Fook me, took out the album 'New boots', to have a play for the first time In an age, and It brought me Immense joy and a deathly sadness listening to an album of pure classics from first track to last, Joy and the sheer brilliance of Ian Dury, and utter depression that he Is no longer with us to give us such great Music!RIP. Thank you for posting.
out of trevor,he and his blockeds have been such an inspiration since I heard´em for the first time in 78 on the juke-box in italy.great, thanx for posting
no band ever got the groove going so unsuspecting and so full on, and on, and on!! Chas a master of the fully funked guitar understatement. Knock me darn wiv a fevva!
My oldest school friend introduced me to the lp 'new boots and panties' when I was about 12 or 13.( I bought the album) and still play it now and then. It's just pure genius. What more can I say?
The Block Heads played Camp Bestival 2010 and stole the whole festival. They were great live and the crowd rocked, played a very tight set - brilliant guys!! (still sad to miss Ian though)
I remember lifting our cheap speakers onto our window ledge in our crummy bedsit in Southsea in1978 and blasting out Plaistow Patricia very annoying to all but we were only inour twenties then great song smith with tales about everyday people
I was wondering if anyone has tha acoustic version of Hit Me i saw on To the Pops 2 around 99 / 2000 ?? excellent. I saw Ian Dury and the blockheads at Luton around this time . cracking show.He sadly pass3ed awwy soon after. I have seen th Blockheads since a few times and they are still great musicians and all that.
@drwinkle101 He was awesome, of course, but I think the whole band deserve equal credit. They are the sum of their equal parts. The songs are scandalously superb. Nice one :-)

Ian sometimes puts me in mind of a white Ray Charles.
That band behind Ian is sensational!
Thanks for that one!
what a man, what a genius, what a band.. proper hammersmith boy, i would give my right arm to still have him around. thank you Ian
My thoughts exactly. The world is worse of without him. I hope the blockheads keep going forever.
The heart of this band was always the great funk-jazzy bass player.
Excellent live version, same version i saw at Rock city Nottingham in 99,part of the love pants tour......sadly missed....
Je t'adore, c'est fantastique! What a funk groove!
The man lives on!!!
Remember guys ".. after all is said and done, you're all blockheads too!!

Ian had a BIG HEART... He probably chats with Captain Beefheart and Alex Harvey right now...
