I just purchased the ET-8550 today after my Epson Stylus Photo R2000 bit the dust after 12 long years. I want to make sure I don't miss anything w/setup, as some reviews suggest using the Smart Panel App to do the install. Your video was thorough, to the point and of great education before I open the box in the next few days. This was the absolute best video. Fantastic Unboxing and setup video. I feel you on the hidden tape LOL. Just when you think you've got them all you find another - and then another on the SIDE of the print tray! Really appreciated having teh example of loading a 13x19 paper in the rear tray.
Just ordered this printer to replace my beloved 20 year old Epson 2200. What a great printer that has been, but print head finally gave up after my final 13x19 print. Looking forward to how well 8550 will compare to toutput quality of the 2200.
What do they mean by “select the pattern that shows no gap or dark line”? They all look the same to me, although #2 number 6 seems to go a pixel to the right

I wanted to begin printing my own photos, because I rarely did that when I used other services. Your instruction gave me the confidence I needed to make the attempt.
I received this as a Christmas present. I finally had time to watch a set up video and you are quite thorough. I feel more comfortable setting this up now, instead of waiting for my “Techie Grandson”. I would not destroy the box in case there’s something wrong with the printer, I ordered mine from B & H in NY. I never had an issue with them and the printer came very well packed. BTW, I get no money from B& H for stating this, I just believe in good value for the money and they had the better price. Thank you for your time.
10:51 I pressed start before filling up all inks now it prints only in black since it was the only one i filled before processing to the initialization and i can't go back to this step. and printing is brand new :(
@McazO7 you can always go into settings and refill the ink and set the levels on the printer. Then do test prints or head cleaning to get the ink primed
I felt this same way with my prior printer an Epson Artisan 725, in the United States this model was sold in both the color "black" and in the color "white". Selected the "white" version because, at the time, I was pairing it with a glossy white 24-inch iMac (smile...smile).

All printers should have EcoTank and reasonably priced inks. That would promote the sale of paper new printers and all other printing and framing supplies.
Im curious if this printer would be good for my carpet cleaning business... I want to print out brochures, business cards and flyers, for when we need them. I hate sending these orders out, when i can do them myself.
You could print all those things with this printer just fine. Depending on how many of each you would want to do, it still may be more efficient to have a printing service do it.

Yes It will feed poster board from the back and will run heavy card stock one sheet at a time through the top load. I have vinyl on the list of things to try.
Look at the manual and remove the duplex module on the back, as if you wanted to print using the rear feeder. Then you have access to the module and can remove paper jams if it happens. It's pretty easy really.
I have a 1 year old print that I have on the wall that hasn't faded at all. Will colors fade? yes eventually. I would keep them out of sunlight to preserve your prints.
I bought the 15,000 and hate it. I have gotten two replacements and both didn’t print vibrant red on any paper. Have you had any issues? I’m using it for stickers and such with my siser Juliet cutting machine.
I haven't had a color issue with the things i have tried yet. I have some vinyl sticker paper that I plan to run through it and see how well it does. Ill post an update on it after I made some runs at it.
I bought the ET-8500 2 months ago, and printed about 500 pictures with it. I recommend doing another head alignment procedure after some use, after some running-in. I had to change the settings after 2 months of moderately intensive use. My prints are now perefct!
This was really helpful! I picked Swedish for my language, but I think some of the translations got mucked up because I could NOT figure out what they wanted me to do at 14:17... :( It only became clear when I saw the english version here as well as your demonstration. Thanks a lot! ❤
I purchased one on 12/22. After one year of very light use, the paper started jamming. First the photo paper from every cassette, then regular 8.5x11 plain paper jams. After a back and forth with Epson, they sent me a refurbished replacement. I just received it today and it doesn't print. I'm getting very impatient with Epson. Just remember to register your printer. If you don't, you only get one year of warranty. Registering it gives you 2 years. I also bought an additional 1-year replacement warranty. It looks like I will need it.
Epson is absolutely HORRIBLE with customer service. It seems they don’t stand behind their products. I’ve now had two replacements for my ET 15,000 and both didn’t work right. They refused to refund me or send a different product if I paid the difference. Thankfully the store I bought from is still taking the 15,000 back regardless of it not being the original and being past the return date (bought 60 days ago).
I haven't tested all the material I have wanted to test yet. I want to run vinyl through it next with a print and cut feature through cricut and see how that works. Maybe a 1 year?

No this is a one time ordeal, unless you travel with the machine to a different location, then I would recommend doing a print head alignment. I would recommend doing this after unboxing the printer then not worrying about it unless you have printing issues.
Ink lasts for *ages* in these printers. Printing the alignment patterns uses a very small amount of ink, you could do this hundreds and hundreds of times and be sick of it before you could see the ink go down because of it!
Hello, I am planning to print board game cards on this printer. Can you please tell me if you have experienced fading of the ink? How quickly will the pictures fade if they are exposed to the sun?
I haven't experienced this myself nor have I printed on card stock for trading cards. All my prints are indoors. If left outside for some time I would imagine you would get a bleaching or fading effect as I had this happen with sublimation ink.

i've tried that, it didn't work. Power clean solved the problem though i lost 15% of ink from each colors
I would make the suggestion to save the packing materials in case return is needed!

10:56 looks like the initialize does take quite a bit of ink for all colors...

The whole back piece will come off to clear any jams. I can do a quick video if I got time to

I'm not sure if the UK market has this color availble in the 220v plug. May just have to check around sites to see if anything is available to ship.

As far as ink goes, this isn't a drop in the bucket for these tank printers. They print thousands of pages
