just to be clear, currently, sporting play wingers as wingbacks on both sides, not just one, both quenda and maxi yesterday are natural wingers, in his first season at sporting he played two natural fullbacks there, pedro porro and nuno mendes, he can do it all, he'll go with the best option for the players you currently have for those wingback roles, maybe an academy kid like he did with nuno mendes when he was just 17 and quenda now at 17, as long you're good enough to play, you're old enough to play
I think Hojlund is closer to Gyokeres than we think. He was made to feed the ball to the wingers. And on top of that the wingers barely passed or cross the ball to him. Amorim's 9 is always linking up play and holding it up to play in quick 10s that are almost inside forward profiles. His 9 has to be able to control and trap long balls without getting bullied and play to 10s making runs like Weghorst did. The wingbacks are important but not as important as Xabi Alonso's wingbacks. Wish Cavani stayed longer man what a player, he was the last ST we had with aerial ability.
I actually agree with Joe on Antony we (and everyone really) regard him as bad because we're judging him as a winger/inside forward like most wingers are when in reality he's a lot like Gosens; he'd fit the defensive winger mould a lot more if he played on his foot sided flank, and in a 3-4-2-1 that's really what the flanks are; not wing backs or full backs, not wingers or inside forwards - defensive wingers. He's hard working defensively, and he's just good enough technically to play a supporting role going forward, Ten Hag even played him as a left back in our FA cup game against Liverpool when we were chasing the win last season. Nobody's gonna want to sign him with the wages he's on, and we don't really have anyone else that isn't 17 years old right now, so it honestly couldn't hurt to at least give him a run out in that position till it's filled (or by him hopefully if he finally really takes to it) He'd take some convincing, but Amorim is a charismatic man, pretty sure he could do it

I really hope Diallo, Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford, Mainoo get some new ideas from Ruben and players like Mount, Antony, Casemiro can actually be used properly now
We are surly past the point now of thinking oh what about this player or that player? If you don’t fit the system your gone and if you haven’t performed consistently for a few years your gone aswell. Sentimentally has ruined this club time to get standards again
On Antony it will be kind of a poetic irony if Amorim comes in and successfully converts Antony into a left wingback in the midfield 4. Imagine that, he had been played there in the cup by ETH (though he hated that). Beyond his poor tendencies to dribble he actually has lots of tenacity and pressing desire, if he can just buckle down, run with pace and just cross on the left, he might be the best option we have on the left given his attributes.
Bruno and Amad then Mount and Zirkzee. I think Zirkzee will suit that position much more. I'd also try Rshford as a 9; he was bad previously as he was isolated and can't play with his back to goal. Gyokores is always breaking and running directly at goal. Hojilund will do well too.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Maguire in a back 3, he would be less of a liability and his slab head comes in handy in both boxes. Rashford could possibly play as the 9 under Amorim by running into the channels with Zirkzee playing as one of the 10’s getting into the box but I still believe Hojland will come good. I just think ETH didn’t play to his strengths. With no outstanding strikers around at the minute to purchase I’d like to see Utd spend some money on Wirtz in the summer, I see him as Bruno’s successor.
Since everyone is speaking, yoro, deligt and mazroui should play at the back, martinez cdm, bruno, case, garnacho, rashford, holjund, zirkzee, should start.
Weekend was the perfect example of Marcus needing to stay far and away from that wing back position. Could count on 2 hands how many times he just left his runner to overlap the winger against Chelsea. Would be career suicide for Amorim to decide that
Ok, Antony. He only has a left foot. He is quick. Left back is made for him. And wtf has he never been played on left wing? Marcus and Garnacho have been put on the right. Why not Antony on the left? Do we all have to follow the Lord Peps style? Fuck me he aint worth 80 million but you might get something back if you play to his strengths.
No one mentioned Di Maria as a flop. Was it because it technically wasn't really his fault, but Van Gaal fucking him about, then replacing him with Ashley Young?
Bruno can't play wingback because he can't or won't dribble. Ste may be touching himself at the thought of Martinez DeLigt Yoro as the 3, but what happens when one or god forbid two of them are out. We're telling Maguire to play in a high line again? while he slowly trudges back to the 18y box again and again like he did while ten Hag screamed at him to stay high last season? Joe may be technically correct but if Amorim comes in and plays Antony as left wingback, he'll last less time than ETH.
Amad has 4 goals for United vs Garnacho's 35.....I think fans are maybe putting a bit much weight on them....if i am wrong Amorim should be the man to find out
It’s nonsensical to compare the stats side by side of a striker in the Portuguese league playing for the best team vs a striker in the Premier League for a mid table team.
Give the youth/reserves something to really aim at... and give them a chance. Might find some that really shine when they step up. Those players can then really put some pressure on the first team. Anyone that wont run... cya.
@@IH2K There’s 3 possible scenarios for me - from now until the season ends - that we could try that would prevent us from spending stupid money. 1. Go and activate the buyback clause we put on Alvaro Fernandez (£16m) before another club go in for him 2. Promote Amass and actually give him a chance 3. Experiment with Antony at LWB and insist that it’s the only way he can save his United career Going all out for a LWB at like £40-50m shouldn’t be on the agenda unless the other 3 scenarios don’t happen/work.
Have we all forgotten Sancho as a contender for the worst flop?! Money and expectations were high af... His best game is for fucking Chelsea.. insanity
I think Rashfird brings the spirit of the club down. Football should be treated like a war, not a sport. Rashfords mum is his manager, and he grew up without a Dad. He's talented and seems like a nice guy, but he's not a soldier. And to make it worse, his image is the face of united
Only thing I remember Sanchez doing was his cameo vs City and a goal against Newcastle that maybe saved Mourinho’s job. Other than that he was garbage.
What is this obsession with 3 4 2 1, ruben could line us up in 3 4 1 2, play bruno in 10 & play two strikers up top. Hojlund along with rashford, garna, amad, zirkzee. My midfield would be Ugarte Mainoo. And 5 would be Dalot Yoro De ligt Licha Mazraoui.
‘What is this obsession with 3-4-2-1’ - well it’s the formation the incoming manager has used consistently for 4 years, very rarely changing it, so I’d say that’s the obsession.

But jesus i do hope he does well, I do hope those fickle fans don't want him gone by the end of the season.....like I said just a opinion 😅
Amorim will have a better chance than ETH. His Character and personality for a start. It's got to be a team effort with Ineos. Not an influx of Sporting Lisbon players. That will be a disaster.
His only hope to succeed is to have a clear out, no start again with existing players wipe the skate clean - get rid of them, or he’ll be gone in 2 years - same old cycle

We are surly past the point now of thinking oh what about this player or that player? If you don’t fit the system your gone and if you haven’t performed consistently for a few years your gone aswell.
Sentimentally has ruined this club time to get standards again
I’m sure if Rashford was watching the Sporting City game he broke sweat at their work rate unless he suffers from the same problem as Prince Andrew
These guys talk about Rashford like he invites them over lunch every weekend. 😅
Succession planning is hopefully the purpose of the structure we have now. Whatever we build under Amorim has to fit whoever succeeds him.
Describing Antony as "Freezer Pizza" might be the best thing Steve has ever said lol
Most universally liked United players? Ole, Irwin, O'Shea, Larsson.
May, Carrick, Herrera
@@haydensmith8558Park, Herrera (oh wait, you got that one), Hughes, Rooney (until, well…)
I wouldn’t mind seeing Maguire in a back 3, he would be less of a liability and his slab head comes in handy in both boxes.
This dynamic doesn’t flow they speak over each other
Bruno at wb is a wild shout he can't defend
Yeah bizarre call, he's slow as fuck too
26 is a fairly normal age for a striker to be hitting their prime.
Our main link for years now seems to be Sesko.
This was a really good conversation. No egos on display and no nonsense.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he debuts Amass and tries him as his LWB. He has a 17 year old playing RWB at Sporting now.
The camera focus feels off on the wide shot, I’m sure Joe and Ste are slightly blurry
Has anyone noticed Ste much happier now?
He doesn't get the sugar highs & lows..yes much happier ☺
Since everyone is speaking, yoro, deligt and mazroui should play at the back, martinez cdm, bruno, case, garnacho, rashford, holjund, zirkzee, should start.
Remember having a convo with my old man when Sanchez came in saying maybe he will get us over the line on the CL 😂
Howson the shouty: but what about EtH’s xG???!!
Jay the parrot: I agree
Joe the deluded: we just need momentum!1!1
Weekend was the perfect example of Marcus needing to stay far and away from that wing back position. Could count on 2 hands how many times he just left his runner to overlap the winger against Chelsea. Would be career suicide for Amorim to decide that
Pound for pound cost v productivity/ morale worst ever can only be Pogba and Martial. Best ever is between Irwin, Ole, Giggs and Scholes.
Rashford as a wingback man alive couldn't think of anything worse
Ps Didn’t Amorim buy a striker from Coventry that is now ‘the hottest property in Europe’. ?
You lot forget about Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Bebe??????? Bloody hell you lads have selective memories!
Park was the most universally liked United player imo.
Ste is swimming in that shirt, fair play on the weight loss mate
Bruno and Rashford are objectively our best players, both technically and performance wise. Amorim will play both of them
Amad has 4 goals for United vs Garnacho's 35.....I think fans are maybe putting a bit much weight on them....if i am wrong Amorim should be the man to find out
Spot on Jay, Sanchez was by far our worst signing ever
The Antony bit🤪😂ffs
I'd love to hear "you win nothing with kids" version 2.0
It’s nonsensical to compare the stats side by side of a striker in the Portuguese league playing for the best team vs a striker in the Premier League for a mid table team.
Give the youth/reserves something to really aim at... and give them a chance. Might find some that really shine when they step up. Those players can then really put some pressure on the first team. Anyone that wont run... cya.
Conversation about Uniteds most liked player and nobody mentions Ander Herrera...surprising
dangg it joe,u sold me on anthony as lwb in a amorim system 😂
fr tho, he look and vibe is the same as tht lwb at sporting 😂 nuno santos is it?
How you can’t see a player in Anthony is beyond me. This is why United players turn trash. The pressure and scrutiny. Anthony is Nani all over 🤣
Pretending that Bruno is a perfect fit for Amorim’s style but Rashford isn’t is a hilarious case of mis profiling 😂. Some of you are in for a shock
Won’t find a better wing back in Europe over the last 24 months than Di Marco.. he’d be the first signing I’d make for sure
He’s playing for his boyhood club in a league they’re pretty much always challenging for. Italian players don’t often come to the Prem either.
@ I agree, it’s extremely hard to get players out of seria A, especially Italian ones but he’d be perfect. Not many other obvious options
@@IH2K There’s 3 possible scenarios for me - from now until the season ends - that we could try that would prevent us from spending stupid money.
1. Go and activate the buyback clause we put on Alvaro Fernandez (£16m) before another club go in for him
2. Promote Amass and actually give him a chance
3. Experiment with Antony at LWB and insist that it’s the only way he can save his United career
Going all out for a LWB at like £40-50m shouldn’t be on the agenda unless the other 3 scenarios don’t happen/work.
Have we all forgotten Sancho as a contender for the worst flop?! Money and expectations were high af... His best game is for fucking Chelsea.. insanity
Antony will work well in LWB, Joshua and Bruno at 10
Ste has lost so much weight! Good on ya fella!
Ste is looking fluffy version of JD Vance.😂
I think Rashfird brings the spirit of the club down. Football should be treated like a war, not a sport. Rashfords mum is his manager, and he grew up without a Dad. He's talented and seems like a nice guy, but he's not a soldier. And to make it worse, his image is the face of united
Never disagreed with Jay but 44:39 Sanchez 50x for us what Antony is, regardless of him not wanting to be here from second 1
Tbf Antony vs Chelsea was really hard to explain and probably better than any game Sanchez ever had for us
Only thing I remember Sanchez doing was his cameo vs City and a goal against Newcastle that maybe saved Mourinho’s job.
I love you guys I really do, I love all your videos, but 2 years ago you said the same thing about ten hag...how he will succeed etc etc. Yes I know noone can predict the future, but in 2 years time, when united are having a bad season you watch the fickle fans turn on him, not blame the players etc etc, it will repeat like a broken record. Yes united were correct to get rid, bit premature?, yes, I belive he should have gone at the end of the season, don't shot me on this this is just a opinion.
Antony LWB Redemption Arc
Shaw has to go lads, end of
His only hope to succeed is to have a clear out, no start again with existing players wipe the skate clean - get rid of them, or he’ll be gone in 2 years - same old cycle
Universally liked - RVN
Hojlund will finish the season on 30 goals all comps if he stays healthy.
I’m sorry but if this coach sees that there’s lots of players that can’t fit their way into his system then they go and he gets in players that can… garna can fit this system, Amad can… but rashford and Antony can’t… shaw can’t, eriksen cant… they need to go
Trying to compare a side of dossers to that Sporting side is going to result un a rude awakening.
Joe dont like Amorim does he? Hiring and sacking managers is a reality we all have to get use to as united fans. it sucks but the league leaders keep improving and unless you have the best coach and best recruitment. its going to be short projects every time.
Did sporting have the exact team he wanted when he arrived? Because he brought success there instantly
Pedro Goncalves is just a b-tech Bruno and he's thrived in Amorim's system.
Don't listen to Jay, he was championing to keep Ten Hag.
Donny Van De Beek is our worst ever signing btw. Antony & Sanchez both had good games and G/A against big teams. VDB didn’t have a single good game and he was 40 MILLION.
Bobby Charlton !!!! Everyone loved him
I get buying a goalscorer but if you want a goalscorer you need to give your striker service then you can talk about buying a goalscorel we dont give rasmus any service at all
Ten Hag lost his job because he converted Marcus back into a Left Winger after his purple patch 30+++ goal a season
