Beautiful review onboard Air Greenland! 😊
Loved the extensive cabin shots and also the scenic views of Greenland during landing!
The meal looks kind of small though :/

You are really brave for leaving your passport and air-ticket on your seat shortly after boarding the plane, then walked down the aisle to check-out another seat. You had no fear of it going missing before you get back? Very brave of you indeed. 😊

A new runway and new airport facilities are currently under construction and near completion in Nuuk. This will allow for the airbus and similar jets to land directly in Nuuk. The first flight is scheduled to arrive v with passengers on the 28th of November 2024.
This will allow for flights to other destinations than Copenhagen, and these new flights have already been announced. The new runway is 2200 meters long.
A similar runway and airport facilities are being built in Ilulissat, but they are behind in the construction work so this airport won’t be ready until late 2025 or 2026.

What you don’t know is that the airport police in Copenhagen lets a drug sniffing dog sniff all the luggage right before it’s loaded onto the plane. If the dog responds to a suitcase, they note the name of the owner and baggage number and then when the plane is in the air, they alert the police in Greenland who upon arrival will apprehend the owner and his suitcase.
This eliminates the need for a lot of additional checks in Kangerlussuaq.
However, local custom officials in Nuuk are often on hand checking arriving passengers from Denmark when they come from Kangerlussuaq. Their biggest concern are illegal drugs, but they will also check for any excess in alcohol, tobacco and other items that are heavily taxed by the Greenland government.

Tobacco is very expensive in Greenland as our local government has slammed tobacco with a really high tax. The tobacco onboard is tax free so even people who don’t smoke will buy tobacco for family and friends.

11:00...you do know that Greenland is a very cold icy temperate region, yet you are wondering why a lot of people are buying tobacco onboard. How else are they going to keep themselves warm when they arrive there? 😅😊

Why did people clap when the planed landed? Did I miss something?

this is just an old tradition to clap the pilot when the landing is good

It’s because they are a bit mental and a bit stupid, or they are all scared of flying and glad to be down

yeah, its an OLD tradition, I find it as cringe etc. as standing up as soon as the plane comes to a halt, even before the jetbridge is attached

This is an old tradition in Greenland. It demonstrates our appreciation to the crew for everyone arriving safely. I love this tradition, but if the plane has more tourists than local people this tradition is not honored. Which I think is a great shame…I hope our local population never gets so jaded and haughty that they cease to offer this appreciation of the crew.

Fly with them reguarly - Ticket fares are way to high, and the service has changed for the worse since the new airbus entered the fleet.
