Space Marine 1 is a respectable looking game considering it released in 2011. Played and recorded the whole thing this weekend and it generally holds up really well, better than most of the lower-ish budget shooters of that era. It's a bit short though in terms of the campaign, only about 4-6 hours depending on your pace, but action packed af.
Not really. Gears of War came out in 2006 and looks ten times better than Space Marine 1. In that respect, SM was a huge disappointment to me. It was still fun, of course.
Graphics are not its main selling point tho, it's the way better balance of choppy and shooty than in SM2. Also I feel the script / dialogues were way more engaging.
Warhammer 40K predate both Gears Of War & God Of War even the creator of Gears Of War said he was inspired by Warhammer 40K and he's a big fan of that universe

@@Deathscythe91Some games that come out now look no different or worse than last gen games yet require the latest hardware. Even with the games that are coming out and look good look worse than mobile games on low settings but require relatively new hardware. Optimisation now is ridiculously bad
PS 3 vs Ps 4 pro more likely . The graphics its decent but not new gen ! like u can get in other 3A games like Alan Wake 2 , Cp 77 , Avatar , HFW ,Hellblade 2 or few others !

It has arguably combat that is WAY more fluid & fun, and a script that plays much better into the spirit of 40K. Try it, you'll like it.
I got the second game and really enjoying it, so got the first and it's a good time man I recommend it. On sale of course. It still stands strong.

You know, I sort of prefer there being less enemies in Space Marines 1. It lets me appreciate each individual enemy more.
