Not only is this absolutely bizarre, but also the term breaking bread comes from the story of the last supper of Christ, who broke bread and shared it with the Apostles as a symbol of his immortality..(he died soon after)

There's a lot to appreciate with old ettiquete. Pretty cool.

Instead of thinking of it as old etiquette, it's just etiquette that we should all appreciate! :)

Much easier, than buttering whole bread. With unfilled corners. Love the videos!

Nah, breaking bread derived from sharing food. Not buttering food. Now you have crumbs, buttered fingers and making noise just to do this “etiquette” thing

I loved discovering this etiquette tip because it’s actually easier to eat MORE butter this way 😂

How cosmic! I was hoping you would cover this topic and here it is. Thank you so much Dr. Lee. I am guilty of buttering the whole piece of bread then taking bites.
I look forward to the video where you discuss etiquette for dipping and eating bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. If we make the mix, is there a proper order? I think oil, then balsamic.

I have a question about etiquette for the knife when at a restaurant. Invariably, there will be a single knife at each setting; no butter knife with the butter plate. You butter your bread with the one knife, and rest it on the bread plate. The knife used for the butter will be used to cut the potato or some such thing that doesn't require a steak knife (another topic in itself). Sometimes the bread plate is removed before the meal is served, the buttery knife is now an orphan with no plate on which to rest. Or the server will take the knife from the bread plate and replace it at the right pending the arrival of the meal. There are too many permutations of this dilemma to describe each. Please help with the problem of a single knife. Thanks.

Not where the saying comes from, it would be cool if you explained where this etiquette originated from in your videos

If I am in a party and there is only one butter knife given to the table, how should I butter my own bread? After using the shared butter knife to place the butter on my plate, should I use another knife or maybe ask the waiter for another butter knife? Thank you for your videos. love them.

In France, the bread comes without butter or oliver oil. So shall I put small portion food from the entrees or the main dish on the bread?

Is it acceptable to break this hard slice of bread? I thought only soft round bread is breakable.
