Thank you, Hayley! I think we get so excited in the opportunity of going abroad, we forget to ask these questions! Happy 2018! Where did you go for your experience?
I really agree with your point about asking if they will trust you. I au paired this summer in Italy and the mom wouldn't give me a key either, which lead to me being locked out sometimes and also not being able to go out very much because they would be in bed around 11. It is really important to ask, don't take a job if they won't give you a key!!
This sounds just like my au pair experience in spain...i was about 20km outside of barcelona but I couldn't do anything during the week because to go to the city i would have to take the car then bus then metro which took me over an hour. The village I was living in was in the mountains and so remote there was nothing but family homes ä. 🙄😰
Hey, I would like to do an Au Pair in Canada and I have trouble finding a host family cause it seems to be that there are not as many host families in Canada as in other countries. Do you have any tips?
I just had my first video call in skype with 2 host families yesterday, I didn't get to ask any questions because they literally told me everything I need to do and what is expected. I got to say hi to their kids too. I wasn't prepared at all OMG and I was wearing a singlet because its so hot. I regret wearing like that! is that bad?? what should I do after video call?? should I msg them greetings daily or something? they say they going to be in touch with me. (Im a male AuPair) It's my first time.
you had better show your passion towards your host family, message host family once in two days or daily if you like , i am going to be an aupair in USA this june😁😁
@@Budgethomeorganizer thank you for the tips, yap I'm messaging them once in every 2 days to greet them. Wow nice, is it your first time being an Au Pair in USA? My host family is from Italy and im sooo excited
Star Valeri no agences and au pair sites don't advise against family paying in advance for your flights. So generally you have to pay it yourself (but cobsidering it's the only charge that you'll have) yet sometimes if the experiences was satisfying and all for both the family and the au pair, the host can consider paying for your return flight. You have to ask if it's an option, to your fam before leaving.
I love how you explain that being an au pair didn't work out for you and admire your attitude about it:) Thank you for your helpful tips!
Thank you very much, Stella! Hope they helped. Did you become an Au-Pair?
I have an interview at 6:30 tonight and i really want to do my best so i can get out of france and go to chile
Thank you! This was extremely helpful. I have 2 au pair Skype chats scheduled today :) I will definitely be asking these questions
Good luck! How did they go? Where are you looking to Au-Pair?
Great questions, its a big commitment to join a family in another country, you really need to understand if you and the family are a good fit!
Post-quarantine travellers ...is anybody viewing this in 2021 ??
These are amazing tips. I had a lot of very similar circumstances in my experiences. Definitely amazing questions to ask!

I traveled to Australia in 2015 for 3 months and then to Poland in 2016 for one year! :)

I have a question so the money they pay you it’s the only money you have to survive over there?
Where do you stay while you are there?
Do they pay you for your flights?
