I had the Tempest Scrambler until I passed my A licence. The good thing is that it is a reasonably big bike physically. Rather under-powered to keep up with main road traffic, especially if you are a big person - like me. I never got it over 55mph and even that was a struggle. Ideal for lightweights and especially for round-town commuting. Quality of chrome and painted parts are suspect - rust appeared pretty quickly after the bike got wet. For the price, it is a fair deal, just don't expect it to last in pristine condition without a lot of maintenance.
Another great review Gilly, The bike looks great and the good thing about these basic bikes is you can spanner them yourself and parts are pretty generic, unlike most of the bigger Chinese bikes that seem to be all the rage at the moment, with all the latest intrusive tech, and body panels/Parts that if damaged are just not available as spares. I think the engines in these are also very generic and should be strong and have good longevity as they are basically old Japanese engines that are detuned.
Cheers 👍. I think you’re right about these. Getting parts wouldn’t be a problem. They look like they share loads of parts with other brands and im sure the parts will be cheap. I do love a basic bike. 😁
You have ridden it before, in the form of that Bullit Bluroc the other week. 60 mph you'll be lucky 😂 Much better looking though and more roadster style, just imagine that with a 350cc engine, now that would be a tempting Tempest, would go down a storm 😂

Well done Gilly. You could be a professional journalist at this rate!
I will do anything to pay the bills 😂
It does look good, in an old-school way. I like the way the engine tilts forward.

I like that bike. I remember the old Taffy playing on the fields as a kid zipping about on something like that. Wow that was so long ago.
There is no way motorcycles were around when you and TAF were kids 😂
Nice little bike that. Looks like something my grandad had when I was younger
They really do have a nice classic look to them.
I have a Cadwell in the same colour! Same 9.5hp engine. I havemanaged to get 70mph (at least on the clock) out of mine.
I don’t think at my weight I could get one to 70. 60 is doable though. 😁
@@GillyBikes I am 14 stone...plus whatever kit I put on!
@steveaga4683 unfortunately I’m a few stone heavier than that.

I think the different tyres have fooled me 🤔
It looks to have the Yamaha clone engine. TBH a 20 year old Cg125 would be more reliable.
I’ve not had one or borrowed one long term so I can’t answer the reliability question
