Facebook Live to Groups is Changing. Here's the Workaround.

- Meta is shutting down the Groups API.
This means you won't be able to use a 3rd party tool to schedule and broadcast live to Facebook Groups and see comments.
In this video, I share my thoughts and a workaround that lets you use a live streaming tool like Ecamm Live to broadcast to your Facebook groups and view, manage, and highlight comments.

Super easy video to follow! thank you! I was wrecking my brain to get those comments up on the screen before I found your video!
So glad you found this helpful!
Love your take on this issue, @Ian Anderson Gray.
Thanks! Hope it was helpful. I'm going to be doing more videos on this over the coming weeks.
Brilliant work around! What a relief! Thanks
Thanks, Katy! Meta might making our lives more difficult, but good to know there are workarounds.
@@ianandersongray yes! Thanks for providing a way forward. It’ll be interesting to see how this strange move by Meta plays out.
Finally got around to watching this, well done mate.
Way to technical for me though lol, and I certainly won't be suggesting it to my customers as I know I'll get a ton of questions 😂.
I will share this video though if they feel brave enough to try it. 👍
Thanks, Adrian. Sorry I missed your comment. It's far too complicated than it needs to be. Hope it is helpful though.
Thanks, Ian!
Thanks for popping here, Nancy!
Great tutorial Ian. Do you think there's a possibility they will remove the RTMP access from groups as well?
Thanks, Ileane. Great to see you here. Good question! With Meta, anything is possible. But I think that's unlikely. Removing RTMP certainly hasn't been announced. It's just the Groups API. It does make you wonder that the thinking is behind this. Are they working on something new? Who knows!
Neat, effective solution Ian
Thanks, Steven. It's at least something for now. Maybe Meta will have something else up it's sleeves?
Thank you for this! Just to confirm after April we will still be able to stream a presentation into a Facebook group using OBS? I use Reflector 4 to mirror my phone in OBS to show comments, will this all still work? Thank you!
Glad it helped. Whatever tool you use, you can stream to Facebook Groups as long as you're doing it with a stream key and stream URL. So, if you've been doing that in OBS, nothing changes.
Great demo Ian
Thanks, Jim! Hope it stops people panicking too much!
@@ianandersongray I also like your point that maybe people need to seriously consider how to get off the rented land.
Hi Ian. Is this also going to affect live streaming using Zoom? I currently live stream into my Facebook groups using Zoom. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the delay. I've not tried live streaming from Zoom for a while. Last time I checked you needed to use Facebook Producer and so if that's the case, nothing will change.
Wow!
Thanks, Ramon!
@ian You are a genius! But this is an insane pta. ☺ - Kami
Glad you like!
