 😁
That idle does sound a bit high. The old man used to have a lobster boat with a Lehman 120 diesel. I recall the idle was around 750… be sure you verify with an independent tachometer, not your 40+ year old one….😊
My family never took the Virginia Cut route from Hampton, VA to Elizabeth City, NC - always the Dismal Swamp Canal. One time, on our annual trip to Elizabeth City, several of the larger yachts had to take the Virginia Cut; while the smaller boats could take the DSC. The water in the DSC had become so swallow, that they (Corp of Engineers) almost shut the canal down. I think we scraped the bottom 2 -3 times (2"10" draft on our boat). So it was really nice to see what we missed by not taking that route. Have fun in Norfolk!
Well that was a bit better of a day. Have a wonderful restful night and get back out there and do it again. Never give up. Do you plan on any longer stopovers or are you going to keep up with the pace you seem to be on.
Definitely more long stopovers coming soon - at this point in our Loop we were just "getting to the looper rendezvous", unfortunately we had a schedule. There is always a pace to keep but we have really enjoyed and visited some neat spots further on the Loop 😁 Thanks for watching Kevin!
This is such familiar territory for me and I'm loving seeing y'alls take on it. For 4 years I worked for the state of NC as a biologist technician based in Elizabeth City. We worked all over that sound, mainly collecting data from fish species, but the mouth of the Alligator River and the wide expanse of the Albemarle right out from it were prime areas for us to collect, or tag and release striped bass, working out of 20' center consoles with 150hp outboards, most similar to what local crabbers use. Over on the Virginia Cut side, I have boated and worked by the boat ramp on the shore in Coinjock, but to this day my BFF lives in Currituck County and we can walk down to the water down the street from her house and see the wide North River from their neighborhood beach on the river right down the street from her house.
Oh that’s super neat! I bet that was a really interesting job, and an awesome city to be based out of. That’s a really cool connection to where we traveled through. Thanks for sharing Tammy!
Two pieces of info for the Engineer: If you find it difficult to finely adjust belt tension on your engine, NAPA sells a ($8 or so) belt tensioner that makes the job ooh-so easy. (They also sell an inexpensive belt tension measurer to help you avoid over-tightening, thereby overworking the bearings in the alternator). And it's probably obvious to say this, but don't replace that bilge pump until after you've confirmed the wiring isn't the problem. If you don't know how to do continuity checks, anyone with a VOM can show you - dead simple.
See I didn't make it up. You're heading to the looper rendezvous. You mentioned you had a place to be time wise, but wouldn't say where. Now you did. Would have liked it better if all the family was coming for the surprise wedding, which I still say should be done on a lock on the Erie Canal. Although, been watching What Yacht to Do and they went through the locks into Lake Superior at Sault Saint Marie. That might be a better place, with a 900 ft freighter hauling iron as the back drop. :o)
@@SchoandJo And the doing your business situation. I have no advice other than I'll trade a dog for Ollie. Got three, but one daughter's that also likes to be covered in her "Monkey Blanket" to sleep. Either of the other two up for trade. Only problem of doing business is where. Don't think either limit themselves to the Astroturf!!! Lol.

hehe some might say we spend too much time together 😂
@@SchoandJo We can relate 😂
Fun watchng your adventure. Safe travels. ❤
You guys are great. I am a non boater and we are thinking of doing the loop. Watching your journey gives me confidence to go for it. Thanks
You definitely can do it if you want to! May be hard at the beginning but the pay off in experiences is unbeatable.

Wife and I are enjoying your videos! Thanks for taking us all along the journey with you!
Thanks to both you and your wife for coming along with us 😁
I have 2 sons who live in the area and every time we visit we eat at the Coinjock Marina. We used to live in Kill Devil Hills. I miss it so much.
Oh nice! Sounds like a great tradition 😁
Ollie might like one of those calming beds, my dog sleeps in it when it's raining and thunderstorms.
I haven't seen those before! What makes them calming? Thanks!
@@SchoandJo some are self warming and have furry material, gives them a sense of security like sleeping next to their mother or litter mates.

hi Folks sailer watching your nice channel and subscribed. wondering what your typical speed and gph is with your diesel. thank you for great videos
Thanks! We go around 6.5 kts and burn about 2 gph. If we go slower we can do 1.5 gph and if we go faster (7-7.5) its about 3 gph.
I am Virginia. Have a good time there.
Aww thanks Virginia for commenting 😁
Do you guys have month by month location plan? Just curious on approximate state-by-state timing? Thanks!
Not so much month by month, but a couple of things: Bay by May (in regards to the Chesapeake) and then Chicago by the end of September!
