Roadworthy Transit van

Is the Transit van still worth my time and effort, should I seriously start thinking about a new van. Wasn't so lucky with the M.O.T this year it failed on rear brake drums, yellowing of front lights again and a lot of welding. it's funny how you forget all about the pain when you have that M.O.T pass in your hand.

    No no no.....the centre spacer should be pressed in wiyh a hydrsulic press, it should be a very tight fit in the sprocket or it will work loose. The plain washer is there as a spacer and to isolate the sprocket from the retaining circlip and to give an edge for the protective dust cover. The hub must be greased before the sprocket is fitted..

    Does this get rid of the air in the caliper channel between the nipple and piston?

    • @mickhenson1
      @mickhenson1 6 місяців тому

      Hi, Yes it removes the air, I should have shown a close up of the air being removed. I put my thumb over the hole and turned it upside down a few times and you could see the bubbles coming out. The brake would not hold if air remained in the system. just slowly squeezing the leaver as you tighten the last few threads on the hose.

    Keeping an old ICE car is the more environmentally friendly and economic thing to do unless you drive excessively. No battery to chemically deteriorate(which ALL batteries still do) and require a new car because of the cost of replacement. In norway the government gave the EVs too many economical advantages, causing people to buy more electric-cars and stop using public transportation. The EV was more economical the more you drive because of chep electricity. The EVs have now been thrown out of the public transport lanes during rush hour and starting to pay road tolls etc. New luxury EVs will also start to pay tax when you buy them. Electric power crisis is also a new thing. The lack of minerals for producing the insane amounts of EVs might also postpone the ban of new fossil cars. I forsee that i will enjoy to drive my old fossils long after 2030.

    • @mickhenson1
      @mickhenson1 2 роки тому

      Hi, EVs are still road Tax exempt in the UK, I don't think anyone still knows what to do when it comes to recycling the batteries or scraping the cars. Maybe the biggest problem will be the self drive cars and insurance for us to drive manually.

    Hi Mike, I think the deciding factor in the not to distant future will be the availability of fuel, I can see supermarkets closing their filling stations to make way for charging points and small independent filling stations becoming more unprofitable and closing. I can't help thinking classics and I.C.E. vehicles in general are going to become an ever increasingly rare sight on our roads. I filled the Rover up today and payed 201.9 for E5 at my local Tesco it's already starting to hurt, might have to get the push bike out soon.
