Looks great! I wanna do the same for my truck since my audio display is messed up and changes screens on its own. I just wish when you put your truck in reverse, it would pop up on the tablet.
@@miketips4188 Just buy one that comes with the rearview mirror screen and dashcam. I installed a tablet in my 2018 f150 to cover the crappy 4" screen. Run Bluetooth directly into a DSP don't even use the factory radio at all.

Hey I believe you can get the S8+ with cellular data, but instead I just connect to my phone's mobile Hotspot. The tablet is susceptible to burn in but I haven't experienced any yet, I am careful to change what's displayed every so often. I don't run android auto, I simply Bluetooth the tablet to the vehicle as though it's a large phone.

It does, if it's very hot or cold I usually bring the tablet inside. I have gotten a warning the tablet is getting too hot after being parked in the sun for awhile. The tablet recovers quickly after the AC is turned on and the battery has held up great
@@miketips4188get a wolfbox dashcam, it double as a rear view mirrow and backup cam, make sure its the 4k version. I have pitch black tint in my rear so its nice having a rear view again
ive been thinking for months using the s8+ the same way youre using it. i got an old mb with a tiny 6 in screen and a real pain to change out head unit as the system is fiber optics. i also want to use a bt receiver into the aux port so i can get the audio to come through the car sound system. i see they have a cd slot bracket but it seems very flimsy. perhaps i can think of some kind of magnetic type mount but i dont want to deface the console.
Hey so I would recommend pro clip, if you go on their website and put in your make and model you can see what type of brackets they have. Most of the time they attach behind trim pieces and won't damage the console. My first video was about the CD mount it worked surprisingly well at the time but eventually I wanted something more secure
Came across this video looking for 3d printed mounting ideas. I've been running an S8 Ultra on my dash for about a year now (started with an s5e then s7), I used 2 magnetic phone mounts. Allows me to adjust the angle as I want, but I'm thinking about creating a more seamless look as well as maybe a 3d printed hood/visor to help with glare. I had a matte screen protector on it before but hated the look and feel.

Hey so if you go back to my previous videos I show how I pieced it together, everything was purchased from a local hardware store and Amazon. The difficulty would depend on the vehicle you're installing it on but in general I would say no it's not difficult!
Yo look great, planning on doing this to my truck. However, what are the new metal mounts you used on this new video? Where they are connect to the rubber.
So if you go to most hardware stores they will have aluminum flat bars of varying thickness. The ones in the video are 1/8 inch and the rubber is attached through the flat bar with a single screw.
Hey, great video man! I'm considering doing this with my tab s7 plus in my 2014 Scion XD. My only concern is receiving and making phone calls. If tablet is connected to vehicle through BT for audio and connected to phone's hotspot is that still possible to receive the calls?
@miketips4188 ugh....so after finally getting around to attempt this I found out Verizon removed the feature from their phones that allow to connect to Samsung tablet call and text feature. My previous s22 ultra had this feature. It must have been a non Verizon phone. 🤔

So the brackets are slightly visible from the side but it doesn't look bad, if you went for the ultra size tablet it would be completely hidden. The bracket and magnets were pieced together from Amazon and a local hardware store only cost about 25 bucks total. The tablet comes off no problem to expose the factory screen and all factory buttons are accessible underneath the tablet

If it's really hot I'll barley crack a window or if I'm home ill bring it in. I have accidentally left it out a couple times and it says it's in a protective mode due to heat. But no problems with functionality so far
Hey it is not connected to the reverse camera yet. I am exploring some wireless options but have not found one I like yet. For now I pop the tablet off the magnets and use the built in screens camera.
Depending on where I am I get some lag but for the most part video works well. It's coming over a cellular hotspot so you can't expect too much 720p is typically the smoothest

So I only link to the truck via Bluetooth, I've had trouble with tidal failing to load while I'm on the road. I use UA-cam music for audio streaming. I use tidal in my home theater setup, the master level audio sounds amazing
So you're gonna have to get creative with it, I'm not familiar with that vehicle but if there are good mounting points behing the dash then it could definitely work. I would check to see if they have any cellphone mounts for that make and model

Hey thank you! I am using a wifi tablet connected to be internet via the hotspot on my phone. The tablet does turn by turn directions just like a phone. The experience is, at least percevebly slightly less responsive than the phone itself. However it is still very good. I assume this latency is present because of the phones cellular connection being transmitted over wifi to the tablet.
@@miketips4188 the S9 just came out and is brighter under sunlight. You could probably get a good amount on a trade in. I’m doing the same thing using mine in car as well but I went with the ultra. Pre-ordered the S9 ultra. Just something to consider you know.
Hey so for the Tablet itself I'm using Nova launcher. The icons I created myself in cinema 4D and put them in place using an app on the play store called "Large Icons Widget". You should be able to download any image and resize it using the app. The Image can be mapped to open an app you choose.
Excuse my english. Greetings man! Last year, one day using my tablet, I installed Waze and the same thing occurred to me. It was great when I mounted it in my car! I share the idea of my assembly. I simply attached two strips of 3M brand velcro tape (for sticking pictures to the wall). Two to the plastic of the central panel and two to the tablet. It is easily assembled and disassembled 😉 Question, is that Wallpaper Engine or a similar app?

I've achieved this look on my Ford by simply using velcro strips. My tablet sits flush against the dash and no bump moves it or drops it.

Only works in vehicles with ac vents positioned like this....otherwise it covers the vents and reduces ac/heat.
That's true, you could close vents behind the tablet and the pressure would increase in other vents but you're right its not ideal

How are you mirroring phone ? Or is it separate android auto no phone text coming through.?
I use an app called head unit reloaded it's real android auto cast to the tablet screen, call and texts work

I have an s7+ mounted the same way in a Prius, I used 4 magnets though, 2 on top 2 on the bottom. bottom doesnt jiggle at all with the lower magnets

I only use it with wifi but if you go into the settings and pre download the section of the map you need it should work offline

Yes! You can receive text messages and phone calls through the tablet. I believe you just need to be signed into your samsung account on both devices

I used an Android app called "large icons widget." If there's a way to do it on apple I'm not aware of it.

With a usb c cable from the cigarette lighter same as a phone. Battery life is really good so far don't have it plugged in very often

This looks fantastic. Well done man. I've been pondering this project and I think I've been over thinking the mount. You have really enlightened me. I would appreciate you confirming two things please. 1) you're using a Wi-Fi tablet, not a cellular tablet? 2) Google Maps will do turn by turn navigation just like on a phone? Assuming so, what's your impression of using Google Maps on the tablet? Is it the same as, not as good, or better than using Google Maps on your phone? Thanks.
Hey thank you! I am using a wifi tablet connected to be internet via the hotspot on my phone. The tablet does turn by turn directions just like a phone. The experience is, at least percevebly slightly less responsive than the phone itself. However it is still very good. I assume this latency is present because of the phones cellular connection being transmitted over wifi to the tablet.

@@miketips4188 the S9 just came out and is brighter under sunlight. You could probably get a good amount on a trade in. I’m doing the same thing using mine in car as well but I went with the ultra. Pre-ordered the S9 ultra. Just something to consider you know.

Hey so for the Tablet itself I'm using Nova launcher. The icons I created myself in cinema 4D and put them in place using an app on the play store called "Large Icons Widget". You should be able to download any image and resize it using the app. The Image can be mapped to open an app you choose.

Greetings man! Last year, one day using my tablet, I installed Waze and the same thing occurred to me. It was great when I mounted it in my car!
I share the idea of my assembly. I simply attached two strips of 3M brand velcro tape (for sticking pictures to the wall). Two to the plastic of the central panel and two to the tablet. It is easily assembled and disassembled 😉
