The Complete Book of Caricature by Bob Staake - Art Book Review

The Complete Book of Caricature is a historical overview of the art of caricature as a means of political commentary and artistic expression. It is NOT a how-to book. The book is great for artists who already know how to draw faces and are looking for style ideas. The book is also ideal for students of journalism or media influence who are interested in the use of caricature from a philosophical vantage point.
This book provides a wealth of fascinating examples of how artists over the decades approached this task.
Some of my favorite areas of this book involve when multiple artists all draw the exact same person, each in their own style. It gives you a real sense of how varied the world of caricature is and how emphasizing different parts of a person's face can make a substantial difference to the end result.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in caricatures.
