Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 кві 2020
- Part 1 of an in depth unedited interview with Eric Mason. Filmed in 2003 Liam Galvin & Yvette Rowland spent a day filming the legendary criminal & in this part he talks about approved school, remand homes, borstal, the cat of nine tails, hijacking a lorry, beatings in prison & shoving a bucket of s*it over the infamous Governor Lawton. A unique look at a bygone era of brutal crime

Yes this is an absolutely enthralling interview with this articulate ex criminal. Unlike many similar gangsters of that era Mason tells it like it was without glamourising or embroidering the story.
What a man. Hardly ever blinks, the sign of someone who has been to very dark places. Un-breakable. Immensely tough, possessing strong character. The last of a breed of real men. R.I.P.
Absolutely fantastic interview, many of these business men who dealt in crime are dropping off the perch which is sad really because that old world is disappearing, most of them were what I can tell were mannered gentlemen in there own way, and very straight talking an honest. The streets of London these days are being replaced with what can be described as Vile and very unpalatable. Great interview thanks for making it available, I really enjoyed it immensely. Got any more??
Albert Reading is an interesting one...ua-cam.com/video/bXwIgz0maOk/v-deo.html - there are quite a few old school interviews on this channel - cheers
I was away with Eric in 1986 / 1987 in kirkham open prison what a lovely fella he was to talk too rip Eric 🙏
This oral interview with Eric Mason is an important oral history archive pertaining to post-war penal institutions. I am very interested in the functioning of the prison regimes. I like Erics manner and its is fascinating and his courage in opening up about his flogging.
Yes it was a few years ago - Eric is no longer with us - but his book 'The Brutal Truth' is an interesting read - all the best
@@LiamGalvinFilm Thank you for your message. I shall certainly acquire a copy of the book. I would have liked to have met him - he lived through interesting times I think he had been birched several times prior to the flogging with the cat - the latter must have been a terrible ordeal.
Could you ask the Blundell brothers, Billy and Eddie, if they'd do an in-depth interview Liam? That would be great, they have so much charisma and are so interesting. Maybe they would show you around the places, like in Ilford where the shootout happened outside their minicab office and The Room At The Top nightclub etc?
That's a great idea - I would love to do that - will see how I get on - cheers
Such a lovely memory :)
Good this is 🙏
I grew up with his son Michael who’s not longer with us god bless them both
the rumbling tube trains above are making me nervous lad. seriously though, love the fact he got a revenge of sorts in the end on that fascist prison governor, Lorcan. u can just imagine wot it wouldve been like in those borstals back in the day - Scum got it right
Seems so much less pain and distress to just aquicece...
Serious fella.
So it seems that despite the terrible cat of 9 tails assault Mason did not learn a lesson but continued to offend ? Am I correct??
Good on you for what you did to the scumbag of a governor I take my hat off to you legend
Seem nice bloke eric rip 🙏
