There’s one youtuber/livestreamer named Grimith who some time ago streamed this (non-)game and was asking the it some questions given by the people in chat and they claimed that some of the responses the it gave were freakishly accurate. There was one viewer who asked something along the lines of whether he would get pass the college and one of the responses the (non-)game made was like “Your secret fears/wants is to pass an examination”.
Poor Mario is only going to get a cake, I wonder if it picks up on keywords like love since they'd be common questions to target specific cards and meanings, or vagueness in vagaries is enough to us to assume whatever meaning we spot.
I remember this being such an oddball game at the time this originally came out. Only two stores in my town had this game for sale and they never sold haha. Nobody of know of either has ever played this game let alone ever mention itZ
This game... man, I owned a copy of it, but don't remember actually buying it, and I don't remember seeing the box or the instruction manual. I definitely popped this in a lot as a kid, mostly for the soundtrack, but also genuinely trying to get the answers to life issues (that a kid would have). EDIT: I never noticed it before, but apparently the High Priestess is topless? EDIT2: Okay, you got me with the Goonies question. I laughed.
@@PlusmaGun Cool. Thanks for the reply! There was also a moment in the video that had the sound of NES' The Black Bass by Hot-B. Maybe it's all sounding the same. But still interesting to catch similar tunes.
And David Wise paved the way for future Rare music magicians like Eveline Fischer-Novakovic, Robin Beanland, Graeme Norgate (who later worked for Free Radical Design), Grant Kirkhope and Ben Cullum.
This (non-)game is an enigma. If you don’t have its manual, you would be completely clueless. The music is really good though. Also, did the cards happen to match anything regarding your life?
Here is something I can say about tarot reading: it is about predicting a probability, as a non-business equivalent to a market research. It is not supposed to predict the future. In general, a tarot reader would ask for a very intimate item to hold onto while shuffling the cards, before laying them down in a Celtic cross formation. You are supposed to ask a question whose answers can either be highly probable, uncertain, highly unlikely (e.g. "I met that girl I am in love with, is this going to work out between us"? or "Am I going to get my high school degree"?) Yes, David Wise's soundtracks is amazing. I hope someday a music arranger will provide a SNES version of the name entry theme.
My local (and locally owned!) rental store, Video Etc., had this game and scotch taped onto the front of the lower half of the box on the shelf was a handwritten message on a sliver over printer paper which read: WARNING THIS GAME IS NOT TO BE RENTED TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. I never did play it until much later during the rise of emulation, but I was really intrigued seeing it in Nintendo Power. "Program" games like this weren't unheard of (I asked, but did not receive, that Miracle piano teaching game for Christmas ond year) and this one seemed really strange even before I saw that bizarre sign taped to the box. I was young enough at the time to believe the forces this game claimed to play with were real and it scared me a little.
@@bigduke5902 I unfortunately can't find any evidence that this truly happened. It most likely was made up like you said. Everything online seems to point to it being an urban legend.
My personal unique card theme favorites (excluding Coins, Cups, Staffs and Swords, as these four are common cards) are The Magician, The Chariot, Strength, The Devil, The Sun and Judgment.
😮😮😮😮😮😯😯😯😯 I think I remember having this game when I was 5 years old! I didn’t give it much attention because it wasn’t a regular action adventure game

Taboo is a cool NES novelty that I got a real kick out of. It's not every day that you find Ms. Cleo hiding in a game console.

“Call me now for your free tarot reading!”
How does it feel to have lived long enough to see all your favorite franchises go down in flames?
@Big Duke It helps me hone my cynicism, so at least it's not all bad 😉
I love how the answer to "will star trek ever not suck again" is basically "no. here are your lucky numbers".
It's: you should consult the occult, religious, or ceremonial rituals if you want to remedy this, and as a note, No. Give up.
For the Mario question: Will Princess Toadstool ever love me?: You may never overcome this, and No.
And for the Goonies one, are the goodies enough: No, but they will be/ you'll overcome this. These are my interpretations anyway.
"Will Princess Toadstool love me?"

I take it your Final Outcome was *_The Emperor?_*
I don’t have much experience with Taboo, but I’ve always loved that intro music. It’s very odd but also very memorably moody.
omg i love all of the music in this game.
Same composer as Battletoads and Donkey Kong Country, David Wise.

I rented this from the videostore when i was younger. This is the only game I've ever returned and said this is absolute garbage give me another one.

I played it and I own it. Bought it back when GameStop was Funcoland 😂
This is one of the most bizarre video games I ever have seen.
when i was little we rented this, the devil card and the back of a card sometimes turning into a skull scared me.

Sounds like Wizards and Warriors or Ironsword, in certain areas of the music.
Same music composer, David Wise, the first music magician Rare ever had, and definitely one of the best.
