    THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for not ignoring African history! I'm black British so find the European charts you make very interesting but am always sad that people igonor African history. It feeds the dangerous narrative that Africa had nothing going for it pre colonialism and the slave trade because of the bigoted assumption that Africa and its people couldn't look after themselves. As a Brit you are never taught any of this in school. I also studied history and classical studies at undergraduate level in the UK (before youtube was a thing) and it wasn't part of the conversation there which was considered completely ok. We don't have any HBCUs here so its really hard to find history which is inclusive and not tainted by prejudice. Thank you again! Im going to share this with lots of people! You have totally made my day! I've just subscribed! I really hope you will do more videos of African dynasties!

      I mean, school curriculums tend to focus on what's relevant to its country's history. In Brazil, a western country founded by europeans, we don't see much of european history after the discovery of Brazil, when there's A LOT to talk about on this period.

    • @IM2MERS
      @IM2MERS 3 роки тому

      @@MrShadowThief agreed the state where I'm from focuses on tx history more than us history so it basically doesn't include any of the british history just starts at the revolution and after that there wasn't really anything interesting in us history besides the civil and world wars. So I find all old world history to be extreamly interesting. besides them devaluing their gold I wonder what happened to their wealth and where that money/gold ended up today.

    I don't know why people keep saying that Mansa Musa was the richest person in history when it has been disproven?
    Firstly, his exact wealth isn't known, only an estimated range of what his wealth could have been based on stories about him. People often take the upper limit of his possible wealth when trying to make the point that he was the richest man to ever live.
    Secondly, even if we take his upper limit he still isn't richer than Chinese Emperor Zhao Xu (who was x75 richer than him) or Mughal Emperor Akbar the first (who was x52.2 richer than him).

    Mansa Musa is not the definitive richest man in history. The source of that belief is erroneous. He was most likely one of the wealthiest people in history, but monarch's wealth is tied to that of the state. It is not the same as an individual's wealth. It is virtually impossible to accurately calculate the wealth of people that far back.
