Matilija Magic is a feature length documentary film (currently in production) about husband-and-wife duo Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett (D&B), who created some of the most distinctive and unique blue-eyed soul, rock, blues, country, and gospel music of the '60's and '70′s.
This is the story of a couple who hit the worldwide rock circuit and taught a few bored, super-rich, genteel, white British musicians how to roll up their sleeves and make their music down and dirty, more soulful and honest. Four decades later, their impact remains. This is a journey you will remember for a long time to come.

Jimmy Messina - Matilija Magic

You know Jim Messina's music. Over the years, this gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist has created timeless tunes as part of Poco, Buffalo Springfield and Loggins & Messina. What many people don't realize is that he's a gifted artist, too. His paintings - of schoolhouses, bank buildings and quaint inns - seem to harken back to simpler, quieter times. Jimmy has been a huge supporter of Matil...

Delaney & Bonnie- Never Ending Love clip

Sitting in the backyard playing music has been one of the common threads that ties everyone who's played with D & B over the years together. Maybe second only to sitting around the kitchen table! This was another great afternoon filled with BBQ'd ribs and music being played by legends Spooner Oldham, Bonnie Bramlett, Johnny Neel, Larry Henley, and Bekka Bramlett.

You could’ve filled SHEA STADIUM… what happened to you
And that is the great Johnnie Neel Rockin’ in his seat !! I used to go see Johnnie at a little bars in Delaware and Maryland when I was underage at 15 yo. (44 yrs ago)Lol. His work with the Allman bros is legendary.
Is that Spooner? OMG
I'd love to know where Delaney and Bonnie's house was on Matilija Ave. It's so amazing that as Edward James Olmos says: “On the corner was [Derek and the Dominos bass player] Carl Radle. Next to him was Indian Ed Davis, who played with Taj Mahal. Also on that block was the Stone Canyon Band - the entire band. Jim Gordon wrote ‘Layla’ on my piano. All these brilliant musicians were living within a two-block radius.” But, says Olmos, they didn’t think of themselves that way. “We were just a group of kids playing our music.” It would be wonderful to visit where all of this happened.
I just want to tell you, that in 1971 when this song came, my dad started a new job 8n Montana and we stayed in Mississippi for a couple of months to finish the school year. When we got to Montana my dad would aways hug on mom. They were so happy to be together again. I'm planning to add it to the Spotify list we're going to play at their 70th anniversary in July. Thanks for writing and singing this song. It's definitely one of my all time favorites. God bless!!
❤❤❤

Love this, been all time favorite back teens!
Bekka strongly resembles her mother. Got the great husky, soulful voice of hers' too! This was a treat; seeing this!

What ever happened to Matilija Magic?
What a gem! Bonnie is simply the best and her daughter, well, what can I say but how wonderful that we have her voice!
God bless all who love their friends and family.
Brilliant Love it !!!
Inspiration by Bud Light. This had all the ambience of those hymn sings we used to have around the campfire at church camp, but the only beer consumed was Hires Root Beer. The spirit was the same, though.
It looks like a typical backyard in any neighborhood and yet there you have legends Spooner Oldham and Bonnie Bramlett, amazing.
What ever happened to this project??
I saw Johnny Neel with Blue Floyd back in the day. Great show!
LOVE IT!!!
Hello just curious is that Delaney on keyboards
No sadly Delaney died in 2008.

I love this so much! Real music!
First heard this song at first Atlanta Pop Festival, 1969. Never-ending love to Bonnie!
Fantastic!!😀
I've covered this song in several different bands, and I still Love it. I learned it the very day I first heard D&B do it. Some songs just grab you, and this is one that sure grabbed me.
Unmistakeable voices. Delaine Alvin "Delaney" Bramlett 1 July 1939 - died 27 December 2008
Harry Dean Stanton on keyboard.
Scooter Oldham is his name and Mussel Shoals legend.
Spooner Oldham, Muscle Shoals legend indeed.
Love this
Add "Only You Know and I Know" What two songs scrambled me in 70
Did Clapton write “Layla” about Bonnie?
I read that it was written about Pattie Boyd, George Harrison’s wife at the time.
Brekka was in Fleetwood Mac for a while yea?

Back yard party old school good stuff
Awful
Why is this awful?

Just an informal barbeque in the backyard. I loved this clip. You're untitled to your opinion.

Thank you Delaney & Bonnie for sharing this private moment. My mom had the original "45".
Sitting around the ranch with Bekka was one of the most amazing blessings I have ever received. These people are real and they are genuine. It has been one of my greatest life privileges to call her my friend.
So cool❤❤❤ I will always call Delaney and Bonnie (and friends) as my favorite band. Only You Know & I Know , and Groupie are just great songs. Where would people like Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and Dave Mason), and more ever come together??? ❤❤❤ What a supergroup!!!
