  • We believe every car should have an aux input at minimum, no matter how old. BMW Stereos built before ~9/2002 don't have an OEM option for an aux input, but Quidzel's kit will get you a simple aux input through the CD changer connections, without running any wires from the trunk to the dash. Check us out at quidzel.com/aux

    Ok, I'm a 31 yr old woman who knows nothing about cars and I was able to accomplish this in under 1 hr not including the 1.5 hrs I spent looking for the tiny screw that fell on the side of my seat. If you're contemplating... I say do it! It's rly simple! Thank you so much for this. It's incredible to be able to listen to my own music. Very happy customer.

      Wow! Thanks for sharing - we try to make it easy for anyone to install, but I understand that for some it is daunting when looking at what I did on the video. Sorry about the lost screw - I know I've spent many an hour looking for some part that fell on the floor too.

      Quidzel oh my gosh, seriously, thank YOU. I dropped the tiny little part that screws onto the aux port... I've never been more frustrated lol. Anyway, thanks again. No more of that junk fm transmitter and all that static. I wish you all the best. ❤️

    This works great! I just did it on my early 2002 325i. Very easy to install and sound quality is great. I pulled my aux wire through a little hole on the top of the compartment below the ac controls. No drilling necessary if you do that

    Did this install on my e46 pre 2002, the only work around without getting the kit is buying a radio from a 2003+ e46. I just happened to have a sedan 04, and a coupe 2001 and was able to just switch radios and it worked fine. Installing the Bluetooth adapter though. Great tutorial, but not sure if website is still being monitored for purchases. Hence why I didn’t buy the kit since it’s an older mod, but it works.

    Hi, I have a problem. Maybe you or someone on the feed came help me. I'm wanting to hook up my xm radio to my bmw e46 3 series 325ci. I purchased a Aux cable hook it up and I had no sound, so I checked the aux wire in the back of the radio which was loose. I got sound, but it's not loud like a normal radio sound would be. So I'm wondering do I have the wrong plug, because I can pull the plug out the back of the radio without having to unplug the wiring harness. Also, every video says to plug the Aux cable in the left side of the radio facing you, I tried that, then the Aux would not show on my radio, so I had to plug it in the right side of the back of the radio. I hope this made sense. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    • @Quidzel
      @Quidzel  8 років тому

      Do you have the newer or older radio? The newer radio with the factory aux input has a gain setting to adjust the aux volume - using the music note button, scroll to the aux input volume while you are playing through aux, and you can change the gain for more volume. If you've bought any of Quidzel's kits, we definitely wanna make sure to give you support to get everything working right @ quidzel.com.

    • @Quidzel
      @Quidzel  10 років тому +5

      The wiring removed for the main stereo harness is the CD changer connection. We use this audio input to get your aux input into the head unit. The module in the trunk communicates with the head unit to allow the CD changer input to be selected. Normally, if there's no CD changer, the stereo won't select the input, but with our module, the stereo believes there's a CD changer present.

    • @Quidzel
      @Quidzel  9 років тому

      Our kit should work with your e39 provided you don't have navigation or digital DSP sound. We focus on the pre September 2002 radios as they don't have built in aux capability, but our kit works with any BMW that has an ibus cd changer.

    • @Quidzel
      @Quidzel  7 років тому

      All USA cars have the wiring, but some international cars may not have CD changer preparation. Check your VIN at BMWVIN.com to see what options you have and look for CD changer preparation. It is possible to modify the wiring behind the head unit so that our module works with your car if you don't have CD changer wiring, but it is a bit more involved.

    • @andreamitchell4758
      @andreamitchell4758 6 років тому

      this video confused the shit out of me why the hell are you removing the head unit? i thought the car had the CD changer wires in the trunk and if you wanted the optional CD changer you just had to plug it in in the trunk , are you telling me that they leave the wire disconnected in the back of the radio? and you have to take out the radio to plug in the other end of the wire? cause that makes no fucking sense i can not believe German engineers who be so retarded , are you sure the other end of the wire is not already plugged into the back of the radio?

    • @griffendevarennes9634
      @griffendevarennes9634 6 років тому

      its something quidzel provides with the aux adapter

    • @andreamitchell4758
      @andreamitchell4758 6 років тому

      no it is absolutely fucking retarded
      it makes no sense to remove the head unit to plug in a wire harness for the aux when that harness is already extended to the trunk for the CD changer
      they could have just made one simple thing that just plugs into the CD changer wire instead of making you pull the head unit out for no reason
      just make a device with a male header not a female one that plugs in in the back instead , most people like me use bluetooth there is power back there i assume to power the CD changer(maybe switched power with the radio or ignition?) so why not just have something with an added USB type A port then all you have to do is plug it in in the back and not have to remove your trim and pull your head unit out
      and then you would have an aux jack in back and a USB port to plug in a bluetooth receiver or you could just route the wire to the center console
      does anyone make a product that does not involve removing the radio when there are perfectly usable wires in the trunk

    • @griffendevarennes9634
      @griffendevarennes9634 6 років тому

      The reason why you need to remove the head unit is because you need to remove the cd connector, and replace it with the aux wire harness, if he unplugged the cd connector, how would it make any sense for the wire in the trunk be connected to the cd connector he just pulled out. Besides, its super easy to take the head unit out, you just removing taking two screws out, it took me 15 minutes to do the whole process.

      Del Chambers Depends on the year, and non USA cars might be a little different. If you have a 2003+ e46, it is likely that you can buy a simple cable to enable the Aux input. For the older models, you have to go through the CD changer port and use a CD changer emulator as shown here.

      if this is supposed to go in the trunk then explain what you are doing behind the radio , i do not want anything that requires the head unit to come out i just want something that plugs in in the trunk to CD changer connectors ,you do not explain why you are removing the radio or what you are doing behind there at all , you do not explain what those 2 connectors are or where they come from or where they go to ,
      you said nothing about the connector you plugged in after you unplugged the other connector form the back of the radio , what is it? where does it come from? is it the other end of the wire harness from the trunk? is it already there just hanging out behind the radio or is it something you get with the aux adapter? if its already there then i don't understand why BMW would not have it connected to the radio already, if it is something you provide with the aux kit then what is the other end supposed to connect to?

    • @Quidzel
      @Quidzel  6 років тому +1

      There's two pieces required here - one is the CD changer emulation, and the other is the actual audio input. On the newer radios, all you need to do is attach a cable behind the head unit, but the older radios do not have a dedicated aux input port. We are using the CD changer port on the head unit as an aux input, but it does require the emulator so that the radio is basically tricked into accepting the aux input. Not all the pieces are completely described as the mounting of the other end of the cable - the 3.5mm audio input - is up to you - some mount it in the dash area, some leave it hanging in the glove box or mount it there. You could use the CD changer audio input in the trunk (which threads to the head unit over OEM wiring), but for the purposes of an aux input, it's actually easier to remove the radio than to thread the aux cable through the car to wherever you'd want it near the dash.
      Just to be clear, our kit has both the emulator and the cable that goes to the back of the head unit. You'd want to provide a 3.5mm male-male aux audio cable which would be the same audio cable you'd have to have with almost any other aux inputs, factory or not, and that would get you going.
