Hey up Candice. You are a hero for hanging in there for so long. And credit to Lisa too. She originally stood up for someone she loved whom she believed to be innocent. But when she finally realised that he wasn't, she was very brave. Two strong women. Huge credit to you both. I struggle to believe he hasn't abused many others along the way.
And let's not forget his stepdaughter, who showed incredible bravery by coming forward. I can't imagine how terrified she must have been on so many levels. In the end, she was the reason he was caught.
Thank you for covering this case. Being from Saskatchewan I remember the shock of hearing the details of this case and thinking this is something that only happens in movies. That poor woman went through hell having no one believe her and being ostracized in a tight nit community. About 20 years ago a movie was made about it called "I accuse" starring John Hannon.
You know without a doubt there was more victims and sadly they don't even know or remember what happened due to the drug used. Thank God Candice was different and able to remember, she actually saved a lot of other future victims!!
I've seen this case on Forensic Files tons of times and it's probably one of my favorites. I remember how badass cute I thought this chick was. What a terrible human being that doctor is. So sick what these men do to girls. Hope Candy is out there still kickin' ass!
Candice? Isn't she so gorgeous, I've always found her so adorable too. And she's brave, she was treated so badly. She's definitely a total badass, she's amazing.
I definitely think he hurt others. He was very confident in his status as the “beloved, Dr John”. I think other victims were too scared to come forward because they were afraid of not being believed.
I hate this case. He never should have got away with it. It was weird from the start, nobody questioned why she was given an injection instead of some pills except for Candice. I've been to the hospital because I was angry and the doctor wouldn't give me an injection because he felt like that wasn't safe, he just gave me valium. It's a bit odd for them to knock you out completely. Candice is just an amazing person.
That may be true. However Dr John was incredibly sneaky and sophisticated in his trickery. It was common practice back then to draw blood to test DNA. The cops could've asked for different samples to determine DNA. It's understandable that they didn't. There have been many cases where the criminal wasn't at all cunning and the police were hoodwinked. It's admirable that Candice kept at it. Especially when everyone was gas lighting her.
I remember there was a dentist in CO who was caught for doing something similar to this case and only lost his license and job for it. So glad my parents never left me alone with any surgical procedure
Why do criminals seem to have so many rights, like parol, short sentences, good behaviour parol for murderers, snitch reprieves, and police corruptness in certain counties allowed to nb buried?
So so sad that that little girl said you didn't believe candice so why would you believe me 😢 if only they demanded a different part of him to take the test but I guess he was slightly smarter at first , I'm so glad candice wouldn't give up she's a warrior and so is that little girl , I hope she gets the massive amount of help she needs but those babies having to have to visit him is so wrong
5:19 Why does the narrator need to tell us that he finds Dr John 'good looking'? We can make up our own minds on that, maybe just stick to the actual facts?
The point was that so many saw him as good looking and charming, which made them more trusting. I personally don't think he is. He looks like a creeper with that mustache.
It was evil enough to betray his patients but then to have targeted his daughter. So evil that the kids were forced have contact with him even after conviction.
I've always wondered how he could have the tube in his arm and it not be seen. Guess it could be seen. But he was able to keep that part of the arm covered. Just by putting his hand over it. The lengths people will go through to get away from a crime THEY committed. It's a given that he's done this to other women and children.
Awful that he got so little time, but still glad he got what was coming to him. Candice also seems like an amazing woman, I'm glad she was able to see some kind of justice.
That's extreme gaslighting; I would feel crazy if I were her. This is the first time I've heard about Candice; other crime channels didn't mention her this deeply.
As for Dr. John- it IS difficult for authorities to determine the validity of rape claims, but if there's any question, law enforcement, the judicial system, and members of public in general need to support the investigation of the charges, and refrain from demeaning & rejecting the woman filing the charges. Unfortunately, too many people are always poised to judge and condemn others, and put too much emphasis on how "nice" the accused appears, if they're active in a religious community, on outward appearances. One must wonder why Dr. John chose to use a drug that allows females being sexually assaulted to remain conscious despite their inability to move.
@@Trailblazer162 nope, rather plain.. I don't recall the narrator describing them as gorgeous tho.. I did zone out for a few minutes so maybe he's mistaken about them as well 😂
I don't think so. I have seen the case covered a couple of times and I've not heard of her ever apologising. But I doubt Candice would have wanted or even asked for an apology. She really didn't want him to do it to someone else and he did, I think she was just devastated for Lisa.

And to go back to school to learn more about Lady parts and baby making etc...not to forget his poor stepdaughter. Oh and of course thank you to Candace for keeping the fight. And Lisa's heart must have been crushed when her daughter said that she didn't tell because of not being believed. I was crushed hearing that. And please no sympathy wanted but I can relate.
I'm shocked the wife didn't say sorry to Candice on camera and for them to become friends, because John hurt them both and they could have each other to lean on !!
He would say she was crazy wouldn’t he. Why would such a rational person make such a thing up and how could she have supplied the evidence. The police must have been completely incompetent .
A sick and twisted bastard! Serving only 6 years in prison for the damage that he’d done, is an outrage! Candace can hold her head high. She’s one gutsy lady. Her persistence paid off. I hope she’s doing well. Also, had counseling too. People owe her a huge apology! I absolutely hate it when people use the "but I kNoW him/her, they'd nEveR do this!" To me it's somewhat like the saying 'boys will be boys'. Until proven otherwise everyone is guilty. It's absolutely sickening how some people actually get away with crimes just because of their social status and their ways of manipulation.
