I started meal planning last year, and it has really saved me money. The other thing is just to be aware of cheaper ways to get what you want. Example...yesterday I went to the store just to buy 1 red onion that I needed for a specific recipe. I always look at the reduced produce rack first, and I was able to get a bag of mixed produce for $2 Cdn. The bag contained 2 red onions, 2 apples, 1 orange and a small eggplant. All of it was in good shape. The eggplant I cooked last night and was big enough for 2 meals for me. The apples will go in my morning oatmeal for a couple of servings, I already ate the orange, and the onions are pretty fresh and won't go bad before I use them up. All for $2!
Meal planning works for some folks. We just buy sales and stock up on those. Not all things are on sale, but we try to get the lowest price. We buy hamburger for the month when it goes on sale. We stock up when meat is on sale at a low price. We keep things for a tomato base sauce usually marinara that can be changed with spices, flour for white sauce, cream of mushroom too. We keep a good stock of canned goods from Aldi. We buy a couple of fruits and veggies weekly on sale. We keep chopped green peppers, onions, celery, and carrots in freezer to throw in casseroles. Same with blueberries and blackberries for cobblers and pies. Also, we keep the budget thr same amount weekly so it diesn't throw off other areas. Some weeks meat takes half of the budget
I literally went and got milk, creamer, coffee, butter, eggs, cheese crackers, chocolate syrup and bananas yesterday and spent $43. 🤯🤯🤯 It’s ridiculous. 💜 once I’m debt free we are going to get some chickens and get a garden started.
@@katv1195 oh I know! I’ve priced it out. I live in the country and already own cows. I don’t have an HOA. My ultimate goal is to go off grid as much as possible.
Wow. You made me realized I’m blessed. Today I had eggs from my chickens. And ate a Cactus salad from the Cacti my dad planted. And I didn’t realized I took it for granted. Somehow I forgot that I’m able to have this things. I hope you get to have these blessings soon for you and your family. 🙌
I just reversed shopped right after watching this this morning. 11 dinners and only spending $105, including the basics like milk, eggs, and bread. Thanks so much for the awesome tips! I'll put it on the fridge so when I ask what everyone wants for dinner, I won't have to make a bowl of "I don't know" for atleast the rest of the month.
Meal prep and pick up is the secret sauce! Love that! Still I can do better with my groceries. The shopping deals are a hack 😮 never thought about that
I started reverse meal planning in the early 1990s. I saved 30%, then 40%, then eventually 70-75% 💰 off my original shopping method. If someone is looking for a way to cut costs drastically/dramatically, I believe it’s the best way. Other ideas fit with the method to further reduce costs. During different seasons of my life, I kept a 1 month to 12 month pantry/freezer. Every time I hit a plateau, I could try to add another small idea to either lower my cost of groceries, energy or even add fun. Eventually, I added a fun night (make your own homemade pizzas or tacos) and an expensive dinner night like peel and eat shrimp 🍤, high cost steak 🥩, and even a dinner out. I hope your viewers will embrace this method of planning 📒 and shopping 🛒.
I meal plan dinners, and every Thursday is pizza night. I buy Aldis pepperoni pizza. 1 is enough to feed my family of 6 (usually with salad). And then we typically have a leftover night or 2 or make whatever you want night during the week. Plus, hubby and i eat leftovers for lunches. We spend $800 month, but that includes pet foods, household needs like toilet paper, etc.
I have learned to shop at 6 stores...I look at what we all we have..then I have a meal plan for what we are having each night. I buy a month full of meat, frozen veggies, anything frozen we buy in a full month. I write up the list...then do price planning...which stores are cheaper to get certain items and which ones are having sales. I try not over buy or frivolous buy unless I can think of a quick dish with what I already have.....Oh and try Turkey and Mushroom over rice or potatoes...my kids love that one also besides the chicken one.
Shopping the deals and knowing your stores is so crucial! Love the full month planning idea. Turkey and mushroom over potatoes sounds amazing, and I will try it. Thanks 😁
@@k-mart7475 All it is ground turkey, mushroom soup, with sliced mushrooms. Instant potted potatoes made to go with it usually or we go with either wild rice or white rice to smother with the concoction.
I’m the same way when planning meals I don’t really like planning my meals by days of the week. I’ll write out the meals I like and just make them according to my mood 😅 planning my meals by day felt too strict, so I’m more casual with how I cook and I don’t cook every single day either because I would have too much leftovers and my fridge is small, so I make a meal, eat the leftovers the next day and then the following day I’ll make something new. Aldi’s is my go to for groceries. I feel like my money stretches further there.
New hear enjoyed this videos as we meal planned earlier today this is kinda how we did it. We also don't enjoy setting meals for certain days just as long as we plan meals for the week. I feel like our biggest struggle is have breakfast already prepared for the mornings, we struggle we fun nurturing snacks and also left overs. We never have enough leftovers for everyone to have some.
I'm so glad, thanks for letting me know!! It has been the way I have done grocery shopping for a long time, and I was happy to share that with you all!! 😁❤️
A great way i budget is use the walmart app as my grocery list. It shows you the total in the cart. I delete items as i pick them up in the store. Also Aldi beats walmart 9/10. I save about $20+ per week going to aldi first and then walmart after. That's over $1,000 a year just by changing where i do my shopping.
I dont use up that much gas money only in a month i paid only 47.50 in gas. That is on the high end.....i try to keep my gas bill every month to filling up every few days that i get a gallon or 2....So i dont spend that much on food bc i get free food from my insurance company which is good for me bc i dont waste food neither....😊😊😊
Welcome to the channel. Please know that. I didn't start out with that. I started out with a budget that was very, very low and took quite a while to earn where I am now but with side hustling and budgeting and self-discipline and self-improvement. Finally, I got to where I am now, so please hear me when I say don't give up. Keep pressing forward!! So this is a combo salary with my husband. We both have two jobs, he is a special education teacher and in training to be a retirement/insurance broker. I am a coder and do tons of side hustles. (youtube, digital products, babysitting, etc...) Thanks for watching. I hope there were some helpful tips 😁❤️
loved this video, thoroughly enjoy your channel. Can you do a deep dive on Fetch. I never knew about the points with WM / Amazon. Also, are the grocery printables available for download? Thanks for all the planning / work you put into your channel. It's very much appreciated. Tami in Lower Alabama
In my area, expensive suburbs of Washington DC, having a home daycare of 8 toddler 2-5yr would do it. $300 week per child X 8 children = $2,400 week X 50 weeks = $120,000 a year. Take that and divide by 12 ($120,000/12=) $10,000 a month. Add in a part time working spouse making $1,000 a month a there you go. Keep the business to your walk-out basement with windows and your home is still your castle. Some childcare businesses even offer additional services or products to increase their income.
I use online recipes all the time. Very helpful for using what you have!
Yes great resource indeed.

TFS, really enjoyed. need to use what I have before I buy more, but then I get in the must stockpile mode and don't know when to use and when to save.
That's why you buy new deals after shopped at home, but stick to a budget, or we can all get a little out of hand with deals ❤️👍

Would you make a video about getting and setting up your chickens?
That would be fun, I will look into that. It's so much easier than I thought!!
I'm new here. I know I can do this just on regular paper. But where do you get your planning sheets from? Nice. Thanks!
Totally can, but here is the link to all my forms.

Just curious, do you play the games on Fetch for extra points? I used to do the daily spin but I’m not sure about signing up for the games.
I did a few times but didn't seem to get any points.
Hi, there! I ordered stuff on Amazon. How do I add the receipt to my fetch, please?
Is your email linked? Click the orange camera, and it will put up a blue e button. Click that and put in email and amazon info.
Do you have any videos on medical coding? I’ve been looking more into this recently, do you recommend?
I don't have any videos, but if I was staring out, I would look at AAPC or AHIMA for schooling and information. ❤️
Is Amazon it for anything that you order that can be added to fetch ?
I have my accounts linked, so any groceries I order on amazon I get points for it from amazon and 25 points for every order purchased.
@@lymanjoy Thank you for the information 🙏!
That's what I call "cherry picking the deals." Then, I discipline myself not to get anything that is not on my list.😅
That's the key, I have to tell myself over and over. Only deals, only deals. 😆
