It makes perfect sense to teach history and geography together! It would connect so many dots. What a great idea.

This was so interesting and cool to see! I just love how you included us on this process, and was willing to show us all the detailed work that goes into your planning system for the school year. I absolutely loved it!!
I love the idea for the bell schedules!! I'm an elementary teacher and even I struggle to use those front pages. Classroom volunteers aren't really a big deal at my school so I've never felt like I needed a whole section dedicated to them.
On those beginning pages here are the ideas I have so far for mine:
1. Bell Schedules (we usually have 3 plus a tech center one)
2. My Daily Schedule (this would be what classes I teach, my planning, etc)
3. Routines (Daily and Monthly...I keep a check off list)
I’ve also got ideas for a pd log, time worked out of contract log, emergency plans, personal/sick leave log, and chrome book numbers.
But I’m not doing anything until we figure out what we are doing. At this point I know my division is planning for big changes.
Love this. We had to put our plans on the computer. I would love to have had something like this for my hard copy.
Front page: duty weeks, phone extensions... that’s what I have right now
Also keep track of sick days, professional days, pd hours
For the "Resources" and "Passwords" boxes i usually put the guidance alpha break down and the AP alpha break down. On the "Volunteers" page i tape the bell schedule print out since we have multiple bell schedules and the handout they give us covers all of that stuff. I recently saw another teacher re-purpose the "Contact" page with major works that they used. She changed the "Date" column to "Unit", "Name" was the title of the book / poem / short story and "Reason" were the skills that each work focused on. I thought that was pretty clever
Honestly, I usually glue the first two pages together! I might try to repurpose them and might track PD and my personal/sick days used.
I’ve always wanted customized stickers. We don’t ever know what grade level or how many levels of English we will be getting until right before school starts. Then I get so busy, I forget to order them. I love your setup. Thank you for sharing!
If it helps, I use the communication log as a professional development log.
I use a google form for that but that’s a great idea!
Your planner looks so pretty and functional at the same time, when mine looks nice it never seems to be functional anymore. I was wondering how old are the kids you are teaching? You've said in which grade they are but we have a very different system here in the Netherlands so I actually have no idea how old they are :,)
They are about 15-16!
Thank you for sharing as always :) I like the bold color theme that you're going for this year with the Retro! I miss the monthly pages from last year's EC teacher planner with the color themes. I feel like it's so much more subtle this year.
When I went to school in Rhode Island we had World History part 1 in 7th grade and part 2 in 9th grade. I was so lucky that my honors world history in 9th grade was taught by a teacher who was an anthropologist by training so it was one of the best classes I had ever had in high school.

For the first two pages, I would put things like administrator responsibilities (ours have specific subject domains and parts of the alphabet), days of the week different support personnel come in (like the nurse, the social worker, etc.).
I love watching your teacher planner setup. I’m going into my 2nd year as a high school math teacher, but this is the first year I will be using an Erin Condren Teacher Planner. But you always give me so many ideas when you setup your teacher planner.
Also, in November you accidentally placed Election Day on Wednesday the 4th instead of Tuesday the 3rd, just wanted you to know just in case it was a mistake.

I put our bell schedules in the two boxes at the bottom of the title page where it says resources and passwords. Then, I use the boxes on the next page to list report card dates and other major school academic events like testing.

I’m not a teacher but I really wanted to see the layout. It would be nice for a work only planner for any job.
I use the front page rectangles to keep track of student numbers for each class for printing purposes. I basically turn to that to know how many copies to makes when ordering for multiple classes. I write the actual number on flags, since they change all the time. I hate going into aeries to check every time I place an order, and I have a horrible memory and can't keep 6 classes' numbers straight! lol.
The other rectangle I use to write down the google classroom code for each student. I post this on my wall at school, but it is there in just in case, and really to fill up space. .. I did use it a couple of times, though.

I use my communication log as a detention log. We have a series of detention progressions (10-muinutes after school for minor things, then after 3 they get thursday detention, then after 3 they get saturday detention). We do log in our LMS, however, sometimes I cannot log on to record right away.
We use an online system for that but that’s a great idea!!
My school ha barely told us anything about this coming school year. We are scheduled to return to on campus classes in mid August, but they are also allowing students to do online school from home if the parents want that. I love your videos, and I just bought my first EC planner.

Every week, there’s a new decision overriding the previous one. I’m not one to just roll with it so yes, it’s driving me crazy!

Everything they’ve released has been obvious no duh things like requiring masks. 5 of our football players tested positive yesterday plus another 13 staff or something. they’re still planning on the season starting in a month and a half 🙄

Taylor, I love watching your videos, and I also lived in TX for more than 20 years (when it was never close to “purple”). I also know you are passionate about the BLM movement and current state of inequality in this country. This video was likely filmed before the EC issue in Mira Costa CA. I am curious what your opinion of that situation is? How that impacts your opinion of EC and their products? And what you thought of her apology? I do not have IG, so if you discussed this that platform, I apologize for the repeat.

I will be taking a break from promoting Erin Condren for the time being. Maybe forever? I’m not sure yet. It depends on a lot of different factors.
I am extremely disappointed and even disgusted at what’s happened in the past few weeks. And today, I woke up fucking pissed off at how her individual actions are affecting others that she chose not to think about: the black commmunity, the planner community as a whole, her own community, planner shops, and people who have built their platforms around her products.
However, I want to make it clear that I will be taking a break from the company and promoting the products but not throwing away the products that I have recently purchased for this upcoming academic year. I am a teacher and have a single income. My YT income goes up and down but I never know what it will be. So I intentionally budget for planning products I buy, and I cannot afford to buy all new products at this time. I hope that you can respect this decision, but I reserve the right to change my mind with new knowledge.
I completely understand and respect if you choose to be done with the brand and throw away, donate, burn or otherwise dispose of your planners though. I won’t judge anyone for how they feel or what they do as I would hope people would do for me.
What I will be doing moving forward:
Removing my affiliate link and $10 off coupon link on my platforms
No brand hashtags in posts
No tagging
No mentioning of the brand here or on UA-cam
No feature videos
Covering logos and branding in stills and videos
I don’t feel comfortable supporting the brand until EC reconciles what has happened in a way that I find appropriate. And if she never does reconcile, I will look into a different brand as I move forward into 2021.
I want to keep producing content because I love my followers and the community I have built over the past four years. I don’t want to lose it or damage it, but I cannot promote EC products at this time.
This is very complicated and affects a lot of people. I will do my best to navigate it in a way that aligns with my conscience and values.
I believe people and companies can change. One of the reasons I became a teacher was because I love playing a role in the change that my students make as they grow and learn. But you have to play an active and sincere role in your own change. And I just haven’t seen it yet.

Princess AMA I did and people kept fighting in the comments, which is definitely what I don’t want. Everyone has their own opinion about it, and I respect them all but I don’t want people arguing when they won’t find common ground.
I am still in the same place. Taking a break from promoting and using some of the things I bought myself. If that changes, I will let y’all know in a community post. 💛
I’ll still be using the products that I bought. And if the company does right in the next year (no telling right now but who knows?) I may purchase things next year. Again, I don’t know what will happen with them, but I’m leaving the door open for the company to do what they say they’re going to do. If you don’t like where I’m coming from on it (no judgement at all - I respect everyone’s opinions about the situation), you might want to unsubscribe. I don’t want what I use to cause any negative feelings for anyone.
I teach high school English in Florida. I’m dying to set up my new planner, but am so hesitant with all the uncertainty of the upcoming school year. Were supposed to find out by July 1 so we’ll see....
I teach HS English in FL, too! And I'm on the same page--I'm setting up an EC Vertical Life Planner Binder as my teacher planner this year, but so much is unknown right now, so I haven't even started the actual setup. I have a lot of sticky notes that mark how I want to utilize different spaces, but I'm hesitant to put actual pen down.
Sarah Krause Awesome! I’m using a Classic Teacher Happy Planner again this year, but I love watching Erin Condren set ups. I bought the transparent dots for my calendar like Taylor did, but I’m afraid the 2020-2021 calendar will change as soon as I put the stickers down!

You mentioned in your last flip through about your codes for IEP/504... I know you can’t share exactly what your system is for that but could you touch on some of the things you make sure to include there?
If they have oral testing, need a copy of class notes, preferential seating, if they have extra time, have a BIP, etc. Also, there’s a spot for the general reminders they may have. It’s a table so it’s organized and I can find info fast. It doesn’t replace looking at their actual IEPs or 504 paperwork of course, but it’s a good reference if I just have a quick question. I’ve done it for years, and it’s super helpful!
I wish all of the communication was via email at the school I work at. 😂
It does make things easier!! My school is a little different and serves a specific community. (Sorry to be so vague but thought it might be helpful to know that.)

If u needed to add something to ur week and u dont have space what do u do the fact that EC is a ring bind that u cant add a page like Happy Planner.?
I always have enough room. In fact, sometimes I have too much room. I only like coiled planners. I can do rings (cant fold it over and write) or disks (the sound makes my skin crawl). It’s just personal preference and it works for me! 💛
