possibly already are asleep since they are pancaking! and guinea pigs sometimes sleep with their eyes open.

I have a guinea pig and I'm pretty sure they sleep with their eyes open in case a predator comes. They are good at sleeping and can fall asleep in a few minutes, even if it's not very noticeable

Boop! Sleepy, adorable potatoes. Piggies feel safe and flatten like pancakes sometimes to fall off to sleep. Some piggies sleep with their eyes open!
