I'm very sorry that this song brought back such sad memories for you. If I had known, I wouldn't have asked for this reaction. I also cried several times because of this song, but for different reasons. I was overwhelmed by the emotions that Aurora conveyed to me with her voice and body language. And I noticed that I liked it precisely because it touched me so much. As Aurora says, crying can also have a liberating effect. I hope you're feeling better. My last reaction request is definitely heartwarming and not so sad. 🌞
Please don't feel bad about not knowing that this would bring up some memories. I don't mind those things coming to the surface now and again. It reminds me to stay humble, grounded and grateful for how very effing far I have come in life. Surviving that kind of stuff is one of the best things I've ever done. 💜 The fact it evoked such emotion in me makes me love the song even more. Thank you, Matthias.
The song is sung by the victim all the time. This also means the countdown at the beginning. She counts down herself for her husband. These are all her thoughts, not those of him. He does not justify anything. He's just crying. She sings "I know, he knows, that he's killing me for mercy". Both know. The man does not want to kill her, but does so at her request. And for him to make it, she counts down. He redeems her from her suffering. He becomes a murderer for her. Euthanasie for a terminally ill wife. And if you pay attention to how the duet is sung, you hear Aurora singing "And here I go, oh oh oh", while the man just sings "Go". After the shot her spirit prepared to leave and he gives her his permission that it's okay to go, He will be okay again without her. Then she counts down again, several times because it's hard to leave him and then she disappears forever. Of course, this is an interpretation, but taking into account the things that are actually offered. For me, this is the only comprehensible interpretation. In others, there are too many logic gaps for me.
Yes, this makes the song make perfect sense and brought more tears to my eyes. When I was listening to the song, the part about mercy made me think of people who kill people they love to save them from some of the horrible things in life, in their perspective. Not necessarily factual things, just what they deem to be horrible.
yes, it's intense. it's probably one of her most intense performances. there are some others. but the common say is, that this is a tragic love story with one partner suffers on a terminal disease. thanks for your brave and honest reaction. you know, not all her songs are that sad, but what would the music world be without the sad songs.
You need some happy song suggestions from your patreons. Giving Into the Love, Warrior, Exist for Love, Queendom, or, there is more, but my old brain can't think of anymore at the moment. You are a warrior, sorry you had to experience the extremely dark aspect of human relations, but, raise your fist in victory, you are still here. Thanks for sharing.
I am so impressed with your bravery. She was inspired by a newspaper story of a mercy killing. This was the performance that sent me down the AURORA rabbit hole. It shows such depth of empathy. She was 19. This was pretty early in her career, before she learned to dance while singing, to channel that energy into art.
I’m so sorry to hear what you went through🥺❤️ So I can understand your difficulties watching this performance, it’s intense❤️ In an interview she said: “Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said: 'OK, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." In another interview, she said: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them."
This is always a rough one to get through. I'd suggest the music videos for "Exist for Love", and "Giving in to the Love". Other songs I suggest are "Forgotten Love", "Soft Universe", and "Gentle Earthquake". They are still beautiful and inspiring, but not so heartbreaking. Aurora has the ability to shatter your heart into a million pieces, but she can also fill you with so much hope and love. If you feel like you need a reprieve from the sad stuff, please check out the songs I mentioned. I'd consider myself a recovering misanthrope as well, and Aurora has been the shining light in the darkness of humanity since I discovered her.❤
I admire your bravery and thank you for sharing with us your own story. Stay strong and never apologies for having feelings. Aurora and this song particularly always go straight to my heart and more so now that you have shared your story. Keep up your awesome reactions!!!
You did have a really bad time, one of the worst but you survived. This song is not about an abusive partner, it is about a mercy killing, about love. Aurora was inspired by a news article about a suffering wife and her loving partner. The murder suicide is about punishment, taking her kids away and then killing her is a very different motive. This song is about love.

You are such a good reactor Mom. You react with your whole face and body. Love from Norway Momma. You'r tears in the evening may be hard, but you'r morning smile will be sweet.
When I saw the title on what song you was reacting to, I was thinking Oh dear.. I hope she has kleenex close by. This song always gets to me.. I am so sorry you had to go through all that in your life ❤
Knew this this would be hard on you. Sending you a big hug. Won't squeeze you too hard, I'm 80, lol. BTW I like your drum intro best. Seems to be fitting for you. Just my opinion which is worth squat.
I'm so sorry for your pain from the memories 😢 triggered from this emotional masterpiece from 🧚♂️ Aurora 🧚♂️. The "understood" motive behind this song is 🧚♂️ Aurora 🧚♂️ heard of a couple where the woman was terribly ill and suffering; the man killed her to end her suffering. I do not know if it's a true story or not. Healing thoughts to you from a fellow attempted murder survivor😢
I know it's not what the song is supposed to be about, but I like to look at the song like a metaphor for a troubled man breaking up with his girlfriend, because he doesn't think he's good for her, and it's breaking her heart. Considering the memories this song brought out, you might want to avoid Churchyard and It Happened Quiet, or at least go into them prepared. They're both amazing songs and her live performances of them are great, but they can be pretty triggering.
I understand what you're saying but for me... the most difficult, darkest days of my life have been my best teachers... They have made me into a stronger, empathic, more adaptable human being. The meaning of the song wasn't what I thought it was, so in learning the true meaning of the song... that brought about tears all over again. lol But for some reason, the night I listened to this song, I needed to be remind of a terrible time in my past... and the fact I survived it. It's the pain that teaches me the most valuable lessons and builds me up for stuff coming down the pipe. If that makes any sense at all. 😅 Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Aurora is only 19 here, what an old head on young shoulders. Amazing talent

I think it was wrong to recommend this song to you, one of the saddest in Aurora's repertoire. You may be too emotional and empathetic to support it.
I think this person underestimated your strength… this can be a healing experience.
I understand what you're saying but for me... the most difficult, darkest days of my life have been my best teachers... They have made me into a stronger, empathic, more adaptable human being.
