You are so right. Some of the hotels are great like Sandy Haven as you mentioned. I stayed at Sandy Haven and loved it. 10 out of 10. Service was extremely amazing. On the other hand I stayed at Charela Inn and Service was very poor. I would not advice anyone to stay at Charela Inn especially if you are a person of color as they treat others better. Wifi was very poor at Charela Inn as well and furniture is older
In 1952 when I first came to Negril it was pure swamp land across the road from Seven Mile beach and infested with malarial mosquitos. The government recruited several dozen youths to spray the swamp with DDT and burn some of the bush. The beach side of the road was dense with sea grape trees. There was no restaurant and if you wanted vittles you had to buy from the few fishermen who lived near the river. Roads to Green Island and Little London were loose marl, if I remember well. It was hot as hell and there was no place to get a beer. Who would have had the foresight to buy land there?
Good road, place looks clean...
Long time I haven't been to Negril.
Interesting history lesson.
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it

Wow thank you for sharing this insightful information
Imagine, no white line in the middle of the road, where most visitors drive on a different side of the road. Not impressed.
