Hannah loved clay but was scared to love and get hurt again, and clay was scared to loose hannah by admitting his love. Who agree that after showing Hannah and Zach's relation in se2..they somewhat ruined it. They ruined the thing that they showed in se1 between Clay and Hannah. i.e. clay was the only friend who cared about her who loved her without expecting anything purely .
