The same god stood by and did NOTHING while the brits starved and murdered the Irish and plundered food and goods. The British policy of mass starvation inflicted on Ireland from 1845 to 1850 constituted "genocide" against the Irish People as legally defined by the United Nations. A controversial look at how the "Great Potato Famine" of Ireland in the 19th century. It was not a famine as there was plenty of food other than potatoes. The British government stood idly by and let millions of Irish die in what is now being called genocide. A blight upon the potatoes of Ireland forever changed the histories of Ireland, England, and the United States of America. The blight that we now know was a water mold (and not a fungus as originally believed), Phytophthora infestans, attacked the cash crop of the Irish Catholic peasant farmer. This was the crop with which the Irish paid their rent to the English and Protestant landlords. Starving Irish peasants tried to eat the rotten potatoes and fell ill to cholera and typhus and whole villages were struck down. Many landlords evicted the starving tenants who could be found dying on sides of roads with mouths green from eating grass to fill their bellies. Other families were sent to workhouses where the overcrowding and poor conditions led to more starvation, sickness, and ultimately death. Going to a workhouse was akin to marching to one's own death. Some more sympathetic landlords paid the passage for their tenants to emigrate to America, Canada, and Australia. Ship owners took advantage of the situation and wedged hundreds of diseased and desperate Irish into ships that were hardly sea-worthy for the Trans-Atlantic trip. These ships became known as "coffin ships" as more than one-third of the passengers died on the voyage. This anthem is by far the most beautiful and powerful ever written and is absolutely fitting for Her Majesty the most beautiful and gracious Queen in history. I love the portrait of her all alone in St. George's chapel toward the beginning. I've never seen that painting before.... beautiful! It makes me sad to think that in the near future she will leave this world 🌎. It's Mind-blowing to realize most people alive today have never lived in a world where she wasn't Queen. I believe she is one of the few people in history that when she dies there will be a great shift in the world and it's future. She's the one that goes on and on. She is the constant. I can't imagine a world without her. Nor do I want to. 😔 God save this beautiful and humble Queen as long as possible.
@@TheLongDon I really don’t care if I’m an American who supports Britain, I love the country, if you don’t like it, more power to you, but never shame anyone for loving it

I fully accept your reasoning. It's just my thought, poorly worded, perhaps, that when she hears that song, she thinks not of herself but her country. As I said before, I'm very fond of her. So are many, many other Americans. Best wishes!!! Oh, I have an awful time distinguishing between "your majesty," and "your highness." If I ever got the chance to talk to her, I don't know what I'd say.

It's not that bad, truth to tell I prefer it to a republic, having an aristocracy seems more honest somehow. There will always be people who are placed above the rest of us, and any choice the public thinks it has is very heavily diluted by the process. Also, heads of state of republics cost their tax payers more I believe, because they don't have their own ancestral lands to live off. So the taxpayer must fund the dignity that any head of state must maintain to be taken seriously. The rich will always laud it over the rest of us because their money gives them the power to do that, and that's human nature. Since we're stuck with an elite, I reckon we might as well make something of it. So I say long live the Queen, the monarchy, and even the house of lords. :)

With the Queen’s Jubilee year in mind, this is a great song to hear! I’m an American who supports monarchies! It’s a pity that USA isn’t a part of the British Commonwealth! God Save the Queen!
I agree! This Sir David Willcocks arrangement of the monarchy’s National Anthem is the best I’ve ever heard. That it was used only for the ill-fated marriage of Prince Charles and the beloved Diana Spencer is enough reason alone to repeat it at Prince Charles’ coronation - as a reminder to us all of the wrong done her by the Royal Family.
i have to say that the UK's national anthem gives me goose bumps...its so rousing and poweful...yet i am not British but i love the National Anthem GOD SAVE THE KING ...May The late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll Rest In Peace...God bless Her Majesty...
The arrangement is by the late Sir David Willcocks, one of the giants of English choral music in the 20th century and a consummate composer, church musician, and gentleman. It was written for the wedding of Prince Charles and then Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981. I think it’s the finest and most spine-tingling version of the National Anthem ever written, but sadly, I don’t believe it has ever been used again since that first performance, probably because of its association with the ill-fated marriage.
Mark Laubach Yes indeed. Sir David Wilcocks is also famous for his arrangement for the final verse of "O Come, All Ye Faithful", (Yea, Lord we greet Thee...). I love pulling all the stops and playing his version every Christmas Eve.
I always though that too until Willcocks' death in 2015 when I remember reading in one of his obituaries that the Queen wasn't a fan of this version which is why it was never used at state occasions after the 1981 wedding.
For pure spine tingling I suggest absolutely nothing can approach the anthem sung to her for the first time as crowned and anointed monarch in Westminster Abbey in June, 1953 when she was but 26. Glorious. Stunning. As was she on that day.
This arrangement was used here I believe because the wedding of Prince Charles, being the heir apparent, was a full state occasion. Since Prince William was not the heir apparent at the time of his wedding, his wedding was not a full state occasion and hence they did not sing the two verses of national anthem and this version would not have been used.
As of my Irish ancestry I'm not a big fan of the English Crown. Having said that I have an immense respect and affection for both George VI and Elizabeth II. They were thrust into the monarchy and have served with grace and dignity. God Save the Queen.

Not really. Would like it much better if she had, in actuality, been only a "constitutional" monarch.
@@adithyapatil4346 What do you mean if she was *actually* a constitutional monarch? Are you implying that our monarchy is absolute? Semi-constitutional? What's next? The monarchy isn't hereditary? Or is this to due with the Commonwealth or previous subnational monarchies?
@@oldchannel7930 well I just mean that they're just symbols of colonialism. They're no different from ordinary people. They just happen to be so respected because they were born into that family. And really, there are people who are less rich than them and still do more charity.

It almost makes me want to be British. RIGHT or not, HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN HAS BEEN, IS SEEN IN MY EYES AS A MOST AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, AND STATELY ROYAL NATIONAL TREASURE! I feel most fortunate to have lived during HER REIGN and always enjoy the British National Anthem!!
Thank You God , For The REIGN of This Great Woman !!!....Your Mighty Hand Sustained Her In This World with Royal Dignity And Grace ! May She Now Behold You Face To Face !!!...
She was so young when she ascended the throne. Has served for decades. Well done.
Yeah that's true , hi how are you doing ?
I will be 70 in a few weeks and Queen Elizabeth has reigned since before I was born, God Bless Her Majesty.
Happy late 70th birthday. My beloved Nanny turned 70 after Prince Philip’s funeral on April 26th
I'll really be sad when she would pass. May you live long, Your Majesty!
Great changes lay ahead upon her passing . Many traditions will be discontinued as the monarchy evolves to be more modern .
@@oneilbuchanan8377 No. Modernity doesn't make sense with these matters. It is a nonsense. William is super attached to tradition, so don't expect big changes from him, and that's for the better

With the Queen’s Jubilee year in mind, this is a great song to hear! I’m an American who supports monarchies! It’s a pity that USA isn’t a part of the British Commonwealth! God Save the Queen!
May she defend our laws and ever give us cause to sing with heart and voice: God Save The Queen!
Truly the best collection of photos I’ve ever seen!!👌🏽👌🏽
That is really nonsense.
i have to say that the UK's national anthem gives me goose bumps...its so rousing and poweful...yet i am not British but i love the National Anthem GOD SAVE THE KING ...May The late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll Rest In Peace...God bless Her Majesty...
She is beautiful, the tough little lady, what a responsibility to have. God bless the Queen
Yeah that's get, hi how are you Elisa ?
Its history of Kindness and care , God save the Queen 👑. Thanks ☺️
This is sooo beautiful! Yes long live queen Elizabeth!
I prefer the Benjamin Britton, quiet and reflective.
Queen elizbeth your country and all your subjects love you dearly God Save The Queen
As of my Irish ancestry I'm not a big fan of the English Crown. Having said that I have an immense respect and affection for both George VI and Elizabeth II. They were thrust into the monarchy and have served with grace and dignity. God Save the Queen.

My god we should all thank her for her unfailing duty to this country when she took her vows at coronation she has followed them all her life
She has been the Queen for 68 of my 70 years of life. Without her Britain will never be the same, we will be lessened, we will have lost an anchor, an example of what duty is. She makes politicians seem like grubby school children in comparison.
