Great job!! Really nice build and paint looks great. I really like the way you cleaned the chrome parts with oven cleaner and repainted them to a more realistic look. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed this video. 😊
First off, you did an excellent job on this kit and, like the other comments that were posted, the colors look amazing. I hope you are open to a little constructive criticism and I am definitely nit picking. You did a nice job on weathering the engine, which leads me to believe you are trying to capture some realism to the model. However the frame work is absolutely clean. You may wish to consider adding some weathering to the frame, shock mounts etc. to complete the weathering effect. Once again, I think you did a fantastic job on this kit, please don't think I'm downing your work. I just wanted to make a suggestion that your may wish to follow on future builds. I almost did not make this comment for fear of being misunderstood. Again, its just a suggestion. Your model is fantastic! Oh! and I like the music too!
Hey, not a problem. I'm always open to constructive criticism, that's how we all improve. I had actually planned on weathering the frame and other parts of the truck but it came out looking so nice I decided to leave it. Some times I am criticized for adding "too much" weathering to my builds. Thanks for the honesty and the constructive criticism and I am glad you liked the build, and the music. have a great week.
@@PlasticImaginationWorkshop I was so unsure about sending that comment. I am glad you understand the intent. Once again that is an absolutely beautiful build.
I have to agree about the wheels and tyres, apart from that it's a great kit but the vinyl tyres are truly awful. I replaced them with Italeri rubber tyres, the diameter is ok but they are wider so you have to space the rims out with plastic card. Thanks for posting the video, some useful tips and ideas.
I totally agree, they are definitely the weak point of this kit. If I do another one I will most likely get some aftermarket wheels/tires for it. Thanks for watching, have a great day.
Great build bud looks fantastic. I'm building this as we speak, still in paint and detail stage. I also can't fault the quality apart from the way the wheels and tyres go together, eventually managed to get them sorted. Looking forward to some more vids
This is a great kit if you're just jonesin for a good reliable quick build! I've done 3 or 4 of these kits, and they look fantastic as a straight build. Outta the box! Probably some of cleanest looking builds. I've modified one, stretched the frame put a 3rd drive axle and a big ol tank on it. Was one of most finiky mods I've done. The frame and the way it goes together just don't lend themselves to modifications. That said, I like the kit! Will probably buy more! It would be an excellent first kit for somebody who hasn't built a semi before!
I agree, they are great kits for a quick build and also would be a good kit for a beginner wanting to get into these. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
Thanks. If you're trying to glue painted or plated parts together, you will want to use superglue. Any brand will work, but that will bond them very well. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, and no, this color scheme is just my imagination. This is a nice kit, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day.
im in the process f building this kit. My uncle is a auto transporter or tesla. His peterbilt is white and red. im wondering how you did the blue on the fenders without bleeding the blue onto the white. I would appreciate your help thanks also the truck looks absolutely amazing!!!
The fenders are separate parts so I painted them before attaching them to the rest of the hood. I hope you build one, it's a great kit and thanks for the compliment.
Yeah, the wheels and tires on this kit really need to be re engineered.. Really the worst part of this kit. I ended up gluing mine in place with some super glue. Otherwise, it's a nice kit. Thanks for watching and have a great week.
Thanks Rick. I Mission Models gloss black, followed up with thin layers of Mission Models Chrome. I didn't go for the glossy chrome look, more of a standard aluminum wheel, I think they came out pretty good. Have a great day.
Question: Does the oven cleaner foam removes the chrome AND the lacquer that is between the chrome and the plastic? Until now I've used bleach, but the bleach only removes the chrome but not the lacquer that they use on the sprues before applying the chrome.
It does remove most of it but it will still leave some of the lacquer behind. That said, if your goal is to paint the parts, any good primer will adhere to the parts even if there is still some lacquer left behind, unlike the chrome plating. After the primer has dried, the parts can be painted just like any other part. I hope this helps.
Ouch, that sucks, sorry... Only suggestion would to be pinning it. If you watch my "Hank the Tank" video, I show pinning one of the wheels that snapped off, which sounds like what may have happened to you. The pinning process is the same. Drill a small hole, in the shaft and in the part on the wheel. Use a short pin, or part of a paper clip, glue it in both sides. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
Thanks for asking. I try to clean off the paint from both parts, if I can. If I have to glue painted parts together I use a CA (super glue) to assemble them. You just have to be careful around clear parts because super glue fumes will fog them. Have a great day
Hey, I have a question. Did you have a problem putting the front tires on, mine will literally just slide on, I tilt it or move it, slide off. How should I fix this, or do you not know? My rear tires just snapped on, unlike the fronts. Please reply! All the best, Liam Jackson
I also did try to put the tires on differently but the rim/hub insert pillars weren't long enough. I hope you can help me figure this out, I spent a lot of time on the project anyways.
Hi Liam. I am assuming your referring the the "wheels" and not the tires? My wheels didn't want to stay on either so I just used a little super glue to keep them from falling off. They should snap into place but mine didn't. The downside is that the wheels will no longer rotate. I hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day. -David
Great question, thanks for asking. This one came out in 2020 but it was just an updated box. The previous update was the box and decals. However, and this is where it gets confusing, if you follow the history on Scalemates you can see that this version was upgraded from the original (Monogram kit) back in 1982 and that WAS a snap kit. The first version of this that was released as NOT a snap kit (now under Revelle) was back in 2006. Even if this kit is somewhat based on the snap kit, it does require glue for everything to fit properly. Sorry, I went on a little too much there but that's the story. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching, have a great day. -David
ua-cam.com/video/QC1BvIeO2rI/v-deo.html This is my build of that same truck. But it doesn't look exactly like it is in this video. I came back to it and added a bunch of scratch build accessories. It's been my favorite build to date.

I like how you drilled out the stacks to give them an open lock
Thanks. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching.
Wow you really Detailed this one its nice and clean.!!

Great build! I really like the direction you took it. The white is perfect on that rig.
Thanks a bunch! I really enjoyed building this one too. Colors work well together and I think it came out great. Thanks for watching.
What an excellent, enjoyable and interesting video build.

Great work on your Peterbilt.

Just need that Blue visor...kit looks great

Nice build had the same issue with the tires on my Kenworth W900 Aerodyne
Thank you. These wheels and tires are a pain, they should really improve them. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend and Happy New Year.

Front wheel, mit glue?

I’m having a problem with the wheels
What is the problem? These wheel and tire assemblies are not the best to begin with. Keep at it, I'm sure you can figure it out. 😉
That wheel design is the worst Ive ever seen, took 2 days and finally super glue along the bead to make them fit properly
