  • The Smoke finally clears and we spend a day exploring Lasqueti Island, a great destination for cruisers! The island lives totally off grid, with no building codes so you will find some very unique structures! Local farms provide stands that offer fresh fruit and veggies as well as homemade cookies. They work by the honor system, take what you need and leave money in the box for the items you took.
After a short visit, we head to Hornby Island and anchor in Tribune Bay! One of favorite beaches in BC! The swimming is wonderful and so many trails to explore as well as mountain bike! Wish we could have stayed longer!! Definitely will be back again!!
Hope you guys enjoyed! Next Episode we head into DESOLATION SOUND!! By far the most beautiful sailing we've seen so far in the PNW!

Hornby is still my favourite gulf island! There are so many activities to do there and nothing beats Tribune!

Last time I was at Tribune there was almost a full moon. A great place unless the wind from the south!

    HAHAHHHAAAAA
We were on Lasqueti twice 2 different years 10 or 12 years ago with our Macgregor 26x one where you are and once in Squitty bay , we had bought cookies and coffee there and it was pricey, the proprietor said his moto was fleece and release , we were living off the power and gas grid then too in northern Alberta..
We had a blast there .

BC coast is so beautiful, with all this Canadian activity you might have to consider moving up here 😜

Sand dollars are prickly because they are in the urchin family.

Love the videos! What would you say are the biggest challenges of the PNW, obviously the currents are serious, and mist. What other things perhaps to look out for when buying a boat fit for the area?

Thanks! I would say anchoring can be a challenge here in the PNW. Anchorages can be deep and rocky in many parts and we definitely don't have a shortage of concrete debris and logs (from the logging industry). We have 250' of chain and a stern tie set up which is very handy. Also, in any area where we expect large logs etc (river mouths) we set up the anchor retrieval so that we have a chance of getting back our ground tackle should it get snagged. Also carry a hacksaw, spare anchor and chain just in case.

Canada is NOT the Pacific Northwest!!

The Pacific Northwest does include British Columbia which is a Canadian Province.
