I do a recipe similar to this. I also add in some fruit at the end, frozen like the veggies and it's normally blueberries. I mix it up every batch or two. If you transition your dog to homemade, start by mixing with kibble (or their normal food) and then slowly decrease the amount of kibble until you've got all homemade. I also add a vitamin supplement so they have everything they need. They have so much more energy, their coats are so much more lustrous and beautiful and in general, you can tell how much healthier they are. Love that you did this Jeff!!!
Cutie! Yeah my dogs will never eat big chunks of veggies like that. When I make dog food I grind everything up. Plus I add ground egg shells for calcium, dried kelp powder for more nutrients, hemp oil... This recipe is missing a lot. Check online for full healthy dog food recipes.
I've been cooking for my dogs for years, but I always just add it to their kibble as a supplement, and not every day. They love it and they all wait patiently while I cook, knowing Mom is making something good for them. My partner laughs because it's like the dogs have their own gourmet chef. 😁
I have been doing this same thing for a few years but I add some top grade kibble in just before serving. That way you know they are getting all the vitamins & minerals that they need, plus the crunch of the kibble is good for their teeth.🐶
I have been making my dogs food for years, but I was told no broccoli or cauliflower it is to gastric for them. I use sweet potato and spinach, carrots, green beans. They love it.

I’ve been making dog food for the last month. Since we can’t get Freshpet, it was the only thing to do. I make a chicken stew, a beef stew and a beef and rice dinner. I use carrots, green beans, peas and sweet potatoes. I have super picky dogs and they really like it. They also love my dog meatloaf with mashed potato topping.
OMG Jeff thank you so much. I have a baby 13 year old Yorkie. The light of my life and she is so very picky. I tried everything including Freshpet and she would not eat it. I used a small bag of frozen peas and carrots and put them in the pot with turkey and rice and ...Awesome she likes it. Thank you forever.
This my first time making dog food. I’m impressed how easy it is to make. Especially, Bella and Dulce (my dogs 🐶) loved ❤️ it. Thank you for sharing, Jeffrey.
Great video! Was gonna order some natural dog food online, ($100 a week), but will do this instead. Yours is almost the exact same ingredients as the online stuff. Thank you!
We've been making pressure cooker bone broth for our pup for years. He's so picky about veggies, they must be frozen 🤣 so I mix those in last minute with his kibble and some bone broth. He eats the rainbow better than I do! 🙈
What an amazing puppy treat!!! I love it! It’s possibly not nutritionally complete (minerals, calcium, certain vitamins, etc) but I’m going to make this for all my pets! Thank you Jeffery!❤️🐶❤️🐶
Sorry I haven't comment sooner. The comments have just showed up. The additional of the kibble adds the nutrition he needs. Your welcome Holly, but I'm Robyn..not Jeffery
Also late to the party….kibble is processed at such a high temperature that there isn’t much nutritional value despite what the bag says it has in it. All the good nutrients are killed at high temp….plus all the added preservatives. Do you ever wonder why there is no expiration date? It’s like a Twinkie it will last for years do to all the preservatives.
Thank you thank you thank you. I have been waiting for a dog food recipe myself. I have a jack wire and a French sheepdog and they love to munch down. And sadly they too will eat absolutely anything if something falls onto the floor they jump on it before I can get to it and that is scary. So we are in training to stop doing that, and were in need a special treat that tastes great for this very occasion. And this looks like it’s going to be just what we needed. So thank you. I think you’ll find that most of your viewers are pet parents. Nothing makes us happier than our happy babies.
And here I was going to brave the winter storm so that Little Ricky could have a nutritious meal; instead, I can stay safely at home and whip up a batch of homemade dog food. Who knew? Well, apparently our Jeffrey did. And life is good...
When changing a dogs food it's best to start with a tiny bit a dog that size I might try a teaspoon one day then two watch the results if the dog gets loose then back up on the amount.
Oh my goodness...so much cuteness 😍 Banjo! We make food for our girl. She’s older and has a hard time with dry food. Will definitely try your recipe 🙏💕
You can also save up poultry bones and cook them down in the pressure cooker until they’re super soft then pulverize them in the blender or food processor until smooth. Add back in small amounts of the cooking broth for the desired consistency. Exercise caution, however, to ensure that no bone fragments remain. Pushing it through a sieve can help. It’s also very rich, so start with small amounts so tummies don’t get upset. My girl loves it.
Try a bone broth of some kind instead of water. Need meat based fat to keep his fur softer and he will be more satisfied with more meat protein type of fat. Just a thought. Also different types of meat will give different types of vitamins naturally.
Banjo is the cutest pup ever, except for mine! 😉 I've been using my instant pot to make dogs food for about 6 months now. I add sweet potatoes, eggs and lentils as well and double the recipe, so I do it in stages (really need another instant pot). I don't saute any of it. I just put all of it in since one of my pups doesn't really like veggies it's better if they're really mushy. Thank you for this recipe, commercial food is the pits!
I have made my dog's food for years in the Instant Pot. I use a whole chicken that I cook in the Instant Pot and shred. I use brown rice, an egg, sweet potato and green beans. The vet says Lola is in perfect health and the perfect weight.
I am so glad that Banjo is so well fed following your recipe! We are just the same following your other recipes! Happy dog happy momma! You hit all the right bases! Love your channel!
I cook for my dogs also, but I use a supplement for them as well, and any dog food you cook probably needs a calcium supplement added, and some brewers yeast or nutritional yeast in order to prevent deficiencies.
Great recipe! I’ve been making dog food in my IP for a year now, and they LOVE it. It’s made a huge difference for their health! I literally just throw everything in, frozen, to the IP with chicken stock and let it cook :)
Great idea! Did you consult your vet? That looked like a lot of rice to me, and I'd be a little nervous abut frequent use of broccoli. The cabbage vegetables contain a protein that actually blocks thyroid hormone, in humans as well as dogs, but I'm clueless about how much they would have to consume. I also like Ms Carbone's comment about adding eggshell. I will definitely do this for my puppies. Their treat is the fresh dogfood I occasionally get from Costco, which they inhale.
Before I read the title I looked at the picture and thought, he's making my mom's version of fried rice, that seems odd... I cooked for our rescue dog for years, she had lost all of her teeth because of her previous owners neglect. I would also suggest, as others already have, to check on with your dogs vet, you want to make sure your dog isn't missing nutrients it needs. As or dog had some digestive problems our vet suggested adding pumpkin to her mix as well as a vitamin supplement. I believe he limited the amount of rice we have her as well. (She crossed the rainbow bridge 7 years ago so the details are a little fuzzy...)
I follow a couple of animal rescue sites. FYI, if you ever decide to make sweet Banjo some food again, coconut oil is good for animals Pumpkin is also good for dogs. You may already know this, but in case you didn't ....
Great recipe, I use it with the exception that I buy the smaller frozen bags of chopped veggies for soups at my grocery store such as peas & carrots or chopped spinach and chopped broccoli.
First off love your channel. I’m a subscriber! I know your branding is pressure luck but I have been messing with my air fryer for everything. Are you ever going to mess with that newish technology? It’s so convenient like the instant pot. Just a thought.

Cute lil Banjo! You're brave to use cruciferous veggies in his food! I make my dog's food, but out of total self defense wouldn't dare! Rather, I opt for sweet potato, green beans, carrots & peas. She loves it!
Great video. I've been making my dog's food in the IP for 2 years now. I do chicken legs and thighs, peas & carrots. I add kibble when feed cause homemade food doesn't have all the nutrients they need...as per my vet. They so love our homemade food.
I have a question...I know that if you add 1 tbsp of ACV, the bones will crumble....and they can get the health benefits from the marrow. I have leg quarters that I thought about doing this with....but not sure if I would do the bones or not...any thoughts?
One of my black Labs has an upset tummy. I made a much larger amount than your recipe as she's obviously a much larger dog. It's in my 3 quart Instant Pot now. I'll let you know what she thinks. Thanks for doing this recipe !
Thank you!! I’ve been making my yorkie’s food (using the mini instant pot) since I brought her home. I make small batches every week. She loves it. With all the recalls and deaths from dog food manufacturers, this is the way to go. Besides, what were families feeding their animals before the industrial revolution? They put road kill in dog food and other dead animals. Thank you for being so good to Banjo.

Awww... Banjo's getting so big! He's not a puppy anymore! BTW, I do something similar for my Golden Retriever, except I use bone-in chicken thighs (there's only ONE bone per thigh... just remove them after cooking), barley instead of rice (it's healthier), and tons of veggies during the cooking (so that they're nice and soft).
You’re so lucky to be able to give your fur baby chicken thighs! I was feeding my cockapoo chicken breast in addition to high quality kibble but it became really expensive so I switched over to chicken thighs. He literally pooped what looked like black tar for almost 8 hours straight, along with vomiting. The vet told me that the chicken thighs were too rich for his pancreas🥺I felt so bad! So now his spoiled little furry self gets only organic chicken breast.
@@DonnaMSchmid Thank you☺️ Oh my gosh yes, it was terrifying, threw me into a full blown panic attack! This happened when he was about 2-3 years old, he’ll be 10 this March. My friend feeds her 2 dogs chicken thighs every day - no problem🤷🏼♀️ I love the picture of your Golden, such a beautiful fur baby😍
@@DonnaMSchmid Oh no😥 I’m so sorry! That is heartbreaking😔 My boy Boston is starting to have some health issues and I just can’t bear to think of “that” day without starting to cry.
Love your baby. I would chop up the vegetables more. Some dogs wolf down their food as mine would. We also add a couple hard boiled eggs for more protein. Great recipe. We used to have to make it on the stove, use the microwave too. So much time.
I loved seeing you cook for Banjo. We have cooked all of our dogs food for about 20 yrs now. It’s a labor of love here because how much we make (enough for amour 30 days at a time…and of course freeze it in 3 day portions). I will have to try a smaller portion as you showed here and looks much easier in the IP than the multiple pans we use. However, we use lentils now instead of rice because one of our dogs couldn’t have the rice. I guess what I’m getting at is how long would you cook the browned meat with the lentils added? We also use zucchini and green beans in the food and try to have a mix of 40-30-30 meat-lentils-veggies and add in vitamin supplement. Banjo is adorable!
Omg Where did you get your Norwich Terrier? Mine passed away a couple years ago my heart was broken I want another one so bad. I showed him and finished his shows and five shows or finished his championship in five shows he was awesome.
I work at a high quality pet food and supply store and it makes me crazy when people tell me that they're feeding their dog a "raw diet" and when I ask them what they give, they tell me things like, lean chicken breast or ground beef or even worse, lunch meat !!! 😒 .. or even worse yet, they will tell me that their dog eats whatever they eat (Yes, this includes junk food snacks) 😣 I'm always like "NOOOOOOO" 🤦♀️ (Of course I'm screaming inside but I have to be polite on the outside and calmly explain to them why what they are doing is giving no nutritional value at ALL) I'm glad this guy is doing it right. I got a little nervous when I clicked on the video. I wish people would do their research instead of making assumptions and harming their animal's health, even when they have good intentions. Of course then I cringe when people assume that I am just trying to "make a sale" so I usually offer them a few samples and some pamphlets with information and then I suggest they do their own research. It always feels good when people come back more educated and thank me for making them aware.. but there's ALWAYS those few people who think they know better and continue to tell me all of the ailments their poor a dog has but they refuse to make the connection with food so instead they take them to a veterinarian who offers them zero nutritional information and just gives them medication as a Band-Aid for whatever symptoms the dog is having 😔 it's heartbreaking, honestly.. especially when the dog is having stomach issues, or ripping their skin open from scratching due to food allergies.. or even worse. Love your animals people but PLEASE, love them properly. I come across people on a daily basis who apply whatever they have heard about human nutrition to their dogs and it's so wrong because dogs have a totally different physiological, metabolic and digestive system.
Yes I got a bit of scolding from my vet when I told her I was feeding my dogs human food. But I told her because I was worried about it not being balanced. Here is a great site she told me to use... tell your customers. It’s called Balance It. They sell a supplement for people who want to make their own food. You punch in the foods you use then it shows which supplement to get. It’s the best thing I’ve seen and will cover them. secure.balanceit.com/ez/index.php?rotator=NewEz
Are you from NY or NE? I'm just tickled how you saw dawg!!! Im from NYC who lives on the south and people always tease me when o saw dog or coffee...lol I can listen to you all day...lol
Been cooking that for ages.. . Just add some oats... Freeze in small tubs.. And everyday just pop one out of freezer for next day.... And my doggie gobbles it up... Used to be a picky eater.. No more!
I cook like this vid and use a instapot a lot. I had a one year younger brother that never figured out things for himself when mom brought out fried round steaks on a platter he’d start crying. All he had to do was look under the table problem was solved, I’d let the dog in and it was out of sight under the table next to my leg, we were expected to eat what was in front of us no excuses and he’d actually fall asleep while trying to chew it up!!!!!!!😳 our dog ate very well and also got the leftovers and scraps!!!!!!! 😁 oh yeah they never seem to have health problems to have to take them to a veterinarian, you call it dog food, the vid made me start drooling what’s that saying about me??????? 🤪
I have an Alaskan husky that has a digestive problem he can't eat most food because he gets diarrhea really bad how well does this work on your dogs digestive system ?
Could you cook this at night, turn off the Instant Pot, leave it overnight in the Instant Pot, and serve it the night morning without it going bad or spoiling? Thank you for sharing?
This could possibly be a treat. It is void of a lot of ingredients as a main diet for any dog. I really hope you make some adjustments to this before your viewers start feeding it to their pets. You have not included a calcium supplement, a multi vitamin supplement, or any oily fish for omegas. Your non protein part (veggie and rice) is way too high compared to your protein.
Exactly! Too much carb, too little protein, none of the calcium and minerals or omega-3s a dog needs. Now there will be people ruining the nutrition of their dogs.
Dogs eat their own poop. Cows eat grass. Wolves don’t eat veggies. Just because some dog nutritionist makes some micronutrient recommendation just justify their paycheck doesn’t make it so. You think preserved dried dog food is any better? I think you could do worse.
Have you seen what is in pet food? Most of it is wheat and a load of crap! This is a lot better....and more nutrients.... Is the best...hmm probably not...but it's better then most pet store stuff...
My cat wants meat only types of food. Meat fats and different types of meats. That way cats can get the variable vitamins that is needed. But of bone broth for a gravy.
A wise man who loves his dog, anything I've read about commercial dog food is scary. Every animal lover should do this, get away from commercial garbage dog food, it's killing dogs.

@@mizzwycked7931 That was my Barclay, who passed away from cancer a long time ago... But I still miss him every day! 💖
@@DonnaMSchmid Oh no😥 I’m so sorry! That is heartbreaking😔 My boy Boston is starting to have some health issues and I just can’t bear to think of “that” day without starting to cry.
Banjo. I’m your biggest fan. I agree with you. This food looks good. I ❤️ it!!!!
Oh my gosh, he is a adorable :) I'm going to make this for sure.
What a sweet dog!
Awww sooo cute. I have two dogs. They would be the same. I have a a bulldog beagle mix and a shitzu
That was so cute!! Great job guys!!
Very endearing video! Bravissimo!!!!
Thank you.
Banjo from Queens he is sooooooo cute!
At first I thought y’all were going to cook poor Banjo. Poor baby!!
😂😂😂
Omg Where did you get your Norwich Terrier? Mine passed away a couple years ago my heart was broken I want another one so bad. I showed him and finished his shows and five shows or finished his championship in five shows he was awesome.
Awesome Jeff!! Love this, my bulldog is gonna be in Heaven!
Your doggie is so cute.
Hi, how are you? A good video, thanks for sharing. Have an awesome week!
I want a Norfolk terrier!
I work at a high quality pet food and supply store and it makes me crazy when people tell me that they're feeding their dog a "raw diet" and when I ask them what they give, they tell me things like, lean chicken breast or ground beef or even worse, lunch meat !!! 😒 .. or even worse yet, they will tell me that their dog eats whatever they eat (Yes, this includes junk food snacks) 😣
I'm always like "NOOOOOOO" 🤦♀️
(Of course I'm screaming inside but I have to be polite on the outside and calmly explain to them why what they are doing is giving no nutritional value at ALL)
I'm glad this guy is doing it right.
Im from NYC who lives on the south and people always tease me when o saw dog or coffee...lol
I can listen to you all day...lol
Been cooking that for ages.. . Just add some oats... Freeze in small tubs.. And everyday just pop one out of freezer for next day.... And my doggie gobbles it up... Used to be a picky eater.. No more!
Do we need a nutritional powder or somthing for this????
DOG FOOD?! THATS MY LUNCH!
A little salt and pepper and I’m down with it too!! 🐕🤦♂️
Is this product good quality ?
I have an Alaskan husky that has a digestive problem he can't eat most food because he gets diarrhea really bad how well does this work on your dogs digestive system ?
Thank you Jeffery!💜
Kitty household here but I've been using the IP to cook chicken for her too.
wonder good enough nutritions for dog?
Could you cook this at night, turn off the Instant Pot, leave it overnight in the Instant Pot, and serve it the night morning without it going bad or spoiling? Thank you for sharing?
I would not trust this to sit that long in an instant pot without refrigeration. Your dog will get sick
@@makingMyHouseaHome412 Ok, thank you!
Banjo was licking his lips from the start 😋
War Eagle!!!
Is olive oil good for dogs?
Yes olive oil is good for dogs.
Yay!!!!
You may just kick start many people feeding fresh for their fur babies.
Oh dear, when this first popped up on my subscription new videos, I misread it as if you were cooking dog rather than for dog!
Can you please make recipe for cat food
No Boursin????
Can you do a cat food video seance you made a dog food video cause some viewers have cats as well
My cat wants meat only types of food. Meat fats and different types of meats. That way cats can get the variable vitamins that is needed. But of bone broth for a gravy.
@@100Diamonds10 my cat likes salmon sometimes she'll eat cheese I feed my cat once in awhile table scraps
A wise man who loves his dog, anything I've read about commercial dog food is scary. Every animal lover should do this, get away from commercial garbage dog food, it's killing dogs.
