How many people would that not mentally shatter. 6 months of at any moment he could be found and killed and essentially trapped with no way to escape and get home. Especially with Cortana musing on who's really the machine between the two of them more than once, something of which still probably replays within the Chief's head. 0:39 incredible play of light, first, while the spartan suffers the light is red and bright indicating that there is something urgent to do, which is to free him.
When he is released and the Spartan stops suffering, the light is neutral reflecting that theres no more urgency and the Master Chief is paying attention to what he has to say, the light on the Spartan's face makes it your center of attention, while the Master Chief remains in the shadow so that he does not distract you, when the spartan stops talking and dies the light turns to a cold blue indicating that Chief is assimilating the death of the spartan, this is reinforced accompanied by music and that he does not speak.
And finally, the same red light that previously indicated urgency now serves to illuminate the background, it is important that the background is illuminated and not Chief because that way his anger and determination is better reflected.

Vengeance is not a good motivation for the Banished. In the books, their leader Atriox, specifically states how petty vengeance is as an emotion. The reason the Banished is a multi-species alliance (including Elites and humans in their forces) is because Atriox doesn't believe in vengeance against an entire species, it offers no reward for the pragmatic mercenaries that they're supposed to be.
Atriox would know that not all of humanity is at fault. He would know that it was just the UNSC specifically that was irresponsible with Cortana. That's not something that should be retconned out of the canon.

I'm honestly surprised that "enjoying Master Chief's human side" is a seemingly popular opinion. Halo's fans usually gave me the impression that they would cry out of frustration if Master Chief even showed the slightest bit of emotion.
Speaking of, does Master Chief respect the Hunters, the Unggoy, the Brutes, the Sanghelei, the Jackals, and the Skirmishers as soldiers, the same way he does with Escharum? This is the first FPS game I remember playing that sheds light on "respect for the enemy" in war.

so i wouldn't say people hate chiefs human side, they just didn't like how it was portrayed in halo 4 and 5

I think the moral of Halo infinite is about redemption. Chief’s journey to redeem himself after losing Cortana and being beaten by Atriox. Fernando’s journey to face up to what he did and do what’s best despite his fear. Escharum’s goal to finally die in a respectable way, to a valued enemy. Cortana, with her final act. Once and for all, realizing her mistakes and choosing to save Chief one last time. And finally, perhaps most importantly, 343’s redemption. They tried Halo with different formulas, made mistakes, made strides, but returned to what made them all fall in love with the franchise in the first place. A story of a green man, and blue lady, who fight impossible odds to give us all hope that things can be better.

He died fighting for what he believed in doing what he thought was right, it's all he could have hoped for, Chief and He were monsters to eachother, that understood eachother, Chief's respect for a dieing warrior regardless of sides is one of the more powerful moments I've seen in anything for a while.
And Echo 216, just a civilian engineer in way over his head, thrust into what should have been a no win situation, he wasn't ready for any of this, got crushed by the pressure a few times, but he did a darn good job picking himself up each time, even with Chief there to help it's nothing to laugh at
