    At some point in time, I realized Kai was infantilized and Taehyun is over sexualized but I never compared the two. When you put it into perspective like this, it’s shocking.

    Right now, I think Kai is just living his adult life by doing more “adult” things, but he might also be simultaneously trying to shed the maknae image. I think last year he mentioned that he got rid of almost all of his plushies (which is totally normal) and it seems that he’s finding his style. He even recently got piercings after not having them all these years since he was afraid it would ruin his cute image. He’s wearing less hoodies and sweatpants and more comfortable, yet stylish clothing. As you know, he’s also been working out and embracing more of a sexy and mature side on stage and I love that for him. He’s simply growing and discovering more about himself. I can only hope moas will let him do that in peace.
    **edit:* I am NOT treating Taehyun like a child by saying the following things. Pls scroll down and read my reply in this thread if you don’t understand or need full context…
    As for Taehyun, I agree with everything you said. I mentioned in the other comment section the problems with over sexualization in editing and it certainly happens with Taehyun a lot. It’s disgusting to see people make those comments. I’ve seen the argument that if someone is an adult the fans can sexualize them as they please, which is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. Like what happened to consent? He is a human being with human emotions and ofc he wants to be viewed and treated as one. Like why are we even having this conversation? Kpop fans be normal challenge: failed 💀

      @@Kkttrr31643 No, that is not what I mean at all. You don’t have the context behind my post. In my initial statement, I mention how I made a comment regarding sexy edits, but what I did not mention specifically is what I said in the comment. If you’d like to see this comment about edits, it is under the video “no, your idol is not your babygirl” by the creator of this video. In that comment I made sure to mention that it is perfectly ok to think the guys are sexy, especially if they are intentionally acting that way. I am well aware that they are grown men. I have no problem with them being sexy and being perceived that way. I think they are too. What is not ok, is fans overstepping boundaries. I have seen several edits where there will be clips used of one of the members literally just doing normal things (not with the intention of being sexy) and the editor makes a conscious decision to sexualize them. For example, I once saw a Huening Kai edit where an editor used a clip of Kai when he was playing a game with the members. It was just a fun, silly game. They had to catch whipped cream in their mouths, which Kai failed to do, so it ended up all over his face. The editor took this harmless clip and sexualized it for their own pleasure. This behavior is too normalized among fans. I even saw people in the comments saying stuff like “I wish he’d *** in me” (use your imagination to fill in the blank) or “I’d lick that off of him.” I hope you can understand how that’s problematic. I bet they wouldn’t say that about some random dude they find attractive on the street. They’re objectifying Kai and sexualizing him at a time where he was not intending to be sexualized. It’s ok if it’s consensual but I doubt the average person would be ok with that. Also, I know some idols like and even embrace such comments and if they do that is perfectly fine. I’m just saying, I’m sure a lot of them would not appreciate sexualization in that context.

      @@Kkttrr31643 My original reply to you disappeared. Basically, what I said is, you misunderstood this comment and took it out of context. I am well aware that TXT are grown men and I have no problem with them being sexy and wanting to be perceived that way. I view them that way as well. For context, the creator of this video has another video called “No, your idol is not your babygirl” and in that video I made a comment about sexualizing idols in edits. I encourage you to read the full thing for complete understanding but I will explain it here anyway. I mentioned how I’ve seen a lot of edits sexualize members from clips that were never supposed to be sexual. For example, I saw a Huening Kai edit and in one of the clips he was playing a game with the members where they tried to catch whipped cream in their mouths. It was a fun, silly game, and the editor took a normal clip and made it sexual. That is completely objectifying. The comment section of the edit included things such as “I want him to … in me” and “I’d l**k that off of him.” All for a clip of him having fun with no intention of being sexualized. I hope you can see the problem with that. It was NOT consensual. Their sexy dance moves, thirst trap photos from Taehyun, suggestive lyrics, etc. ARE consensual. I hope this clears things up. There is a difference. Also, I know some “idols” are perfectly fine with hearing and seeing comments like that and even encourage it but I’m speaking for those who wouldn’t be.

      It’s even sadder because kpop companies capitalise off stuff like this, it’s why we get so much content from them involving their personal lives. To some extent I understand, it helps you feel closer to the members and appreciate them so much more, but it gets to a point where obsession and actually believing you know them becomes overwhelming.

    What bothers me is some moas suddenly calling Hueningkai hot, because he buffed up and grew. That means that all this time they thought he was ugly. Yeonjun, Soobin and Beomgyu never had to change to prove they’re attractive and it’s unfair. With Taehyun, I’ve noticed that his popularity is incompetent and competent at the same time. Some comebacks he’s popular then the next he’s blown to the wind. Also whenever moas talk about him half of the time or sometimes even all the time it’s about his abs or something about his body. With the other members it’s different, there’s still a good portion of decent fans who talk about their memes or something funny. But with Taehyun it’s always about how he’s not a baby boy anymore and that his waist is snatched. I feel so bad to taehyun and hueningkai, these two have always been separated from the group since the beginning….

      Omg THIS. I have seen so many people saying "kai has glown up" "kai had a glow up this year" when he was already glowing all these years? Ya'll just didn't see his mature side, everyone ignored it. Sadly i wasnt a moa at that time, i just became a moa like in 2024 but i have seen their old videos. He was never ugly or bad looking tho... The only difference was he was younger and since moas called him cute, he kept his cute image in sake of moa. There are a lor of occasions where we see other members fighting or playing around and he is just sitting and laughing at them. It shows that he was already matured up. Now just because he started to work out, people are suddenly calling him hot and he is gaining attention.. this is so stupid. People didn't give him attention before when he didn't work out... This is so annoying to think about.. he is basically my bias. Kai is maturing very well, it's natural that at his age a lot of Moa find him very attractive and, dare I say, modestly sexy. Yet a lot of other Moa are still stuck in this mindset that he's still a 'baby' and if you comment on how flirtatious and low-key sexy he can be, these Moa will come at you angrily for 'sexualizing' him. He's going to be 23 this year! Let the guy be an adult! People can find him attractive and physically appealing without being creepy and pervy!
    And this might not have anything to do with anything, but people tend to forget that Kai is only the maknae of the group. In real life, he's a middle child AND an older brother. From what we've seen in various content that feature sisters, his maturity is more than evident.

It’s the maknae position that’s holding them back from becoming who they want to be in the eyes of their fans.

    On X/Twitter, it's literally the opposite now: HueningKai is oversexualized, and Taehyun is the cute Maknae. Moas are calling that out, but I haven't seen UA-cam videos discussing this. Kai even said on a live that the reason he would act cute was because trainees said he should, so he started acting like that. He wasn't always like that. Oversexualizing Taehyun only started when he started going to the gym, something he wanted to do, but Bighit would not let him. I hate fans' excuses of him being an adult, because there are edits when, internationally he was 17. During TXT's debut, the whole group concept was cute, so in the beginning, everyone was seen as cute. To this day, if you search debut-era videos, there are comments saying they are so cute.

  • @cynthiawilson5602

    Kai's cute image changing reminded me of Enhypen Sunoo. Someone commented that Sunoo was their bias, but because he is not acting cute all the time, they are starting to become less of one and now, just like all the members. I saw comments similar with how Kai is acting. They are not always going to act cute, so I don't really understand if that fan should claim they are a huge Sunoo stan. Whether you are OT whatever or have a bias, I don't think people are really one until they learn to accept all of their traits. They are human, so they will look cute or hot, act cool or funny. Also, understand they are growing up, so maybe they won't act fully like they did when they were younger. A fan loves all of their personalities.

    • @cynthiawilson5602
      @cynthiawilson5602 Місяць тому +10

      This is a similar thing I am noticing with fans. They like them cute, and when an idol is young, they will act cute for the fans. But the more they grow into an adult, the more embarrassing it feels. I don't think you would be a huge fan if you only liked him when he was being cute.

    15:30 Wow, I’ve never thought of it this way. I really appreciate you for sharing your point of view. This was a serious event that still affects Taehyun to this day. He still doesn’t post as frequently on weverse as he did before the incident. You’re right the memes are tone deaf and it’s almost as if we’re laughing at his situation.
    On the other hand, I don’t think moas meant any harm making the joke. A lot of U.S. and other international moas pride themselves for not taking rumors too seriously so we always joke about it. For us, our fave getting caught at a bar is nothing. I remember the day that news came out I was only shocked because the news was public, not because a grown man was at a club.
    Another reason international fans may joke during a situation like this is because we believe jokes combat the hate and overreaction from the Korean fans. If the idols see how normal we’re acting they’ll know someone still cares about them, right? A little bit of jokes to balance out all the hate, that never hurt anyone? Now here’s the most interesting part about this topic: *the jokes help fuel international fans’ superiority complex.* Think about it, if the majority of the Korean moas are out here telling the idol to leave the group and majority of the international moas are cracking jokes about how boring the club looks and how they can give better recommendations, who do you think looks better? Although in your eyes it’d be nobody 💀 as I stated before international fans fans have a superiority complex so no matter what we do, even if it’s bad we think “well at least we’re not as bad as them”. The jokes help further push the agenda that we are their “cooler” and “more chill” fans who don’t care what they do. In reality, what our faves really need is for us to put aside our differences, and work to get those videos taken down.

      Oh wow. This is such a well articulated take. I’ve never thought of this before. I feel like a lot of the superiority complex battle is subconscious. Like we sometimes don’t even realize why we think we’re better, it’s just that we consider certain things to be common sense and when other people’s actions don’t align with the that, it’s easy to dismiss them completely. (I’m not saying we’re better than Korean fans btw, I’m just admitting that there are times when I believe international fans handle things a bit more appropriately. Not all the time ofc. Not all international fans are supportive the same way not all Korean fans are dismissive. Fans are still fans no matter where they’re from and there’s a mix of good and bad from both places).

    Oh, and one thing I've realized is that most K-pop artists don't know how to show their mature self or how to introduce their mature self to their fans, and so they replace cute with sexy. Not all of them want to be seen as sexy, but they might not know how to show their mature and grown self.

    Kai is my bias, and i have a lot of moa friends who choosed kai as their bias, and we all love every side of him. No matter if it's cute or sexy. Because he truly is capable of being both. I think people who stated staning txt late they just don't know how he actually grown up. I am very proud of him, because the thing that made him my bias was his incredible talented and passion for music, and not the cutie concept. I fall in love with him after seeing GBGB mv, he looked so cool there, before that i wasn't paying that much attention to him, to be honest. But now he is my favorite member. I think the moas who actually care about txt members opinion, will never judge them for being who they are. There always will be people who is just don't mature themselves so they would say "oh how dare you to change so much!" Kai said that he want to make his solo debut with more a mature and "sexy???" Vibe i guess, at least that's what he said, if i am not mistaking.
    Also i don't know if it's just me who thinks that, but i don't think that Hueningkai is hating to be cute, in fact i feels like he enjoying it at certain level.
    Taehyun's personality is so amazing and i generaly look up to him. Just as kai, he can be cute and sexy, and we would love both sides. The reason why people think he is smart is also because the way he speaks, he is not only saying some random facts, but also using high level word, like a book level vocabulary, it feels like he always know exactly what he wants to say. Maybe It's not that clear when you watch him in English, but when you know korean, you can feel it. Taehyun is not a magician, he is magical himself ✨
    And aslo, i think being "cute baby" for the fans is better than being a "hot man", because when people start to see them as "men", you know, fans sometimes become too delulu, and it's not funny.
    Last thing, i love the maknaes and their friendship so much. In my first ever txt album i got Kai and Taehyun, i was so happy ❤
    I see all the members more as a brothers and not as boyfriends. They really remainding me of my own brothers.

      I started stanning them really late, in 2024. At first he wasn't my bias but as time passed by. I started loving him so much that he has been my bias throughout the whole year (with taehyun being my bias wrecker) the reason why he is my bias is because i really loved his unique vocal tone and we loved the same genre of music. I have seen so many moas say his vocal improved but i have seen their old performances and he was already good? What do y'all mean by "improved" and i have also seen so many people saying he has a glow up this year. Be fr, ya'll never paid attention to him. He was never ugly. He was always glowing. People ignored him and when he started working out, people suddenly started talking about him.. it shows how people are such shameless. They only care about the body. Which clearly shows in taehyun's case. Taehyun get really less attention. Whenever i see other member biased moa talk about him, they are either talking about his body or abs.. this is so annoying. That is something that can be dangerous for someone, especially if they are still young. You treat this kid like he is an adult, soon many people see him that way and disregard his actual age so then he gets less protection that he most likely still needs and he has grown adults getting too close to him that could take advantage of him. No matter how smart, wise, and mature he appears to be, he is still young. That could lead to some very bad occurrences, as have been the case many times in the history of the entertainment industry. It doesn't matter what country you are from, there are people like that anywhere. Even if something like that didn't happen, I wonder what damage was done to Taehyun's mental wellbeing from that constant barrage of his so called fans hitting him with comments of a sexual nature or worse for years without being protected by other fans because they believe that he can "take care of himself" or he "brought it on himself" or he's "mature enough to handle it". This goes for the other idols as well. Do these people out there commenting and posting to their "favorite idols" even bother to consider those idols mental health and wellbeing. And they say that they "love them". Please. That's not love. Then they go to comment on the idols that they hate and I cannot believe they would say those things to a human being that isn't a murderer, child abuser, etc. but just an entertainer in a KPOP group that didn't deserve such hate and did nothing but not be someone elses taste or style or personality. I read those comments and I'm like, what the hell is wrong with people. You are attacking an innocent person. They did NOTHING to you! Anyway, Sorry, rant over. Had to get that out.

    Great video! But, as a Blink since debut, one slight correction. Lisa was never infantilized as the maknae. BP was a rare group where, when they debuted, they were all already adults. Lisa did act cute on varieties and stuff but there was barely any BP content at all for like the 1st year of their debut. So, I would say that the Lisa from BPs videos made the biggest impression on fans at that time and that view of Lisa being the cool and charismatic performer stayed with us. That being said, the people losing their minds over her crazy horse performance were, for the most part, not even Blinks. And, I would say, those same people (except the ones that were just doing it because they were BP-antis) would have had the same reaction whether it was Jisoo (the oldest in BP) or even one of the SNSD members that performed. And that's because Kpop idols and Korean celebrities in general, just don't do those kinds of overtly... more adult performances. So it was Kpop shocking rather than having anything to do with Lisa's maknae status. And, to show that this is true, just look at the reaction for Jennie's appearance in the Idol.Jennie is the 2nd oldest in BP and I would say she got even more hate for doing that show than Lisa did.
    Overall though I completely agree with your points and I've seen it a million times. It's just that BP isn't one of those groups. Also, I would say that kind of attitude it way more common with boy groups in general. In fact, I can't think of an instance of it actually happening even with Wonyoung who has been in the public eye since she was 13 and Somi who was the same age (in Sixteen). I can predict that it may happen in LSF since the members and the fandom are very protective of Eunchae but no evidence yet. Usually GG members are able to transition more easily into being adults than boy group members (in terms of fan reaction).

I wanted to quit liking kpop cuz i hate the fans, either they are extremely cringy or just straight up crazy and also lose interest in things quickly. I still like kpop music though. ps Im sorry for oversharing I have to no friends to talk to about this stuff. thank you for making this video i hope delusion fans see this and wake up to reality.

    i love kai and tae and honestly dont understand how you can isolate a single part of a person (childish/cutesy nature and/or body appeal). its disgusting. As a big group with a massive fandom, im kinda surprised this happens so much, but then again, "they're idols they don't know i exist they don't know/care". Yes they do. And it's your fault.

    Ngl I don’t care if they get mature or not I’ll still treat them normally. And some people need to realize that they’re adults not some random middle schoolers or something.

    something i've also noticed (and im not accusing any idol of anything) is that generally kpop group members never/hardly baby their second youngest members even if that member is the same age as the maknae or a year older but still underage.
    Examples are taehyun of txt, garam of lsrfm (who was just a year older to eunchae but never babied) Megan of katseye (who is not a kpop idol but katseye also uses the maknae concept. And even though she's just a year older to the maknae who was 15 she was never babied and allowed to twerk or act sexy). And mannyyyy other groups.
    I'm not saying that the members of these group are doing something wrong or that they never baby these members but it's just a phenomenon i've noticed both from the members and fans

    i rlly hate how babied kai is.. i remember when he was on live recently and he said he was drinking less carbonated/sweet drinks and eating less sweets to better his health and some moas (specifically ningdungies) were popping veins and overanalyzing it. and also saying ‘we’re losing our roots!’ just bc he wants to take care of his health.. i rlly don’t understand

    • @Pleaseleavemealoneooga

      Hey friend. Those ningdungies were being overdramatic as a joke, hope you know

    • @Pleaseleavemealoneooga
      @Pleaseleavemealoneooga 27 днів тому +3

      Going to unnecessarily over explain here but, ningdungies hate Kai being babied. Those jokes are *jokingly* being overdramatic over Kai saying he doesn’t eat something we’ve known he loves since debut as often anymore. Moawajjunies have the same reaction when yeonjun mentions he hasn’t been able to eat ramen in awhile, its a joke. You’ll be able to tell between the majority joking and few genuinely tweaking if you analyze at all.
      I did see people freaking out over him being on a diet in those quotes but those weren’t “specifically ningdungies” and saying “we’re losing our roots” is not even close to that.

    people treat idols like characters and not like people who grow up and change and have feelings just like everyone else. it’s a lack of empathy and respect and it needs to stop.

    Dang I agree like I. Saw kai as a human man in most countries when you turn 18 your an adult I literally stopped treating anyone who is is 18 or about to turn 18 I treated. Them like adults but trust me I do not sexualize anyone I just merely am a fan because of their awesome stage auras and personality 😅

    as a kai ult his personality and lifestyle is uncommon in society so i think those people think like that are friendless, if they knew the fact that he can do everything even in that personality they wont react like he is a baby or sth and an another FACT is he is not very masculine both showing himself and personality thats a factor ab this prob and some people dont even know kai are over masculinize him

      Ooh I never thought about that. The way they view his masculinity does play a part in how they treat him. How insulting. Moas do something similar to Beomgyu by calling him “babygirl” and “princess”. It’s supposed to be a joke but I wonder if he’d be bothered by those comments.

    just a few days ago a big kai account on twitter got exposed for bookmarking deepfakes of kai nsfw situations, a lot of them with his face when he was a teenager . It's very disturbing. they were practically obsessed with calling him babygirl and shipping him with soobin and seeing kai as the bottom of the pair. i was in a group chat with them, and anytime someone mentions kai working out or doing so-called manly stuff they jump. I didnt think much at first but it all makes sense now. When i watch some kais content and think back about their reaction my smile drops, there's actually a double meaning in all their posts that i didnt see before. It's just pure evil, they didn't see him as human but instead a character and the fact that they consume illegal content while acting all innocent on their big account

    • @ningiemoon
      @ningiemoon 22 дні тому +1

      Sorry for the long comment, im just very angry and disappointed and traumatised. I wish people would just see them for who they are, for who they present to us and accept all of that. They're humans and all humans are multifaceted, we dont need to put them in any boxes, that way they would be more comfortable showing their real personality to us too

    Watching this as someone who is not a Moa and only listens to TXT casually, I'm really surprised that fans have these views. I always thought Taehyun was very shy and adorable while Kai was more bubbly and outgoing. To me the rigid kpop ideas of "cute youthfulness/innocence" and "sensual maturity" are honestly a little ridiculous, when anyone from age 16 or older can showcase either or both of those traits without it reflecting their age or anything, because maturing happens in a different way and on a different timeline for everyone, and also at the end of the day they are performers, so how they act onstage doesn't always reflect who they are as a person. I think fans just need to remember that we don't know these people personally so we should try to avoid typecasting them (even if the company is trying to push a certain image) and allow them to be who they are offstage, because real humans have constantly changing personalities and it's not healthy to try to prevent that process just because fans are afraid of change.

    as a man, yes we do love getting "attention on our bodies, especially when were muscular and fit" - because muscles are what we work hard for they dont just appear like. I swear most gorls have no idea how much effort it takes to get abs and how much we apprecitate a compliment. If we pull our shirt up, its on us so of course we dont mind being objectified to that degree

    Oh and I hope they don't need to sell their skin any much more. Like I was kinda upset that beomgyu forced himself to wear something he wasn't comfortable with (deja vu more revealing) because fans pushed him.... they didn't even push moa for a DAESANG😢🤬 me and my friend moa just want them to be happy and comfortable. And daesang.... hope they won't lose fans for this break 😢 though as an army, a break would be good fandom cleansing.... but daesang ...
