- Sitting in the backyard playing music has been one of the common threads that ties everyone who's played with D & B over the years together. Maybe second only to sitting around the kitchen table! This was another great afternoon filled with BBQ'd ribs and music being played by legends Spooner Oldham, Bonnie Bramlett, Johnny Neel, Larry Henley, and Bekka Bramlett.
Bekka strongly resembles her mother. Got the great husky, soulful voice of hers' too! This was a treat; seeing this!
I just want to tell you, that in 1971 when this song came, my dad started a new job 8n Montana and we stayed in Mississippi for a couple of months to finish the school year. When we got to Montana my dad would aways hug on mom. They were so happy to be together again. I'm planning to add it to the Spotify list we're going to play at their 70th anniversary in July.

Sitting around the ranch with Bekka was one of the most amazing blessings I have ever received. These people are real and they are genuine. It has been one of my greatest life privileges to call her my friend.

I had the privilege of meeting and hanging out with Delaney in the mid-late 90's. I met him through Tom Donnelly, I also met Bekka several times, never Bonnie though. He actually sat in with us a couple of times.

when i lived in MACON, in the mid to late 70s, ERIC CLAPTON, played in ATLANTA,.......and BONNIE sat in with him!!! the next day, a SUNDAY, was MISS BONNIE'S B-DAY & there was always music bein played in CENTRAL CITY PARK, well BONNIE GOT up to sang with GRINDERSWITCH, and lo & behold, ERIC shows up and lord, if i didn't know better, you would have thought, the lord's chior, had showed up, and we had a almost, HOLY GHOST, REVIVAL*****

This had all the ambience of those hymn sings we used to have around the campfire at church camp, but the only beer consumed was Hires Root Beer.
The spirit was the same, though.

I've covered this song in several different bands, and I still Love it. I learned it the very day I first heard D&B do it. Some songs just grab you, and this is one that sure grabbed me.

This song has been part of my "set list" for some time.....and it is absolutely my favorite song to draw people in and get them to sing along......so needless to say it is a PERFECT song to do in the back yard.....and to see Bonnie still looking and sounding great just warms my heart. THANK you for posting this......I will be playing it with some friends at my gig tomorrow night.....inspired by this back yard version !!

Ive never lost track of her music --since this very song, in the early 70's .
Another wonderful person, Ive had the pleasure of living in the same time frame with, and enjoyed as the background music, of my life.

BEKKA used kidnap me off the strip ( she just had to invite, she always included me&my companions )and we would go home with her and into the studio at Delaney Ranch and listen to music and sing for hours.

The Bonnie I knew, was when Ben Benay took me to the Brass Ring, (Studio City ?) to hear Delaney and Bonnie-and he bragged he was the SHOUTER on their album that had "Never Ending Love " on it ...anyone know where HEATHER (Noelle?) AKERS is these day? (His daughter, on Ben Benay's album with the harmonica etc., guitar of course) ANYONE ?Ben taught me my first BAR chords! Arraned a couple of songs for us..and Like to know where he is these days ? Rumor had it at "Lost on Larabee" he'd moved to FRANCE ? ANY OF YOU KNOW ?
