I recommend to have a portable plasma with your rig. So you can quickly take the work out if you don't get paid. I used cut off wheels and torch but I feel I could have done it much quicker with plasma. Then trailer to throw materials on.
@@Ruben901 if you have it in a contract agreement or you may get in trouble for theft. You can put Lein on property also. But be careful nowadays because no matter how rite you are the law always seems to hurt the good people. Just look at Joe Biden and Hillary.
I had this happen when I was selling a welder on craigslist. I was asked by one person to text another person and they left a email. So a day later was contacted by another name from the same post, with detailed info and yes I could not contact them by phone or meet them. So I talked with my wife and we agreed to just squashing it. Good content. Probably best to still do business in person.
I've seen this scam around for quite some time. I'm glad to see you are bringing awareness about these scams. Often browsing through fabrication pages and such on social media people ask about these gates quite often. Makes me sad to wonder how many people silently fall victim to these losers!
Much respect to you young brother. I've been in this fabrication industry for over 40 years. It's a shame folks try to scam good people out of hard earned money. Keep up the good work. Best of luck to your business
Absolutely!! Look them up, do your due diligence. I've looked up people that wanted to partner up in starting a business and they don't have any background..then I've asked if they changed their name recently and usually that's where they get irrate, defensive, and drag your name through the mud for it..be prepared scammers get very crazy when exposed.
Yo I only fuck with the companies direct no email no phone calls all personal meeting to establish business no other way pays after the connection we email and call but I absolutely will not fuck with anything else. If they ain’t making a deposit it’s not legit.
Lol I can’t believe it the notorious gate scam , this has been the same gate scam going on for years !! I’m in several cnc plasma groups on Facebook this gate comes up every couple of weeks ! I recommend joining a community group on your field! A lot of these scams are the same ones for years! Being in a group will give you a heads up
One way to cut to the chase on these scammers is to only give quotes / estimates after they come to the shop in person. And if it's going to be an involved quote/estimate requiring more than 5-10 minutes of work, tell them there's going to be an up front cost for the estimate (depending on complexity of the project/drawing).
Scammers are never a problem for me because their tactics are so unsophisticated, idiotic, and nonsensical. Never in my lifetime have I ever dealt with a prospect I haven't spoken with in person, or on the phone. If an installation is required, a site survey is mandatory, and that's when I qualify the prospect. Even on your financially worse day, always be prepared to say no. Anyone making an excuse not to communicate via phone and/or meet in person isn't serious and not worth considering, move on. Stay grinding Rico.
So glad you made this. I’ve gotten both of these scams. The water tank stand I actually bid it over $15,000 as I was getting leery and of course he said that was perfectly fine. When payment method came out they wanted me to use their own credit card company and the way he started talking shortly into it I knew it was a scam in my gut. I continued with it as kind of a practice being relatively new to practice doing a bid but luckily I never was out any money
Had that same gate scam today but from a Baker Green. Same blueprint and everything. I asked to call them and they quit responding. Thanks for the video.
Glad you made this video bro i just got hit up by some one asking for a plate form for a water tank exactly with the picture and dont feel bad bro i made it all the way to step 6 too haha my wife was the one that had to tell me this was too much the scammer said he needed a invoice and he couldn't take any forms of payment by credit card ,word for word what your speaking just literally happened to me and my company about 2 weeks ago (scammers name was peter smith) ill be on the watch and keep my head on a swivel . Great content guys like us just starting need to hear this ill be passing it along keep it up 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👍👍🙏🙏👨🏽🏭👨🏽🏭

I had 3 different people send me a picture of the same gate within a week. The same pic you showed. That scam goes around. One guy wanted me to build it and said he’d have his driver pay for it at pickup. lol 😂
Don't do business unless it is face to face or an actual phone call. Keep your work local. I have 0 online stuff not even promotions for my business.. hackers will find a way so if you keep your business personal it is a lot safer.

This is some good advice that I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet thanks for sharing bro, I too am in Houston and just started my legitimate business while still working full time just trynna get it like u bro
What's going on is your dealing with a bot with a script written to respond based on key words you say when you speak each time. The scammers don't waste their time unless they think they got a fish.
Bro I got that same exact pic of a fence and gate that’s wild the same exact picture!! The guy just happened to be on a vacation and wanted it built while away on vacation I knew it was shit right away
I had William McDowell hit me up for the scaffolding project for the water tank. Same exact picture and same exact drawing. I'm in KS and he wanted it delivered to VA. Luckily I caught on before I started to get metal prices and started making plans. First thing they ask is do you accept credit card or bank transfer. Now one of the first things I ask is where are you located and then call them.
Haha I've gotten all those same scams! It's pretty obvious when they try and scam you I always just drop my number and say hey give me a call to discuss your project I don't do business through emails for that reason unless I've already done business with that person/company.
I was screwed by a deacon from a seventh day Adventist church here in L.A. he was in a big hurry to get 4 brackets on 2 100gallons water heaters after the job was done he came up with more excuses and questions the he should've mention before I did the 3yrs now still haven't been paid
Same damn scammers tried getting me too. Wasted hours figuring material and how to bend the top piece and actually purchase material and fabricated the posts until my friend told me it was a scam after they said they’d pay me with and electronic check and wouldn’t use any other form of payment.
I'm in Austin, I own a welding service, I got the same dang prints for both. Another thing that's been going on is, other welders and or welding companies will email or call, and ask for a quote on a job. But those are idiots that don't know how to bid on a job. So they use your knowledge to help them give a quote and also to possibly compete against you. I've caught many of them, I get my wife to call their number, that's when I find out they are in the welding and fabrication business. When you realize it's a scam, text them back a pic of your poop in the toilet or a pic of your nuts. Rico, if you are ever in Austin doing a job, you're welcome to use my shop. Damn brother I’m in Colorado and got a scam like this also a few years back while trying to apply for jobs though. Some guy with the same story of I’ll send you a check with extra cash and take your cut then send the rest back to me for my driver or some shit and I literally took it to deposit at the bank and thankfully when I sent him the 1500 or 2000 back I entered his email on Zelle wrong or I would have been fucked. About 2 days later the money disappeared on my account due to it being an account with no funds. Fucking losers can’t get a real job or skill to do rather then steal hard working peoples money.
