Thanks for the video, I learned a lot. I have the DV-440 but it's fairly close inside. Did you go to a trade school or just self taught? Is there a brand or 2 you can say are consistently quality built as you've seen them. thank you.
Thank you! I do electronics and mechanics in my free time, my formal education and profession have nothing to do with either. Every known and popular brand has reliable quality and not so good products - I do not think I can name any that does not fail at all. It is worth to do a research to avoid those items with known issues. Some products eventually fail due to natural limited lifespan. Mechanical parts are prone to wear and optics accumulates dirt in DVDs and CDs over the years of use - many will stop working at some point no matter where they were made. The same badge does not mean that quality has been the same over the years: fantastic brands from years ago (like Goodmans, Akai, Grundig, Agfa, Polaroid and many many more) have nothing to do with todays cheap stuff.
