not really i use ironman alot.. the beam does way more damage than ur normal attack, the normal is really only for ppl really far or splashing around corners... the beam is really great for dueling when its charged u kill squishies with around 20ish ammo and can even catch tanks out without a healer
Yeah my first thought when I read the video title was "When I play Iron Man I become invisible to my teammates and every enemy can suddenly hit every single shot on a high-speed flying target." If he had more health I'd probably take more damage as Iron Man than I do as Captain America.
I will say is the positioning. Like he is pretty much front line and close to the tanks, not on the back flying 30 meters away. As a healer they are in the main vision field, close to the tanks and the team, like that is how and why its getting healed, the positioning is good.
At high rank levels the game becomes a resource-based game (ultis), so he focused on the easiest targets to target to quickly charge his ulti and be able to use it as many times as possible during the game.

I see why he uses the beam more, go back and watch his ult percentage go up fast when using the beam versus trying to hit with his left click. Its like super fast lol

It's very, very simple. In diamond+ lobbies, Hela and Hawkeye are perma-banned and they are the main characters that make Storm and Iron Man so bad. Black Widow can still be rough to go against but she's not 1/5th as oppressive as Hela or Hawk. Storm and Ironman are F-tier into Hela/Hawkeye (and they are played almost every game in ranks below diamond), but if you remove those two from the game they're actually very solid picks.
These are the types of reasons why buffs and nerfs should happen. One character being so good that another character is completely useless against them.

I was going to argue that we have other one shot ults in the game to counter her ult... But we honestly do not. Iron man, Magneto Thor and scarlet witch are basically the only ults that can legit stop a luna ult... That or use Jeff ult to carry her away, but can she be swallowed while ulting? I'm not even sure...
It happens very fast, but pretty sure he 'misses' his proton ult blast at 8:45 due to Magneto absorbing it with his ult (which has a property that sucks up enemy projectiles). Also, nice analysis & vid!

6:10 He's highly efficient in applying damage into the main lane of OBJ. from any flank position mostly vertical with an ideal approach. He's focusing frontline because its an easier target to hit while farming up his ultimate for multiple kill potential.
He focus a lot on the tanks because they are easier to hit and they have lots of health witch makes the perfect target to charge the ult... And he uses mainly the beam because it is easier to hit than the projectile!! 💪
Projectile also doesnt bring immediate value. Think sbout it, enemies are gonna be spread unlike lower ranks. And you have to shoot slowly. Rather than that, just unibeam everything and get immediate value is more threatening and worthwhile.

You'll notice that he he basically always plays iron man with the same hulk player that he's duoed with, *la kaya*. This is because with the hulks team up iron mans unibeam gets like a 25% damage bonus. It goes from 180 dps to 220 dps. It gives ironman ALOT more damage. Its a higher dps than punishers rifle. Basically turning iron man into a flying punisher.
I also noticed this guy, mainly due to the Magik profile icon which intrigued me. Yesterday he was top 4 now he's top 1, what a beast. I love his playstyle. It's very interesting to see how fun and dynamic the game is without Hela/Hawkeye in the picture.

If you feel like nobody is dying if you don't play Hela or Hawkeye, sorry to tell you, you're using a crutch. @IzmGunner01 You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Your statement is fine in a vacuum but isn't easy to pull off against opponents with any type of skill. Healers will be together at almost all points in the game and can thus heal other and often have good self peel on their own.
@tonysiouxfan Just hit diamond in the past couple hours and won my first couple games in diamond lobbies, majority of those games I somehow got to lock in dps and I was playing Ironman, winning against Helas and punisher while doing what I just described. Ignoring tanks when possible and hitting targets that matter. Stay hardstuck.

I think the most important aspect of this video is not the ironman play but rather the support that enables this guy to be so bold with his positioning, something really hard to find in random ranked hence why all other ironmans just stay at a distance
His support is huge but I think his positioning is what sets him up for success rather than the heals themselves. Notice every time he gets low on HP he’s super close to cover; he’s hardly ever caught out in the open. Whereas most players in general don’t use cover that often so once they get to critical hp theres nowhere to hide so even the best support can’t keep them up. Whereas with this guy, he’s already behind a wall by the time his hp is low
@@NalaBlep It's more about the supports positioning themselves in a way that they can see him. A lot of supports just push with the entire team not caring what's behind them and Iron Man just hovers slowly behind them and gets shot at by anyone and slowly dies due to zero healing coming his way.

The easy answer is because he queues with a hulk player so he always has the team up which makes his unibeam actually have some of the highest DPS In the entire game and since hela and Hawkeye are permabanned in diamond and above he doesn’t have to worry about too much pressure and no one in diamond or above (other than necros) plays Spider-Man to counter him well enough so of course iron man has free reign
The thing I’ve learned to take advantage of is if you’re positioned right then you’re either splitting the enemy team’s attention or taking it completely. Either way, if your team notices and dives at that time it’s usually enough to get the point. If none of that happens attack the healers.
Because Hela/Hawk are out of the picture, we can play fun "non-meta" heroes like Magik relatively normally! It's very fun in fact in diamond + almost everyone is viable even Wolverine, Hulk, Storm, simply because we don't get oneshot by Hela/Hawk
Ironman kinda is very bad Its Just that his best counter hawkeye hela and Punisher are extraordinarly strong and can be banned in high elo also its like the only guy to do that check the rest of top 10 for example hes not played there and this guy still does play magik more than iron man and also hes got a good comp for that hulk+mantis for insane damage boost its not that ironman is so strong by himself there are multiple factors working in his favour here
Kac already said it. It's a good comp and map for him. A lot of the time, the enemy team is forced to take fights in small corridors that block line of sight from iron man. Same thing happens in games like overwatch with sym, torb, etc

The reason he's using his laser way more often is because in this instance he's going for dps. It's been most important for the objective so far. Might also just be his playstyle, with cannon you need to anticipate movement but at certain ranges you can be anticipated at a disadvantage. Laser can not be anticipated
I think a big advantage he has is that you dont think about him until he is shooting you and tanks can't hit him easily or at all. As long as he shoots tanks who cant shoot back and forces them off point the rest of his team can clean up and control space. One of the most annoying characters as peni is a decent iron man, her shots are just to slow to hit him consistently
Yeah, he's only 'low-tier' because the by far highest-tier, most-popular damage dealers counter him hard, when they're banned in high level play he's great and very few heroes OUTSIDE of those two can really threaten him heavily if he's played well
The only good thing I noticed here was the up and down (strafe) movement, as people don't expect to aim like that, besides that he was the only dps with 3 healers needed to keep him alive. Ironman gets the most value if you position yourself in ways to assist in target focus, with you not being the target your "kill"target is engaging, make it so you become an unknown dmg source for the target you want to kill.
His goal seems to be to not actually deal the killing blows since as soon as someone dies to iron man they make it their mission to hunt down iron man, but iron man just weakens everyone and the other characters get the kills then the enemy team just kind of forgets he's there.
He was literally mvp in scoreboard and he also focus in free kills like when strange ult enemy back line, and he would lost if dont get any final hit because thats is very important specially in high elo
About the healing, my theory is that he always has Luna Snow's thingy so that she doesn't have to go insane looking up and trying to figure out his location to heal him. She just heals the rest of the team and redirects those heals to him.

I looked into Healis (He streams) and he is part of a clan called "Sol Deus" and they seams to have alot of top players, they have Nevix who was rank 1 earlier and also Lindstrom who was rank 7 and more players in top 500.
Another thing you see him doing a lot that too few people do in the lower elos is focusing on the objects of enemies. Such as walls, rocket raccoon ult, punisher ult etc.... Like he constantly was destroying the walls, I always do the same as DPS for an enemy Groot but all too often my allies just ignore ankhs, walls, raccoon ult or run for cover with punisher ult and don't shoot him. Same for Scarlet Witch ult like you are meant to focus her not run away
As an ironman player. He is playing with a stacked team to support him. Hulk for damage, and the chest beam got buffed last patch. When you have 3 healers with a ironman that can shred through tanks. It's ez gaming. Just comes down to positioning.
1. Push from behind cover, ideally at Unibeam range, especially with armor boost. Stay low while pushing behind your team. 2. Missiles arent that useful, regular blasts are okay for long range pokes, but a Powered up Unibeam is king. 3. Corner camp from the opponents side of the room, high angle, on a successful push 4. Boost away to disengage, use unpredictable wiggling to throw off enemy aim and fly from behind/next to cover for as long as possible
i would like to see how other maps that this guy plays on, i think the maps showcased in this video are defintely the stronger iron maps since there is so much cover and elevation for the players to account for.
I've been using Ironman's unibeam a lot on tanks, it absolutely shreds tanks thanks to its high ammo and dps. Suprised he's not throwing out more rockets, imo rockets have a very high skill cap that could make for some great moments.
first minute into the video, we're not talking about how he repositioned for that iron man ult so he wasn't shot at. That would've been a good point to bring up.
Honestly Ironman is pretty underrated. He has some pretty solid pressure on tanks or targets that are getting hard pocketed. The uni beam in overdrive can be really deadly. I noticed he never does this but if you use the rockets in overdrive right before it ends you can get some free dmg to farm ult faster.
That’s crazy I just started playing like this over the weekend. Definitely been dominating. But you’ll need a good strategist on your team. Most of the time they only focus the vanguards which is annoying.
Repulsor's damage requires direct hits, the explosion alone is just half the damage. Beam has a lot more damage as well. What's really setting him apart other than just positioning is his micro movement. When he's peeking he goes up and down as well, my hand hurts looking at it. Also Ironman's missiles is janky in either modes it can be launched from, it's there as a bonus but it's just as easily forgettable.
Using just the beam actually goes crazy and kind of changes my opinion of Iron Man Even without being powered up it does kind of a crazy amount of damage
i think you should start to reflect and interpret the actions more, all you do is mainly describing the actions seen, but missing out the "why's" and the big picture here (i apologize in advance, as a non nativespeaker if my wording sounds harsh or offensive i don't mean it - just want to be straight on point) what we can take away here is - know your role. play as conservitive and efficient as possible. focus on your strenghts and try to negate your weaknesses. for Iron Man we have: #1 your ulti is your best tool - charge it as fast as possible, done so by using beam --> beam easy targets such as tanks and frontline as they run at you naturally what increases your beam uptime #2 don't die - be a hard target, by huging obstacles and avoid easy line of sight (so you dont waste time being dead and not charging ulti) #3 use ulti for valuable targets like healer and multi kills. --> effectivly achieved by #1 + #2 you say he's playing iron man as a "normal/non flying" character, thats actually not the case. the reason he's low above ground is the level architecture. the hallway and low ceiling blocks line of sight so he can/must stay near groundlevel to beam a way. the closer the enemies come next to the objective into the open room he starts raising his elevation too. all he does is what i wrote above - building fast ulti the most efficient way possible. :) always a good thing looking what the best of the best do - only problem is the perception of the gameplan strongly differs within the ranked brackets. i guess you should be looking for a tactic that surpasses those perceptions and thus result in faster/easier/better climbs due to strong impact keep up the good work
Wholeheartedly agreed. Incredibly poor analysis on the commentator's part, you'd be better off just watching Healis' own uploads instead of giving this guy views. I can't believe he didn't even comment on the repositioning before the ult at 1:18 which was what allowed the ult to work in the first place. Just pointing out what's already evident i.e. "kills Luna through her ult", "uses movement to throw off enemy aim", sometimes misses the point entirely as you pointed out with the whole "playing like a grounded character" thing. This isn't gameplay analysis, it's gameplay narration.

He's usually only using his ULT on one or two opponents and not the group because of the presence of Dr Strange and Magneto using shields that could nullify it.
11:16 There are actually 2 attacks that I know of that are similar to Iron Man's: Cloak's basic attack and Wanda's basic attack. The difference between the three is Wanda = no aim required, Cloak = some aim required, Iron Man = aim required.
at 3:34 he is not running back to the Luna ult to make sure he does not die, that is the enemy Luna. He gets healed by someone else. Granted I think he thought it was his teammate in the heat of battle.
As others said, the unibeam boosted with the hulk is so much damage, and the reason he is using uni beam so much IMO is just look at the ult % go up, he is not trying to kill the tanks or anything he is building ult as fast as he can with the beam
ngl i also play ironman pretty low and aggressive. Only flying away or high when needed. His beam is his BEST damage imo. It lasts a long time, does great damage to tanks, and melts dps/support. Of course it’s super important to play cover well cuz he’s so squishy.
Just had a thought. He's going for Groot because he knows he can't get any kills, so he's putting pressure on the tank while building ultimate. Only time he targets someone else is to score a kill or push someone away. Why he targets tanks is probably because of their size. Easier to hit Groot out of everyone else, so might as well build ultimate while being useless, all the while he positions himself to get an excellent view of the map and get a nice corner to peek from. This Iron Man knows when to engage and pull out too. And he tends to prioritize hitscan heroes too if he does go in for the kill, namely Punisher. He's building ultimate for Luna Snow or a beefy kill streak, and keeping everyone else in check by harassing the tank to discourage him from pushing in too far. That's what I am seeing from this
Ironmans unibeam has a surprisingly high range. And stacks a lot of damage quickly. The aoe of his repulsor blasts only deals as much as a melee attack.
iron man is pretty good into the big sustain comps bcz of his high poke and AOE damage. the biggest reason why iron man is working is bcz hawkeye and hela are banned. if they weren’t he would just be playing hela
Hela and Hawkey need LOS but he has always positioning to cut off LOS on those heroes, the only ones with LOS on him are tanks but tanks suck at dealing with flying heroes, and he destroy/farm them with beam. Dude playing Ironman like i was already playing it, beam is his main damage output rockets are only here to kill low hp heroes out of range of his beam or spam close chokes to put pressure.

Whoa I’ve seen a lot of people play Ironman just floating and spamming. So easy to snipe them. This kind of Iron Man play shows me the light. The big question is can we get away with this in solo queue without a support keeping us up being that aggro. Time to find out.
11:20 Scarlet Witch primary is another "laser". Both go through Magneto ult's protective shield, I believe. (Don't remember if those are the only two.)
I was saying since the start if people play iron man like a good pharah plays angles and cover and flanks with height iron man can do a lot. He can also 1 shot the 2 defensive ults in the game making them useless.
Exactly i played him like he does because my self i was a hitscan main and Pharah was my most played non hitscan hero. Cover and positioning is king with flying heroes, you have the LOS advantage, you can zone out wihtout LOS with rockets while evey hero good against you needs LOS. He plays the way Pharah/Echo play in GM lobbies.
I definitely think this archetype needs to be done more in this game. Like falcon would seem like a cool character to add And vision as well. Honestly if they make more characters I don’t see this game dying off anytime soon
2 things. 1, Diamond bans so hela and Hawkeye being out of the picture make it way easier. 2, he has REALLY good supports, without their constant healing of him he would have died so many times
The left click attack kills 250hp characters in 3 hits but has to be direct. That's really hard to do especially because it has a really slow fire rate and projectile speed people get healed in between hits. It's only really good if they're bunched up or in tight corridors. Right click should always be the default attack you use
Idk how many times iron man changes the game for me when blasting snow or the racoon with a ultimate, one of the game changer moves just like a good jeff with a ultimate on everyone inside the conquest zone at the last minute.
I'm a noob at the game but the laser beam obviously recharges his ult like 5 times faster than normal. Also staying closer to the ground early games allows him to get consistent heals etc.
IF you are wondering why he is playing Iron Man to begin with it is because of the Team-Up bonus damage he gets with the lazer with Hulk. Also If you are wondering why he is focusing the groot it is because hes farming his ult off him. The constant damage builds ult faster.
A pro ironman rotates between the 2. Unibeam laser brings more value if you want to kill someone fast. But you need to be very disciplined in positioning and timing. Because you cant turn around to see whats at the flanks. Team help is important
Yeah i played my first game of iron man after assuming the character was trash for the longest time. Its just the players. Played like this and just dropped back to back 30 bombs. Its the kind of thing players wont catch onto until they see the pros start to move like this

1:22 this right here is why. Healing is OP in this game. Luna Snow Ult is basically invuln for 12 seconds. Iron Man is basically the only counter.
Yeah they need to tone down the amount of heals. Luna and Mantis ults are also way too powerful and need changes/nerfs.
There's several things that kill her out of it, Naymors whale can etc, but yeah. Actually insane the value the big 3 healing ults provide

Magneto is when it's good it's so god-like. 5 sec inv is op as hell. And the pub stupid magneto is keeping doming me with ult.
Punisher ult i think is the only one that can kill magnetos ult before he throws it.

He focus a lot on the tanks because they are easier to hit and they have lots of health witch makes the perfect target to charge the ult... And he uses mainly the beam because it is easier to hit than the projectile!! 💪
Projectile also doesnt bring immediate value. Think sbout it, enemies are gonna be spread unlike lower ranks. And you have to shoot slowly. Rather than that, just unibeam everything and get immediate value is more threatening and worthwhile.
Also think Ironman is just getting a lot of potential value killing Luna through her ult with his if she is on the board.

You'll notice that he he basically always plays iron man with the same hulk player that he's duoed with, *la kaya*. This is because with the hulks team up iron mans unibeam gets like a 25% damage bonus. It goes from 180 dps to 220 dps. It gives ironman ALOT more damage. Its a higher dps than punishers rifle. Basically turning iron man into a flying punisher.
I also noticed this guy, mainly due to the Magik profile icon which intrigued me. Yesterday he was top 4 now he's top 1, what a beast. I love his playstyle. It's very interesting to see how fun and dynamic the game is without Hela/Hawkeye in the picture.
A bjg reason Hawkeye and Hela are so prominent is the healing is drastically overturned.

@IzmGunner01 You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Your statement is fine in a vacuum but isn't easy to pull off against opponents with any type of skill. Healers will be together at almost all points in the game and can thus heal other and often have good self peel on their own.
@tonysiouxfan Just hit diamond in the past couple hours and won my first couple games in diamond lobbies, majority of those games I somehow got to lock in dps and I was playing Ironman, winning against Helas and punisher while doing what I just described. Ignoring tanks when possible and hitting targets that matter. Stay hardstuck.

I think the most important aspect of this video is not the ironman play but rather the support that enables this guy to be so bold with his positioning, something really hard to find in random ranked hence why all other ironmans just stay at a distance
Yea he got the heals of a lifetime. I never get any heals on iron man. Supports rarely look up
His support is huge but I think his positioning is what sets him up for success rather than the heals themselves. Notice every time he gets low on HP he’s super close to cover; he’s hardly ever caught out in the open. Whereas most players in general don’t use cover that often so once they get to critical hp theres nowhere to hide so even the best support can’t keep them up. Whereas with this guy, he’s already behind a wall by the time his hp is low
@@NalaBlep It's more about the supports positioning themselves in a way that they can see him. A lot of supports just push with the entire team not caring what's behind them and Iron Man just hovers slowly behind them and gets shot at by anyone and slowly dies due to zero healing coming his way.
Most people who play healer in quick play or low level rank, only heal the person right in front of them
@@merc9nine As much as it's not an optimal situation to be in, I will say that there's something particularly thrilling about playing as Mantis on quickplay and having to constantly run around the entire map spamming healing like a coke fiend because your group has no cohesion and is completely spread out.

The easy answer is because he queues with a hulk player so he always has the team up which makes his unibeam actually have some of the highest DPS In the entire game and since hela and Hawkeye are permabanned in diamond and above he doesn’t have to worry about too much pressure and no one in diamond or above (other than necros) plays Spider-Man to counter him well enough so of course iron man has free reign
With the way he's playing ironman a Spiderman wouldnt even counter him, he's always close to his tanks and supports are always watching him.

The thing I’ve learned to take advantage of is if you’re positioned right then you’re either splitting the enemy team’s attention or taking it completely. Either way, if your team notices and dives at that time it’s usually enough to get the point. If none of that happens attack the healers.

Because Hela/Hawk are out of the picture, we can play fun "non-meta" heroes like Magik relatively normally! It's very fun in fact in diamond + almost everyone is viable even Wolverine, Hulk, Storm, simply because we don't get oneshot by Hela/Hawk

Its Just that his best counter hawkeye hela and Punisher are extraordinarly strong and can be banned in high elo also its like the only guy to do that check the rest of top 10 for example hes not played there and this guy still does play magik more than iron man and also hes got a good comp for that hulk+mantis for insane damage boost its not that ironman is so strong by himself there are multiple factors working in his favour here
Kac already said it. It's a good comp and map for him. A lot of the time, the enemy team is forced to take fights in small corridors that block line of sight from iron man. Same thing happens in games like overwatch with sym, torb, etc

The reason he's using his laser way more often is because in this instance he's going for dps. It's been most important for the objective so far. Might also just be his playstyle, with cannon you need to anticipate movement but at certain ranges you can be anticipated at a disadvantage. Laser can not be anticipated
I think a big advantage he has is that you dont think about him until he is shooting you and tanks can't hit him easily or at all. As long as he shoots tanks who cant shoot back and forces them off point the rest of his team can clean up and control space. One of the most annoying characters as peni is a decent iron man, her shots are just to slow to hit him consistently
Yeah, he's only 'low-tier' because the by far highest-tier, most-popular damage dealers counter him hard, when they're banned in high level play he's great and very few heroes OUTSIDE of those two can really threaten him heavily if he's played well
as an iron man player, i swear by the unibeam, but i gotta try out that wall hugging strat. I usually gave away my position a lot by doing the laser
The only good thing I noticed here was the up and down (strafe) movement, as people don't expect to aim like that, besides that he was the only dps with 3 healers needed to keep him alive. Ironman gets the most value if you position yourself in ways to assist in target focus, with you not being the target your "kill"target is engaging, make it so you become an unknown dmg source for the target you want to kill.
His goal seems to be to not actually deal the killing blows since as soon as someone dies to iron man they make it their mission to hunt down iron man, but iron man just weakens everyone and the other characters get the kills then the enemy team just kind of forgets he's there.
Uhhhh no he's literally just farming ult, he isn't trying to not last it.
He was literally mvp in scoreboard and he also focus in free kills like when strange ult enemy back line, and he would lost if dont get any final hit because thats is very important specially in high elo
Brother this is the highest ranks on the game, not silver, the enemies are going to be aware of the ironman regardless if he lands the killing blow.
About the healing, my theory is that he always has Luna Snow's thingy so that she doesn't have to go insane looking up and trying to figure out his location to heal him. She just heals the rest of the team and redirects those heals to him.
Just wanna say bc of your analysis of this iron mam it helped me get to plat3 in 1 day. Crazy thing is that playing iron man i learning more about positioning helped me across the board with all chars i use. Ty!

I looked into Healis (He streams) and he is part of a clan called "Sol Deus" and they seams to have alot of top players, they have Nevix who was rank 1 earlier and also Lindstrom who was rank 7 and more players in top 500.
I feel like he is very reliant on the team from Hulk but that's fine because he shreds people. His map awareness and instincts are also so strong.
He is just reliant on his team and shredding tanks, anybody could do this if they had good supports and perma hulk team up
Another thing you see him doing a lot that too few people do in the lower elos is focusing on the objects of enemies. Such as walls, rocket raccoon ult, punisher ult etc....
Like he constantly was destroying the walls, I always do the same as DPS for an enemy Groot but all too often my allies just ignore ankhs, walls, raccoon ult or run for cover with punisher ult and don't shoot him. Same for Scarlet Witch ult like you are meant to focus her not run away
As an ironman player. He is playing with a stacked team to support him. Hulk for damage, and the chest beam got buffed last patch. When you have 3 healers with a ironman that can shred through tanks. It's ez gaming. Just comes down to positioning.

This is really cool to see as an iron man main
1. Push from behind cover, ideally at Unibeam range, especially with armor boost. Stay low while pushing behind your team.
2. Missiles arent that useful, regular blasts are okay for long range pokes, but a Powered up Unibeam is king.
3. Corner camp from the opponents side of the room, high angle, on a successful push
4. Boost away to disengage, use unpredictable wiggling to throw off enemy aim and fly from behind/next to cover for as long as possible
It looks like hes going where the biggest or most valued fights are occurring and applying pressure to those fights.

i would like to see how other maps that this guy plays on, i think the maps showcased in this video are defintely the stronger iron maps since there is so much cover and elevation for the players to account for.
I've been using Ironman's unibeam a lot on tanks, it absolutely shreds tanks thanks to its high ammo and dps.
Suprised he's not throwing out more rockets, imo rockets have a very high skill cap that could make for some great moments.

As an Ironman main, beam is underrated. Range combat is a plus but getting up close and personal when possible is deadly

Mags ult eats projectiles and becomes stronger the more projectiles it absorbs

Hes hitting Groot/tanks so much because its there, easy to hit and builds ult extremely fast. His style is, build ult, use ult, repeat.
Man, healers at this level are crazy. They truly enable everyone else to get value.
Honestly Ironman is pretty underrated. He has some pretty solid pressure on tanks or targets that are getting hard pocketed. The uni beam in overdrive can be really deadly. I noticed he never does this but if you use the rockets in overdrive right before it ends you can get some free dmg to farm ult faster.
That’s crazy I just started playing like this over the weekend. Definitely been dominating. But you’ll need a good strategist on your team. Most of the time they only focus the vanguards which is annoying.
Repulsor's damage requires direct hits, the explosion alone is just half the damage. Beam has a lot more damage as well. What's really setting him apart other than just positioning is his micro movement. When he's peeking he goes up and down as well, my hand hurts looking at it. Also Ironman's missiles is janky in either modes it can be launched from, it's there as a bonus but it's just as easily forgettable.
Using just the beam actually goes crazy and kind of changes my opinion of Iron Man Even without being powered up it does kind of a crazy amount of damage

i think you should start to reflect and interpret the actions more, all you do is mainly describing the actions seen, but missing out the "why's" and the big picture here (i apologize in advance, as a non nativespeaker if my wording sounds harsh or offensive i don't mean it - just want to be straight on point)
what we can take away here is - know your role. play as conservitive and efficient as possible. focus on your strenghts and try to negate your weaknesses.
for Iron Man we have:
#1 your ulti is your best tool - charge it as fast as possible, done so by using beam --> beam easy targets such as tanks and frontline as they run at you naturally what increases your beam uptime
#2 don't die - be a hard target, by huging obstacles and avoid easy line of sight (so you dont waste time being dead and not charging ulti)
#3 use ulti for valuable targets like healer and multi kills. --> effectivly achieved by #1 + #2
you say he's playing iron man as a "normal/non flying" character, thats actually not the case. the reason he's low above ground is the level architecture. the hallway and low ceiling blocks line of sight so he can/must stay near groundlevel to beam a way. the closer the enemies come next to the objective into the open room he starts raising his elevation too. all he does is what i wrote above - building fast ulti the most efficient way possible. :)
always a good thing looking what the best of the best do - only problem is the perception of the gameplan strongly differs within the ranked brackets.
i guess you should be looking for a tactic that surpasses those perceptions and thus result in faster/easier/better climbs due to strong impact

Wholeheartedly agreed. Incredibly poor analysis on the commentator's part, you'd be better off just watching Healis' own uploads instead of giving this guy views. I can't believe he didn't even comment on the repositioning before the ult at 1:18 which was what allowed the ult to work in the first place. Just pointing out what's already evident i.e. "kills Luna through her ult", "uses movement to throw off enemy aim", sometimes misses the point entirely as you pointed out with the whole "playing like a grounded character" thing. This isn't gameplay analysis, it's gameplay narration.
The beam charges his ulti much faster than his blasts, I never noticed that before
i know healis, nevix and lindstrom, ive been in a vc with them and theyve all played a game i love called dark and darker, and they were #1 there too, these guys are serious gamers
He's usually only using his ULT on one or two opponents and not the group because of the presence of Dr Strange and Magneto using shields that could nullify it.
11:16 There are actually 2 attacks that I know of that are similar to Iron Man's: Cloak's basic attack and Wanda's basic attack. The difference between the three is Wanda = no aim required, Cloak = some aim required, Iron Man = aim required.
Iron man + Hulk bonus makes sense, so strong for no reason and i assume he plays in stacks so he always has it
at 3:34 he is not running back to the Luna ult to make sure he does not die, that is the enemy Luna. He gets healed by someone else. Granted I think he thought it was his teammate in the heat of battle.
As others said, the unibeam boosted with the hulk is so much damage, and the reason he is using uni beam so much IMO is just look at the ult % go up, he is not trying to kill the tanks or anything he is building ult as fast as he can with the beam

ngl i also play ironman pretty low and aggressive. Only flying away or high when needed. His beam is his BEST damage imo. It lasts a long time, does great damage to tanks, and melts dps/support. Of course it’s super important to play cover well cuz he’s so squishy.
Just had a thought. He's going for Groot because he knows he can't get any kills, so he's putting pressure on the tank while building ultimate. Only time he targets someone else is to score a kill or push someone away.
Why he targets tanks is probably because of their size. Easier to hit Groot out of everyone else, so might as well build ultimate while being useless, all the while he positions himself to get an excellent view of the map and get a nice corner to peek from. This Iron Man knows when to engage and pull out too. And he tends to prioritize hitscan heroes too if he does go in for the kill, namely Punisher.
He's building ultimate for Luna Snow or a beefy kill streak, and keeping everyone else in check by harassing the tank to discourage him from pushing in too far.
That's what I am seeing from this
Ironmans unibeam has a surprisingly high range. And stacks a lot of damage quickly. The aoe of his repulsor blasts only deals as much as a melee attack.
The difference is that in this level of play, people go for 3 healers and no hawkeyes
iron man is pretty good into the big sustain comps bcz of his high poke and AOE damage. the biggest reason why iron man is working is bcz hawkeye and hela are banned. if they weren’t he would just be playing hela
Hela and Hawkey need LOS but he has always positioning to cut off LOS on those heroes, the only ones with LOS on him are tanks but tanks suck at dealing with flying heroes, and he destroy/farm them with beam.
Dude playing Ironman like i was already playing it, beam is his main damage output rockets are only here to kill low hp heroes out of range of his beam or spam close chokes to put pressure.

I was saying since the start if people play iron man like a good pharah plays angles and cover and flanks with height iron man can do a lot. He can also 1 shot the 2 defensive ults in the game making them useless.
Exactly i played him like he does because my self i was a hitscan main and Pharah was my most played non hitscan hero. Cover and positioning is king with flying heroes, you have the LOS advantage, you can zone out wihtout LOS with rockets while evey hero good against you needs LOS. He plays the way Pharah/Echo play in GM lobbies.

2 things. 1, Diamond bans so hela and Hawkeye being out of the picture make it way easier. 2, he has REALLY good supports, without their constant healing of him he would have died so many times
The left click attack kills 250hp characters in 3 hits but has to be direct. That's really hard to do especially because it has a really slow fire rate and projectile speed people get healed in between hits. It's only really good if they're bunched up or in tight corridors. Right click should always be the default attack you use
Idk how many times iron man changes the game for me when blasting snow or the racoon with a ultimate, one of the game changer moves just like a good jeff with a ultimate on everyone inside the conquest zone at the last minute.

I'm a noob at the game but the laser beam obviously recharges his ult like 5 times faster than normal. Also staying closer to the ground early games allows him to get consistent heals etc.
IF you are wondering why he is playing Iron Man to begin with it is because of the Team-Up bonus damage he gets with the lazer with Hulk. Also If you are wondering why he is focusing the groot it is because hes farming his ult off him. The constant damage builds ult faster.

I swear I watched a Ironman guide that said to not use laser because it requires you to be frontline and to use Primary fire from the backline.
A pro ironman rotates between the 2. Unibeam laser brings more value if you want to kill someone fast. But you need to be very disciplined in positioning and timing. Because you cant turn around to see whats at the flanks. Team help is important
