Any way to block the speed of the drone so you don't get those sudden accelerations and instead turn the camera and let the subject go further away ? Nice review, I feel like this feature has really improved especially obstacle avoidance.
Had my drone for about 2 weeks. I wanted to have it record me while on fourwheeler and the drone almost gave me a heart attack. Was so close to hitting the tree. So do the sensors not work good when its going fast?
The active track still does not compare to the Skydio 2+. Many users want to track themselves without needing someone to fly the drone while they, for example, drive their dirt bike. With the DJI you will need to either have a drone pilot or mount a ridiculous remote to your handlebars. With the Skydio 2+ I carry a tiny beacon around my neck which allows me to completely fly and/or track me without any of the DJI issues.
It really sucks that the only drone with full obstacle avoidance and no controller flying is being discontinued. They are literally the only company doing this and stopped. Like why? I'm lucky to still have my Skydio 2 that I bought in 2021 @@LoA.77
@@108mtsan yeah for sure you're lucky. They've decided that they're more profitable selling exclusively to government, industry and military contractors. They're probably right. I'm disappointed but I just unboxed my new mini 4 pro and I'll just have to be happy with it lol
Hello. When you unfold the front arms, grab the feet and move them front and back, can you feel a slight looseness at the junction of the arms and the body?
Love it. I hope the roll Active Track 360 to the Air 3 at least, if not Mavic 3 Pro. Ordered Mini 4 Pro with Plus Fly More, Filter set and the Wide Angle lens. Also 1 more battery since I like to have 3 in the hub and one in the drone. It will be here TOMORROW - That's only 2 days! DJI is getting good at this.
I have a quick question about the controller. With the new controller (RC2) is there RTMP as an option for streaming the live drone view?!?! I saw on a DJI forms page that it was but I wanted to verify that RTMP is on the drone before I buy it! Thanks so much!
The Skydio tracks optical just like DJI. But with the difference that when it has to fly around an obstacle it use GPS to find the shortest way. So it's not a GPS follow-me only drone. You can forget about DJI adding GPS follow-me. They just won't do it. But you will have it soon Litchi or Maven is compatible.
Does the height of the drone in the air remain the same regardless of the path that you've drawn for it to follow you along that 360 degree wheel? I haven't tried using the Active Track feature yet until I find out for sure. The paths I do hope to use it in are kind of sketchy on one side of the path and obstacle free on the other side of the path. If I can start with the drone at a high enough level I'll be clear of any obstacles as it flys the full 360 around me.
Just a question: can you perform active tracking while the subject (a speedboat) is allready moving. Will the mini 4 pro "grab" the boat? So NOT beginning to track from starters.
The active track feature of DJI drones has always been disappointing. I want to use it while cycling and, for Mini 3 pro, this feature was useless. I also have a Skydio which follows me while cycling brilliantly, with just a beacon, but the mini 3 pro does everything else better. Can the mini 4 pro do it all?
You may be interested in the Hover X1. It has limitations. But it's so quick to get in the air. and nice and small. They sent out thousands for review. Maybe you can get it for free?
If you want the drone, active tract 360 keep up with the dirtbike you gotta go in the controller and change it to vehicle then it won’t lose it people don’t walk it 20 miles an hour
Pretty amazing obstacle avoidance system. It's good to see that on a small drone like this, but at the same time, it's getting scary when we think we might see those everywhere following us around in a distopian future hehe
Very interesting video. I have a problem with my mini pro 4 when trying to set active track. In the 'control' menu, when I switch on 'subject scanning' the "FocusTrack Settings" which is supposed to be underneath does not appear at all on the screen. Therefore I cannot access the inner and outer circles to set parameters as they do not appear on the screen. When I go back to the main screen I see 3 icons: activetrack, spotllight and POI. When I press 'go' on activetrack there is only a single circle with front, back, etc directions but no outer circle.. Other 2 functions 'spotlight and POI work fine. Any ideas?
You just draw a rectangle on the subject that you want to follow and the drone will detect it, after that a menu pops up and you have all the options to configure :) Good luck!
Better? Not sure I agree. Different purposes it's more capable, more agile, faster. Less easy to travel woth and none of the sub 250 benefits though. I will have Mini 4, Air 3 and Mavic 3 Pro. Something for every requirement. Lol
I would agree unless you need a tiny drone but the air 3 is so close in price to this I'd just go with it if you haven't purchased yet. You need to follow all the same rules with a drone that isn't registered as apposed to one that is anyway. Alot of people don't get that
great vídeo !! im taking my mini4pro to mountain biking here in brasília, capital of brazil. its been a very pleasent surprise. besides de hidration pack on my back (camel back) i take two bumgags (one in each side) one with the drone, one with the rc2 remote controler. i put drone on the air and set the target in one of my friends. we then start riding. now i know that on speedy trails, the drone will easyly loose us so we prefer those plain fields when we ride at 25km/h maximum speed or on the hard uphills with good mountain views around us. im putting this mountain bikes rides with drone in my channel if you want take a look.
That's actually the third video of the drone (almost)crashing into the object when active track is enabled. I'm really happy with how my M3P is handing biking in the forest when following behind me. I think because of those 180 lenses the obstacle avoidance may be inferior ... :/
Works great too bad I can’t download it on my brand new iPhone that even the geek squad at Best Buy could do it. They had to give me my money back with a headache.
Looks stupid and had to walk with controls in hands, should be possible with voice control. In 3 years we will laugh at how outdated the whole active track system was.
The tracking is very cool! Now DJI needs to set automatically the rules of 3rds when using any tracking. Simple to program that with code... If the subject is moving to the right - 2 empty boxes to the right, so the subject is always on the right vertical lines with the correct horrizontal line, same goes to the left, front, back, incoming. Example: this shot is following the rules of motion and it is usefull in professional production: ua-cam.com/video/5AIXzjw4uRY/v-deo.html but the rest no so much because it does not use the rules of motion with rules of 3rd. I still don't understand why no drone companies uses the rules of cinematography when in auto. Simple to code and implemented, and it actually hads more time for the software to adjust for not losing the subject on any speed. DJI, add the rules of motion and your drones will never loose track and any person will get a professional shot every time. DJI always empty space to the direction of the subject is traveling to or looking at it. Code this on your software and your tracking will improove by 1000% because of the time of the empty space gives to software to adjust in real time.
The whole menu system is too complicated, it should be possible to have more automatic functions and voice control.. It is impossible to control the drone in active mode when I cycle in hilly terrain. Elon Musk had butchered the whole menu system, simply old-fashioned.
That is why I still didn't buy a DJI yet. They make the best drones. But for cycling it all takes way too long to set up. Try use a touchscreen while riding a bike. Impossible. And when it loses you you have to ride back every time. Take it from me, a very simple GPS follow-me with a nice small controller you can tie to your handlebar with a bungee is much more user friendly. If my €135 drone does it perfectly then why not a €800 DJI? With a simple push on the button it follows north south east west wherever I want. I can use the sticks anytime. And it even auto updates homepoint. Sometimes simply old fashioned just works better.
I think your title of "amazing" is a ridiculous, considering a few minutes in the Drone didn't use any of its obstacle avoidance and somehow you got magically lucky not to crash into a tree. Active track is useless if it can't avoid obstacles, not amazing. But you got me to click, so I guess job well done.
Watch the whole video, it's amazing the drone manage to escape everything in its way and still delivered smooth footage. Not a scratch on it too. I call that amazing :)
Thoughts on Active Track 360? After this test i'm definitely more relaxed about taking the drone with me for some close-up follow shots!

Visually that i like is the homepoint icon directly on the screen rather than opening the map
Anyone know if the Air 3 is gonna get this exact active track 360 interface ?
Thanks
can this active track be used on a large vehicle/car instead of person, will it work???? thanks for your response
Just tried mine on auto track and 20 seconds later it crashed into a pine tree. On parallel it lost me in about 30 sec lol.
